It was alright.

After reading all the rave reviews about this place, we've decided to go there for the $0.25 wings night. We were there at around 5pm but it was already quite busy, so we seated ourselves down right away. They haave a restaurant area, so we brought our kids along with us, and we were actually quite surprised at the number of kids that were there.
Anyway, the service was a little slow, it took a while for the waitress to come around to take our drinks order. We ordered the wings right away. We tried the teriyaki, thai, honey garlic and honey mustard.
Our wings came quite quickly, which was great because we were all pretty hungry. The size of the wings was quite small, but it was alright for $0.25. Very saucy, and we liked all the ones we've ordered except for the teriyaki, there was just too much soy sauce and not enough sweetness in the sauce.
We went ahead and put in our second order of wings, and this time it took a very long time, much too long. I think we must have waited about 40 minutes for the second batch of wings, we were about to cancel it when our waitress finally brought the plate to our table.
We ordered more honey garlic and decided to try the salt and pepper. We really liked the S&P ones, they were nice and crispy and seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper, though I think the peppercorns could have ground a little finer because they just didn't quite stick to the wings.
Overall experience, pretty good, except for the slow service. Would go back again.

When i walked in, it was a bit confusing, i was with my sister, there was what seemed like an upper area..and lower area..we sat in the upper, as it seemed brighter. we sat..and we..sat..and..we sat. No body gave us the time of day..there was contact with the customers on the lower half. We had to get up and ask for help..then we were treated as though we inconvienienced them. Once we ordered and got our food, (and warm pints of beer) it took a while..the wings were gross and greasy...the plate had sried stuck on food from i suppose the customer before.... and the surroundings, really smelled poor. Like there was mold ..in the walls. Although my sister suggested that is was from smoking and past cigartettes..that also makes sense.

average fundrasier nightw
By princessgaga of burnaby B.C. (68 Reviews)

Went for my friends kids hockey fundraiser. There were 3 food choices for the fundraiser. One was pretty good (ginger beef) one was average(burger and fries) one was Gross spaghetti with rose sauce which was just ragu with a touch of cream and garlic powder. It even looked like Italian baby vomit.

The waitress we had was really good but it was hard to find her and she did forget drinks a few times. But I've had way worse. It did not seem as busy on a Saturday night as in past years and still seems to cater to the middleage crowd rather than younger people by the music.

It was ok. But, I'd have to think twice again unless it was a good friend's fundraiser.

First Time using and using a Group-on Coupon
By Big Aaron of Coquitlam, BC (2 Reviews)
Submitted Thursday, September 22, 2011 - 6:01pm [Dine in]

Purchased a Group On Coupon and went to check out the "Cat" ( supposedly a Port Coquitlam landmark ) on a Saturday night. This place is a real pub, great atmosphere, unbelievable value for the food we ordered, and great service. Usually walking into a premise without a hostess your ignored by the servers etc till you sit down, however, we were greeted by the male bartender as we walked in the door and told he would send down a server ASAP. The place was busy and our server came by and dropped off menus immediately but said she would be right back. Service was not great but server in our section was very busy and I was amazed at how she was keeping up to the customers. Food toke 25 minutes from time we ordered, which was well worth the time because it was great!
Have been back again to use the other Group On coupon we purchased but on a Tuesday night. Not as busy as before, but great service, great warm people, and food was super!

Bad Service, Even Worse Food-What Happened!
By Sweet_431 of Coquitlam, BC (3 Reviews)
Submitted Wednesday, May 11, 2011 - 10:28am [Dine in]

Went for lunch this past Saturday and was so disappointed I felt compelled to tip other people off to how bad this place is now. When we finally managed to track down our surly waitress we ordered the potato skins, honey mustard wings and some drinks-the drinks came fast, the food took more than 15 minutes to arrive. And what a disappointment it was, the “honey mustard” chicken wings looked like they had been microwaved and then drowned in some gross yellow bottled sauce (we joked that there was probably no honey or mustard in the ingredients) and the potato skins also tasted microwaved and were literally dripping in grease. We would have told our waitress, however she did not come back to our table after delivering the “food”, even though the place was practically empty. I had to hunt her down again to get our bill and then once again to pay. This place used to have good food and cheap drinks and was one of the few pubs in this area worth going to, I wonder what happened.

