Went there with my family for a late lunch today. It's a nice little family run restaurant but modern decor, but nothing spectacular.
We were seated right away, and the server brought us the menu and expected to order right away. Very quick service...probably because it was almost time for their break, everything was served in a hurry, a little too much of a hurry perhaps, we got the feeling that they just wanted us out right away!! As soon as we took the last piece of sushi from the plate, our server took away our plates and our tea and even our unused napkins before we even had a chance to use them!
The food was fairly decent and quite reasonably priced. We ordered the Crazy Boy (deep fried california roll),Snow Cap (california roll topped with grilled red snapper...delicious!), soft shell crab roll, the 10 piece sushi combo and the I don't remember the name of the last one, but it had deep fried eel and california roll fillings. Everything tasted very good, the snow cap being my personal favourite. The sushi was fresh. One thing I noted was that they had california roll filling with their special "sango sauce" in 80% (or more) of their roll choices, and they don't have a big selection of raw food. Perhaps a bigger selection of appys would be great addition to their menu.
Might go back...but definitely would go there earlier so we won't feel being rush out the door the moment we walk in.
I read the older reviews below and wonder if this is the same restaurant that I have ordered from several times! They do charge me an extra few bucks as I live in the very North end of Maple Ridge but to me it is worth it as the food always comes hot and quite tasty. The vegetable dish actually has veggies in it besides carrots and bok choy and the chow mein has veggies in it besides just noodles. I have not ordered the Chicken Balls in quite a while as they tend to be too greasy for me.
I have gone in for take away as well and the lady has always smiled and been very nice to me. As I pay I can see the cooks chopping away and they always smile and say hello so I am not sure where these negative comments are coming from. I can only speak to my experience and it is the only Chinese food in MR &/or PM that I will order from other than the Wokbox.
We have eaten here a few times. They have great customer service, and great food. They also give you TONS of food for what you pay for. We have had food delivered which took longer then normal but they gave us a discount becasue it took so long.
I would recommend this place to anyone :)
My SO and I have dined here 3 times in the last 2 months; following on the recomendation of a co-worker.
Very happy with this place. An interesting variety of rolls on the menu. All have tasted excellent / fresh / crunchy / etc. Salmon sashimi is first class. Nice tea and soup too.
Each time we order way too much food, and get out for $50 with tip. I think Sango offers very good value and look forward to dining there again this week!
I have lived in Pitt Meadows for 6 years and I have to say, the food and menu choice for Enjoy is excellent. We generally don't eat in, but enjoy the take out menu. The food has NEVER been greasy for us. The food is always piping hot and fresh. Out of town guests we have entertained have found the food great. I highly recommend giving the take out a try.
It has been years and I mean years since we have visited this restaurant. Probably 8 or 9 years ago we were regulars but after a slow and steady slide in everything from food to service to cleanliness we just stopped going. In fact we were not even sure that they were still there until an aquantance mentioned they were there recently as that it was wonderful. We stopped in without a reservation and although they were fairly busy had no problem fitting us in after a several minute wait at the door waiting for someone to appear. Although the area of the building that the restaurant is located is the same we can't say much else is. Obviously the room has had an overhaul at some point because it is much nicer than we remembered it. Not ultra stylish but very nice for the suburbs.
Service was actually quite great with a ton of smiles throughout the night. Everything was professional and quick. It is not the type of restaurant where the servers sound like cooks the server struggled slightly with the pronunciation of some of the specials, but that was not a huge deal for us. It is Pitt Meadows after all.
The food was really quite spectacular however, much better than we expected. Dishes were well presented thoughtful and portioned just right. Seriously the restaurant that we new this place to be from the old days would not have had venison carpaccio or smoked mushroom risotto both of which were fantastic. We also had on that night a tomato and cheese salad that was very good as well as a simple prime rib that was out of this world. The wine list was slightly more extensive than need be in my opinion how many people out in that neck of the woods need over 100 wines spread over 4 pages to choose from but I guess if thats your thing you would appreciate it.
Prices were very fair for what you get not cheap but cheaper than many other places of an equal experience.
Now they seem like they are back from the dead we will go back for sure.
we came here last night (for our 2nd time) for an early V-Day Dinner.
