Japanese restaurant that smells like a pizza place.

Went there for lunch one day. As soon as we went in through the door, we were hit by an overwhelming smell of pizza (there's a pizza place right next door). A little strange to smell pizza at a Japanese restaurant!
It was only the two of us, but they gave us a little room, which I thought was kind of nice. The downside of it was that it took us a while to get their attention when we were ready to place our order.

We ordered the advertised special with 20pcs of sushi for $6.95, but we later found out that the special wasn't so "special" since the 20 pcs consists of california roll and cucumber roll, whereas in the regular menu you can get california roll and tuna roll for the same price, which we thought was definitely a better deal than the so-called "special".

The sushi was mediocre at best, somewhat flavourless, although everything was fairly reasonably priced. The softshell crab roll wasn't too bad, it was nice and crunchy, but their chopped scallop roll was quite strange because they added cucumbers and the chopped scallop was quite tasteless.

Probably won't be going back there since there are a number of Japanese places in the area.

Oh, and did I mention that our room was right beside their stereo, which they had on LOUD some pop station. Made us felt like we were sitting at a pub.

Absolutely Ridiculous..,

I walked in on a typical lunch period got service. Upon arrival I received a fairly quick greeting an seated immediately. The server seemed fairly nice and had a great attitude, however service was absolutely horrendous. I was not brought tea or setting for nearly fifteen minutes, and menus were thrown on the table. Looking at the menu, I found that prices have gone up since my last visit. I wasn't too bothered as it was only a dollar. So I continued to place my order after an irritatingly long wait, only to have the waitress run off to answer the phone.

We finally managed to place our order. Fairly simple things we ordered, some rolls and the basic combo. Once again, a near twenty minute passed before our food arrived. We dug down to our food only to be in disappointment. The spicy sauce on our roll was extemely sour and left a foul after taste. I believe however that my worst experience from the restaurant was when one of the sushi chefs began screaming at one of the waitresses while the restaurant was fairly full. I heard the waitress ask politely to not be speak to in the manner however the sushi chef continued. Not only did I feel disrupted uring my visit, I was disappointed at how the restaurant communicates with one another.

I certainly will not be visiting the restaurant again, nor would I recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for Japanese cuisine or a job. There are plenty of choices in the area.

Simply a horrible restaurant.

They claim to be Japanese restaurant buts erve crunchy dishes in Korean style and sweet and sour tastes in Chinese style. The place is nothing special and just average, but toilet definitely needs some work. Service is OK, the old lady is not impolite but it is very slow. Be prepared to wait even though the place is empty.
It is neitehr high quality or fast so I do not understand.

This restaurant gives so much food at cheap price. Foods look so delicious and pretty and compared to other sushi restaurant, this place has more different style of roll and new flavor. Also it is better to visit and interior gives me illusion that I am in the middle of Tokyo

while looking for a nearby sushi place from my cousin's house, me and my cousin came across a gorgeous japanese restaurant last night. this place is hidden at the corner of Mary hill and Wilson ave but you can easily find asahi between donaire store and seveneleven. we were seated right after we got into the restaurant and served very nicely. the place was really cozy and i liked a vibe in the store. there were some tables and rooms designated for the group of people and sushi bar for people dining alone. we went there with empty stomach so we ordered lots- spicy tuna roll, kamikaze roll, hamburger roll, some nigiri sushi and korean style bbq. most of the food we ordered were fairly good and what i really enjoyed was kamikaze roll. i don't know what's inside but it was like a combination of prawns, yam fries and special sauce. anyway i don't live around poco but i would definitely visit here again if there's any chance!! the relaxed ambience of this place and kind service will satisfy you so i highly recommend you to go there sometime this week for dinner or maybe lunch!!! <3

Great Food and Great mood

I went Asahi yesterday to celerbrate my 20th birthday.
Food was sooooooooooooooo nice and I enjoyed.

I reserved the room by caliing.
If you want to celebrate w your friends without any interruption,
I highly recomand this way.

Foods were very nice too. I just came to Canada last year from Japan,
and I think this place is the BEST SUSHI ROLLS resturant that I ever go!
(one of my friend says Canadian sushi is better than Japanese sushi LOLLLL)
especially, I recomand Crunch Roll, it was soooooo nice sources are sweet/and sour
so the crispies melt in ma mouse like a snow!

Servers always smile all the time ( I m sorry that we bother you guys too much :D)!

If I could come back to Canada, I want to go there again!
Thank you for the GREAT memories!
