Went here again with the Entertainment coupon last week on a Friday night. It was busy but we were seated right away right in the middle of the room by the statue. The server/owner? that people mention in these reviews is now blond and as bubbly as ever. She was greeting patrons as 'beautiful people' like everyone is a regular and family. She brought our meals out told us we had made excellent choices; and we had indeed. I had the 1/2 ribs and grilled chicken. Lots of rice (typical of Greek restaurants)but I ate it all somehow. My partner had the full ribs. Very easy to eat as the meat fell off the bone easily and the vegetables were very nicely cooked. One mixup with the server brining us someone elses food which she was overly apologetic for as she was so embarressed. People make mistakes; no big deal. I really like the atmosphere of this place and will definately go back again. Asking friends for their coupons.

I eat here with my husband at least 3 times a month. Always enjoy their seafood PHO. I haven't tried anything else here, but my husband has tried the beef and chicken Pho with no complaints. It is usually full on the weekends so you can expect a wait. The girls who work there are always very pleasant.

I work nearby, so every time I crave for sushi, I'd come here. They've got nice and fresh sashimi, and GREAT selections of rolls. I really their food, but the only reason that hesitates me from buying there all the time is because of the price.

The food they have is quite decent, but at the same price, if at same distance, I'd rather go down to Shyun on Lougheed for sushi.

Their spicy tuna is awesome!!!

Growing up in PoCo, we used to go to the Pantry for desert, after our school concerts. We would do dinner there from time to time. It was one of the few family restaraunts in town that served food we could all agree on. This evening, I went with my mum, my sister, my neice and nephew, as they do Family night, every wedensday. Kids eat for 2.99, it seems like a screaming deal. It was a disaster. When we arrived, there were two other groups in the restaraunt; yet all the tables were filthy. The staff were unmotivated and unfriendly. We waited twenty minutes to order drinks, another ten to order food, this only by demanding it when our drinks came, and another forty for the food to come, on top of the half hour it had taken to order it. When the food finally did come, they had gotten everyone's order wrong. My sister had requested no ranch dressing on her Buger, for example, instead they put extra ranch dressing on it, and left off the onions that she had asked them to put in, and they gave my five year old niece an adult sized caeser salad. What five year old wants wilted lettuce covered in fish-paste dressing? Our meals all came out at different times, things we requested were forgotten, the food was not hot, and it was almost in-edible. And that, coming from me, means a lot. I am in the army, and have been served some rancid food (I have have had green eggs and ham, and no they did not use food-dye). finally, fed up with the lack of service, and the poor quality, we gave up, requested our desert to go, and left. They gave us uncooked apple-crisp, and melted icecream. The icecream was melted when they gave it to us... maybe they thought the frozen apples in the raw apple-crisp would re-freeze it in transit, I do not know. All I know is that my possitive memories of going to the Pantry with the family have been ruined, and I will not be going back there any time soon.

Came here with my mom two weeks ago. It's a typical small-sized diner, very clean and welcoming. The owner is very friendly and attentive, and will stay at your table to chat for a bit. We had a 2-2-2 breakfast and a Hawaiian burger (which came with a *huge* side salad). I also saw that they have really hearty-looking soups. Food was pretty good, and they buy their products from the farm market that's right next door, so you know everything is fresh. A sneak peak into the kitchen looks clean and organized as well. Great place to come by once in a while.

i love chinese food and very exited to get a flyer in the mail for this takeout place..the prices were very low and so was the quality...we ordered 5 different dishes to try and could not eat any of them...the beef chop suey was so overcooked the brocolli was mushy and the beef had a terrible flavor..the crispy chow mein had raw slices of beef on top and smelled horrible...and there are no words to describe how horrid the other three dishes were...it may be okay if you are used to canadan style chinese food, but the place is a whole in the wall and does not seem clean enough the kitchen is so open that you can see the floor..there are a few table to sit at and a television..