The food is to die for. We had:
ribeye (him) & rabbit tagiletelle raggu (me)
warm chocolate cake with kirsch cherries and homemade mint icecream
and blackberry martinis.
Everything was amazing! The place was packed but we still had amazing service. Honnestly the best food and service in the area if you are looking for somewhere classy, romantic and cozy. A must try!
We made a reservation for our parents' combined birthday dinner on the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant is tucked away on a side street, and we almost missed it. We were greeted very warmly and professionally. The level of service remained that way the entire night, consistently across all of the staff. Some large chains could definitely take pointers from the relaxed, fine-dining spirit of the service. The menu was small and perfectly executed. The canapes to start were delicious and unexpected. The wines were tasty and reasonably priced. Our appetizers were perfect -- one person commented that the prawns were the best he had ever had. The entrees were beautiful, interesting and delicious. Nothing was rushed, the staff were very attentive, and the restaurant had the buzz of contented patrons. My sister had lived nearby for two years and said she'd wished she'd known it was there earlier, because she would have been a regular guest.
I can only fault them for a few typos and spelling mistakes on the menu. I was the only member of our party who cared!
Give it a try: it's worth the drive!
We had made a reservation in advance as we had been previously unable to get in a few weeks prior due to it being full at that time. This restaurant came recommended, so after reading some of this restaurants reviews before going, we were all very intrigued. We found this quaint restaurant to be very welcoming with a warm atmosphere. We were half expecting to find a grumpy male at the front of house..but he was no-where to be found..still not sure who 'he' is, as all the staff were extremely friendly and easy to talk to.
The menu had some great meals on it, and the 'chefs creations' sounded good. We were told that the menu changes regularly depending on the season, as the chef only likes to cook fresh food, this was good to hear.
Our expectations were quite high, and I am pleased to say we were all very impressed. Our food came in record time, which scared us slightly, however after tasting it, we had nothing but compliments to say. We all had fantastic food. The portions were perfect, not too big, but just enough. The desserts were just as impressive, as was their homemade ice-creams.
After a delightful evening we were also impressed by the bill, definitely not as expensive as we had anticipated.
A fantastic evening was had by all, and a restaurant we will definitely be returning to. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant to friends.
Great food, but for the price I would have expected far better service. The condecending, rude, and snarky behaviour of the main waiter, spoils the wonderful food created by the chef and the cosey atmosphere of the restaurant. Unfortunately for the hardworking chef, my party and I will not be returning to this establishment.
I was so excited to order take out from this new pizzeria. I got the special : 3 large pizzas and 2L bottle of Pop for $39.95. What a waste of money! The pizza was so tasteless. The ingredients did not seem fresh. And the quantity of meat was not very generous either.
Frozen Delissio pizza would have hit the spot better than Albion Pizzerias pizza. Service was okay, although I arrived more than 20 minutes before closing (and ordered 45 mins prior), and I felt as if I was being a nuissance.
Not at all impressed.
Sat at the bar last night wanting to catch the Canuckleheads opener and have a bite.
Food. Just ordered a burger and fries with no pickle. Came quickly, but with pickle (LOTS of pickle). They re-made it (including the fries, which was good). Burger was decent, fries were a little tasteless. Nothing special at all, wouldnt order it again.
Service. Super nice bartender guy, but messed up the order, didn't bring cutlery or salt and pepper and I have a bit of a pet peeve with hipster employees talking to me like I'm 20 (I'm not). Waited too long for the bill, etc. Overall, about what you expect when you sit at a bar to eat.
Value. A little cheaper than I would have thought.
Ambiance. Nice and clean enough, but when you are trying to be a sports bar, have some decent tv's and audio. People expect it nowadays. Left after the first period to watch it on my much better home tv.
Will probably go back at its close.
I have tried various thai restaurants in the lower mainland
and I can say the taste of the food is tasteful, delicious and affordable
Offers variety of food and options to choose from
You will not regret it. When unsure what to order ask the server she will recommend the dish that you will definitely love......
A family style restaurant ---- server is very friendly
I would highly recommend you to try this restaurant...