I never do these sights but after the awsome fun time i had this weekend i have too!
My girlfriends and I havent been out in a while so we decided to go bakc to the fiddle cause its been years. We had heard alot had changed so we said lets go down and see where we go from there,
We got there and the bar was decorated like a beach theme or something. We saw everyone with leis so when we got up to the bartendar we asked what it was about. She was awsome fun and totally hooked us up and told us they were having a tropical party. It was so fun. The 2 chicks behind the bar were working their butts off but everytime we came up they remebered what we were drinking and we didnt have to wait. It was cool to see 2 nice happy girls working in bar!! And having fun with everyone.
We hung out on the dance floor pretty much all night, the DJ was super cute and was all about making our night fun.
Since its been a while hanging out at the cat all i can say is it was a blast, My girlfriends and I were happy and impressed and we were still talking about today so i wanted to give credit were it was due!
Koodoos to the fiddle and the girlies behind the bar! Another happy customer who will be back soon!!

Where did all the waitress go
By timbren of pitt meadows (4 Reviews)
Submitted Saturday, November 20, 2010 - 4:43pm [Dine in]

Our family with one young son went there so mom and dad can have a wine with lunch. Waiting 10 minutes for a waitress should have been a hint. In the hour we were there I don't think we saw the waitress in our area more than 5 times. We wanted a 2nd drink but did not want to wait in the freezing cold pub for another minute. The food was good, but it got cold before we could finish it. Boy, has this place gone down hill. So bad that we did something we never did before, instead of leaving our normal 15%, my wife left nothing.

Cat & Fiddle Pub Great Night Great Food Great Music GReat Service / thanks we'll be back soon
By Drake HollyWood of coquitlam bc (1 Review)
Submitted Thursday, November 18, 2010 - 9:26pm [Dine in]

HI All
Last night we went to the Cat & Fiddle for the first time in over a year with some friends, to our surprise this was an amazing night '
The food was second to none
I went with the rack of ribs on special, served with fries and salad for only $7.95 this was awesome, Tony Roma's you have nothing on the Cat and what a deal.
My girl friend and the two friends that were with us had a
steak sandwich, seafood salad, quesadilla, everyone loved their meals and the portion's were fabulous
for starter's we had wing's, calamari, plus caesar salad, the appies came out quick and fast but most of all were great

the service was second to none, the waitress was a girl named Racheal
she was cute, funny but the neat thing was she actually really liked her job as I thought this all was to good to be true so I asked her....lol

The bar tender was Tony funny guy as he was trying his best to entertain customer's with bottle trick's around the bar, and at one point made his way over to our table to ask us how everything was going and if he could get anything for us.

Well here's my review, normally would Never do something like this but we had way to good of an experience not to, as normally from my experience the only review's people give are when they complain

Our total visit at the Cat was three hours while watching the hockey game, if I could I would give the Cat a 10 out 10

thanks guy's we'll be back soon
Drake

Port Coquitlam can be very proud of the Cat & Fiddle

Today we had business in Port Coquitlam. Naturally when hunger struck ... we headed directly to the
Cat & Fiddle, where from previous experience, we knew we'd get great food. Well today the chef outdid
himself!! The dry garlic ribs were seasoned perfectly & were so meaty. Zucchini sticks had a crisp coating
over a young vegetable .... no old mush inside .... with a creamy dip. The chicken fingers were large
chunks of meat cooked just right & served with a honey mustard sauce The food was brought to our table
piping hot & in a very timely fashion .... no waiting around here. The waitress was very friendly & attentive
which just added to an already pleasurable meal. Neither of us drinks alcohol so we really like the Cat & Fiddle because we are never pressured to buy booze. The outstanding food was no surprise but the fact
that the appys were on for half price was a welcome surprise . 2pm - 5pm is 1/2 price appy time.
Do yourself a favor & zip over to the Cat & Fiddle for some super great eats!!!

I went to the Cat and Fiddle for my birthday and had a wonderful time. Even tho it was short notice they were able to make a reservation for a large party for me (which most places don't do for you). They must of just changed their menu because there were a bunch of new things on there. i tried their Sweet Chili Chicken and OMG it was amazing. All of our food came out pretty fast for having a large number of people in our group. Our server was great, drinks were always full and she even got a few of the other girls and one of the cute bartenders to come over and sing happy birthday to me when my friends brought the cake out. we had such a fun time there that we ended up just staying there all night dancing on the dance floor. the DJ was really good, he played any kind of music that you wanted to listen to. i would for sure go back for my birthday next year or tell me friends to go there for theirs.