Good food, can get super-busy, location is a bit dodgy

Overall the food is very flavourful. It's a really small place - maybe seating 20 max. If it's busy, that can be a problem. We waited almost 1.5 hours for our take away and we weren't the only ones waiting. At that time, there still 3 other orders ahead of us.

The guy at the front was doing his best by giving everyone free drinks and coming out with some spring rolls. But still, that was a long wait.

Price-wise, it's comparable to Little Thailand in Port Moody but still less than Chada Thai in Coquitlam.

Biggest concern is the location. It's set against car shops, mechanics and other businesses. At night, it doesn't look so safe so if you can park on Kingsway Ave., the better.

I have lived in Los Angeles and San Diego both cities are considered meccas for their sushi restaurants, and Sushi Shelter ranks with the best of them. I myself being a classically trained french chef have a deep understanding of what quality food is ,and chef Andy is a mad scientist of flavor as he fuses Japanese and North American styles seamlessly into beautiful and equally delicious dishes. The service is outstanding and friendly, and the decor is progressive and warm,
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND SUSHI SHELTER
AS IT IS THE BEST SUSHI AROUND
AND WELL WORTH THE 20 MINUTE DRIVE FROM VANCOUVER

3 things people look for in a Japanese restaurant:

1)Fresh
2)Tasty
3)Good portion

I feel Sushi Village met those criteria. Even though I have never dine in, the take outs have always been good. The chef is friendly and he is Japanese. Therefore, you know it is authentic. Usually, Japanese restaurants have Korean or Chinese cooks. So it is really a gem to have a Japanese Chef make my sushi. I usually do not visit restaurants near where I live. I am not sure why but I would go to Sushi village again.

I have been there twice. Each time I have to wait about 10 mins or so, but my food were freshly made. The place appears to be more of a take out place then a dine in place. Overall I would go there for takeout again. The portion is regular size. I think if they start making bigger portion, people may take notice. Because bigger portion is a big selling point for many Japanese places.

We come here at least once a month when I'm craving Vietnamese food. The family owned restaurant is located in a strip mall. The ambiance is a little nicer then fast food restaurants. One of the friendly family members will take your order after you seat yourself down. The restaurant is usually half full during lunch or dinners so I'm surprised how fast the food comes out after ordering.

Chicken dishes are my favorite and I usually get vermicelli noodles instead of rice and egg instead of the fried roll.

I used to order bubble tea here all the time but for the last 6 months they don't have any black pearls. Black pearls are the only reason why I like bubble teas.

I would not recommend ordering soups as they are usually mostly water and flavor.

Worth a try for sure as dishes are affordable and range around $7.50

I have eaten many Chinese restaurants in the area. Yesterday I ordered the take out food from the restaurant and was quite suprised the food and service was great and well priced. I was impressed with tasty dishes, ginger beef and almond chicken. Highly recommended to anyone who like good food with good value.

Yes, this place is in a really strange location, sketchy to say the least. It's very tiny and the ambience is inside is kind of grungy. I went on a Friday night with 3 other people and when we got there there was no one around so we sat ourselves. There were 2 occupied tables in the restaurant and for some reason it was eerily quiet, no background music or anything. For some reason, there wasn't enough cutlery on the table, and one of the cutlery was unravelled and missing some utensils, which was kind of strange. After the hostess was finished serving the other tables, she promply gave us cutlery as required. Throughout the night there was not much communication with her, if any, but she did fill our water glasses as needed, although I guess it's to be expected since we were the only table there!

We had spring rolls to start but it was nothing special, I thought there was a lil too much ginger in it. We ordered 3 dishes, a red prawn curry, a beef pad thai, and one of their special dishes with rice noodles, mixed veg and prawns. The red curry was a little salty and more liquidy/soupy than I'm used, but otherwise fine. The pad thai was alright but didn't really stand out, and the last dish looked kind of messy; it probably should have been plated in a bowl instead of a plate since it had alot of liquid but otherwise but was otherwise fine.