We have been several times in this great restaurant. This is absolute one of the very best restaurants we have visited. We have visit lots of restaurants many very regular. The food and the presentation is great. We are very proud of our local restaurant and believe that everyone should try it.
Mr. F. and I have been planning on visiting this restaurant for several months after having attended a wedding here in the spring. Im not sure why driving the 2km down the road put us off for 4 months but were glad we got over that.
Menu was a little more upscale than we were expecting for this neighbourhood which was fine by us. Venison carpaccio for me and a beautiful tomato salad for Mr. F. Both very nicely presented with a portion as you'd expect for such a place. My halibut was just right with some really nice jasmine rice (wish I could replicate that at home!) and the hubby had chicken which we were both surprised and pleased to see came from hopcott farms around the corner. Were regulars at hopcott and find their meats worth the extra price. His only comment was that the dried tomato didnt seem to add anything to the dish. Shared a creme brulee which was good. Shared a few neat mini bottles of champagne before dinner then a bottle of bc syrah. Quite a wine list but they divide up the wines in a unique way that makes navigating the list a little more managable.
The room is tucked away at the end of a hall in the upstairs of the golf clubhouse, and we had to manage our way through a throng of people attending another wedding, but the view was nice with a nice patio although it was too hot to sit outside on this particular night.
The server was great, paid good attention without being in our faces all night, and seemed like a genuine good guy. Room isn't exactly ultra modern, but nice for Pitt Meadows. The nice little touches like a small free appetizer and bread served with butter, olive oil AND balsamic vinegar were clever.
Albion Pizzeria is a true gem. It is locally owned and operated and the pizza is amazing. The crust melts in your mouth. Soooooooo good. How can we nominate this pizza as the best in Maple Ridge???? Delicious pizza lives here!!!
They also serve Ice Cream by the scoop. My favorite is the BUBBLE GUM ICE CREAM!!!!!
I love walking to the pizzeria and picking up dinner for the family. Excellent location as there isnt much else by 240th.
Never having Pho before, and finding myself in the area and remembering some positive reviews, decided to check it out. Having NO idea what pho even is, I guess you need to take this review simply from the perspective of a simple hungry diner.
Ordered the noodles with beef and beef balls. Came with a small plate of sprouts, jalapenos and lime about 2 minutes before the meal, wasnt sure if it was supposed to be a salad or garnish, decided on garnish and dumped most of it into the bowl when it arrived. Beef broth, 6-7 small pieces of beef with noodles. nothing particularly special about it at all.
Service, not particularly friendly, seemed mildly indifferent if anything.
Value, hell it's only $8 including tax, but still didnt feel particularly well fed, think i'd rather have the lunch special at one of the local sushi places
Ambience, simple, dead bugs on the window next to my table never excite me, and not sure I understand the boy band music on the radio, along with intermittent tv noise as well
Glad I gave it a try but wouldn't return
We love Akasaka!
The restaurant is in a lovely little heritage house.
The food is always good, the fish is fresh and the menu inventive.
It is mid to high mid priced to eat in but very economical to order their tray's to go.
This is my family's favorite picnic food.
I am extremely picky about freshness and I have never had any problems with their sushi.
The owners have a lot of pride in their business and you can taste the love in their food.
This place is a hidden gem.
I have bought from this restaurant twice.
The 1st time I just ordered some hot and sour soup as I was sick. As far as I can remember it was tolerable but I was sick and my taste buds were gone so who knows.
The 2nd time my son and I went in and sat down and it was terrible. The service was beyond rude. Our food was thrown at us and the lady acted like she was doing us a big favor doing that. She was also very rude to her delivery staff in front of the whole restaurant, it was extremely uncomfortable.
The food was terrible , greasy , slimy and made from the ingredients that were to brown and limp ... basically to old to be served.
I would never set foot in this restaurant again. There is not one nice thing I can think of to say about it.
My husband and I like to go the the Jolly Coachman for our date nights .. it is stumbling distance from our house, so we can both have a drink or two and not worry about getting home.
The food is good for pub food and the specials are usually even better.
Lots of TV's to watch sporting goods and the place gets hopping on the weekend.
Nice older crowd.
Weight staff are friendly and efficient.