I hadn't been to the cat in a couple of years but a friend told me there was a new chef and the food was great so I thought why not.WoW the food is maybe the best pub food in the province(at least for the ones I've tried)
I spend my free time in the summer riding my bike and I wouldn't even begin to guess at how many pubs I've eaten at but every time I go for a ride I make a point of finding a pub for lunch and I've been doing this since 1981 so I've ridden the mainland, sunshine coast and island from end to end several times over and the Cat has the best food I've had at a pub for many years.I've been there 3 times now and each time fantastic. The last time I was there they said they're putting in a new menu that their new chef has planned.I can see there's going to be more than a few rides out to Golden Ears and the Dewdney Trunk Rd thru Port Co. in my future, all I need now is some weather as good as the food.............................

Why Don't I learn?

Well I had to go for a fundraiser. $10 for a burger and beer. At least they they allowed acouple of substitutions as I do neither burgers nor beer. Unfortunately the choices wer chicken fingers and fries(which I dont eat) or vegetarian canneloni. Last Time I was there they were out of most food. I wish they had been this night. The veg canneloni was I swear a lean cuisine convered with more cheap "cheese". It was gross and how do you screw up garlic bread? If you need to know ask the chef there. Apparetnly I heard alot of complaints that the burgers tasted like sawdust and the fries were way oversalted.

Drinks were ok and the servers wernt bad. Better yet she forgot to put half our drinks on the bill and even when I insisted che check she said it was right - ok. Hmmm maybe Ill go back when shes on!!

A bunch of my girlfriends were looking to find a place to party on New Years. We wanted to go somewhere local with good music rather than going all the way downtown. We decided to go to the Fiddle and had one of the best New Year's ever! The music had us dancing all night! We requested tons of songs and the DJ played all of them. He was awesome! We will definitely be going back to dance some more :)

Good Food, Nice Staff
By hardy of port moody (1 Review)
Submitted Thursday, October 15, 2009 - 11:56am [Dine in]

I strongly disagree with these people's reviews. I have been going to the Cat And Fiddle for years and not once had a complaint about the food or service. They just re-vamped the menu and i have enjoyed trying the new items, most of which I recommend to friends and family when they are looking for a place to eat. The one thing that keeps me coming back is the staff. They are friendly, knowledgable and honest. They aren't just in it to make a quick buck, they want to make sure that their patrons have an enjoyable experience. When I ask about a certain menu item they tell me the truth if they would eat it themselves or not, which is something you don't find in many places.
This was the first bar I went to when i turned 19 and it's always the first place i bring up when me and my friends are looking to have good food, good drinks and a good time.

Three Strikes against Cat & Fiddle
By TheBigW of Burnaby (1 Review)
Submitted Thursday, October 1, 2009 - 5:03pm [Dine in]

I Went to the Cat & Fiddle Three Times

1st time; 8 of us went in at lunch time 12:05 PM to be exact. After 40 minutes we kept asking our server for our food. She would always say “It’s up!” but never bring any food. Even after two hours she kept saying “It’s up!” but no food would arrive. The table next to us was served, ate, cleaned, re-sat three time over and we still hadn’t received our food. After 2 hours and 20 minutes we asked for the manager and said we weren’t paying for our food, even if it shows up. As my boss was a local big-shot, the manager tore up the bill for our drinks. We had to go back to work with nothing to eat! We didn’t return to our office until nearly 3 PM.

2nd time; six of us went to watch a hockey game (I couldn’t talk my friends out of going there!). The TV above our table had the volume turned off so we kept asking our server to turn up the volume. “As soon as the game starts” is all she would say over and over. We asked repeatedly if the volume works to which she said “yes, of course it does!” When the show started she said she’d turn up the volume when the game started. When they were singing the national Anthem she said she’d turn up the volume when the game started. When the game started she said “The volume doesn’t work on this TV.” We never tipped her one cent after that and ordered our beers separately one at a time.

3rd time; three of us went for a business lunch (I couldn’t talk my colleagues out of going there!). I ordered a chicken Caesar salad. I never got a fork. I asked my server, then other servers for forks, I asked to bartender for a fork – no luck. After forty minutes of asking for a fork my colleagues said it’s time to leave. I turned my plate of untouched Chicken Caesar Salad upside-down on the table and rubbed it all around. “You can’t do that!” my colleague said. “Do you want to see what else I can’t do?” I asked him, ready to throw plate through a window.

RATINGS

FOOD; two of the times I went to eat, I either didn’t get food or a fork to eat it with. The 2nd time I had nachos which were okay, I guess.

SERVICE; beyond crap, servers are outright liars.

VALUE, total rip-off.

AMBIENCE; okay if you like belligerent low-lifes and the stench of stale urine.

Can I rate in negative stars?