I guess in comparison to other thai restaurants we've been to it's pretty average, there's nothing really wrong with it but nothing spectacular either. There's not many thai restaurants in this area so we'd probably go here again.

This restaurant is one of my favourites. I have been going there for a number of years and it is consistently great.

The food is really good, though I usually have the same thing everytime. I love the szechuan beans, szechuan chicken and the potstickers.

The service is very good, very attentive and are always willing to help out with special requests like making dishes vegetarian or suggest something suitable.

The ambiance is nice, the restaurant is not loud like other places, white table cloths and lots of space.

I would definately recommend this restaurant!

I came here.. last year to meet my boyfriend's friends for the first time. I am not an expert at Indian food either.. so everything ordered and paid for was from one of his friends who is Indian.

The restaurant itself was a little dim for dinner, which was nice and it had plain colours on the walls. I don't remember too many decorations. There were lots of different kinds of curries but I didn't try them all (I'm a vegetarian). They were pretty good, but I found them a little spicy. I think my favourite must of been the flavoured naan bread, I think it was garlic flavoured. Really yummy. I remember ordering dessert.. it was two round balls in rose water. It was waaay to sweet for me to handle. But all in all, it was a nice dinner.

I don't remember exactly how much the bill came to, it was from about 150-200 cause we had 7 or 8 people.

My friend and I went to this place for my b-day dinner. Normally, we tend to eat in Van. Downtown or Whistler for fine dinings or other fancy restaurants. However, as I now live PoCo, we tried to give a shot for a local neighborhood restaurant and we happen to choose this place as we both love Japanese foods.
I must say...the quality of foods for the price you get here, it's such a great value. And the portion size was quite generous in our opinion. The menu was not grand or complicated but their food presentatioin was quite creative. We could not find anything to complain in overall. It would've been better if they could expand on their fusion rolls....which might stand out among other Japanese restaurants nearby.

I like Pantry breakfasts, they make a solid bacon and eggs. Their shredded hashbrowns are the best, they make them without onion.

Service is mediocre, mostly because they tend to be understaffed but otherwise they have decent waitstaff.

Value is solid for a good breakfast.

Ambiance is solid. Its a pretty standard restaurant with booths. All the times that I have gone the restaurant crowd has consisted of older people and families. On that note, sometimes younger members of families can be restless and make a scene or crawl all over the booths but its to be expected I guess?

I have been to this donair place a couple of times, the food is solid, its pretty good, flavourful but the meat can be grisly at times, otherwise it seems pretty fresh.

I question the cleanliness of the staff and the joint in general which is my main reason for not going there anymore, but that was some time ago so that might have changed.

Value is decent, you get a good sized portion of food for the price but theyre not exactly giving them away.

Ambiance is only mediocre since the shop in a warehouse type of setting with the kitchen in the front and some chairs, but I think the idea is to come in and get a donair to go rather than hang around.

Overall I enjoyed my donair and I would go back again.

Past by several times and saw the big sign. But never bother trying.

Tonight, it was raining cats and dogs. And Ginza is close by. So, I popped by and grab some sushi to go.

California roll, Spicy tuna roll @ $2.99 each. Dynamite roll @ $3.95. Everything added up to a little over $10 after taxes.

When I got home, I was awe by the portion.

When I put them into my mouth, wow,… it’s really good.

And fit 2 persons easily!

I’m going back for a real meal there soon.

Used to drive all the way to California Sushi or Sushi town. Now, I have a new spot to frequent.

To my surprise, this little hole in the way is quite alright! Although the food is a bit pricey for the amount you get, the flavours are absolutely rich and delicious. I recommend the Gaeng Dang (red curry with chicken). That's my must have.
The ambience is pretty cool too. It kind of reminded me of a Buddha Bar when we stepped in the first time. The waiter/owner/husband of the chef is also really nice and personable. This is my favorite Thai restaurant right now.
