My husband & I love this restaurant and it's our favorite in this city. Whenever we celebrate a special occasion, this is the place we go to. We always get great food, great service, friendly staff, great atmosphere. We've never been disappointed. There is a lovely patio with beautiful gardens open in the summertime which makes you feel like you are in Tuscany. The indoor space is intimate and has a warm feeling. The menu is quite extensive to suit every taste, from meat to fish to, of course, their great pastas. The wine list is also extensive and very reasonably priced. You do get very generous portions at this restaurant - not the little sprigs of food that leave you hungry even after 3 courses. I highly recommend it.
So happy we ate at this little restaurant. Authentic Italian and to die for dishes. The service was amazing. Everyone is so nice, you don't want to leave. I was upset I couldn't finish the food, they kindly packaged the remainder up for me, which I enjoyed for lunch the next day. We will probably stop in here every time we visit Ottawa.
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Manotick. My husband and I eat here at least twice a month. The atmosphere and service are great and the food is to die for! I definitely recommend it! The appetizers and entrees are wonderful but the desserts put the evening over the top!
Rarely am I so impressed by a restaurant.
This place has only been open since October in a tiny strip mall off the beaten path through Bell's Corners. Google and Bing still can't find it, even with the address. It's at the intersection of Robertson and Stinson, beside Dan's Automotive.
We went tonight on a whim for some Thai, and I'm glad we did.
We started with fried fish cakes and cucumber sauce. They were homemade and terrific. They were soft and pillowy, not at all rubbery, and didn't have an overpowering fish flavour. The cucumber dipping sauce was unexpected but it was both spicy and cooling at the same time.
It was followed by our salad and mains. We ordered a green papaya salad. It came loaded with peanuts and shrimp. The shrimp were steamed to perfection and were melt in your mouth delicious. The salad had just the right amount of heat.
We shared mains and both were portioned very generously. The Pad Thai noodles were not served spicy, but that's probably because it's the first choice for people when getting used to Thai food. The flavour was the right blend of slightly sweet and sour and I could see the little bits of tamarind used to flavour it- the real deal! The noodles were light and not at all greasy. It was a very filling dish for a cold day. Ask your server for some hot sauce made in house to spice things up. Our server insisted we try it.
We also had the richest red coconut chicken curry that I've ever had. It was loaded with strips of tender chicken and thick with coconut base. It was not overpoweringly spicy and it was worth every penny.
Even though it was listed as individual dishes, the food was served family style in giant portions. We took home leftovers.
The service was excellent and our server was super friendly. The food arrived very quickly and we weren't disappointed in the least. He saw that it was our first time at the restaurant and even gave my wife a beautiful elephant brooch.
I wish I could give this restaurant more than five stars. This is easily the best restaurant in Bell's Corners and certainly the best Thai in Ottawa that I've ever had, and even better than the Nokham Thai on Richmond Road which is usually very busy. We'll be back. Hopefully we will see you there- this new restaurant will need you in order to succeed!
The employees were very unfriendly and unable to take my simple order. The wait was extremely long, with only one customer ahead of me. The cashier forgot to put a shawarma in the bag, even though I paid for it. Overall terrible experience and complete rip off. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and it was absolutely disgusting. I typically love the chicken plates at different places, but this one did everything wrong. The salad dressing tasted awful, almost as though there was a spoonful of cinnamon in it. The hummus didn't even taste like hummus. Only redeeming quality of my meal was the potatoes and garlic, but that isn't anything to praise as it is near impossible to screw up potatoes and garlic. I don't recommend you eat here, there are many better places in Ottawa.
We pre purchased tickets for the New Years Eve dinner at La Piazza, the food is always wonderful and we really wanted to take advantage of their special New Year menu. It was one of the best New Years meals that we've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection, the salad was delicious, I opted for the walnuts on mine, divine. The butternut squash soup was wonderful, the Duck was perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious and my creme brulee was to die for.
The entire evening was lovely, the restaurant was very busy but our service level was not impacted at all. We can't wait to see what they do next year.
We decided to dine out this Christmas Day, most places in Manotick were closed but La Piazza was offering a Christmas dinner with all the fixings so we decided, why not.... This was the best decision we made on Christmas this year. The food was fantastic, Turkey with all the trimmings, butternut squash soup to start, delicious stuffing wonderful roasted vegetables. For dessert we opted for traditional Italian and had the Tiramisou. Everything was really wonderful and we didn't have to clean the dishes...even better!
I hope that the manager of the restaurant reads this because I feel they need to.
We went to the food court and chose this restaurant on boxing day. It was not overly busy. We ordered the chicken shawarma plate - we got the SMALLEST little plate ever - did not include potatoes, typical lebanese dressings - all it was, was DRY chicken on plain white rice and a side small salad. Picture a half a plate. The cost??? OVER 11 DOLLARS.
When I asked why i didnt get the normal lebanese plate - she said "you didnt order the large" it was over 12 dollars!!
Honestly the portions and food for the price are borderline ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and if you are craving lebanese food do NOT eat here. As I walked past a mall security guard - i told him i wanted to report a robbery, for the price I paid for this food - he said that he knew, apparently all mall staff know that this place is a COMPLETE rip off - no one eats there.
Portions and food quality are everything - if you serve small portions and bland food with huge prices i guarantee no one will eat there anymore.
We come to La Piazza regularly, we absolutely love the veal saltimbocca and the calamari. Both are the best dishes we've ever had in the Manotick area. Everything else on the menu is fantastic as well, the pastas are always cooked to perfection and the flavours are blended perfectly on the sauces.
We have yet to have bad service, the owner is always very hospitable and warm and the restaurant is always welcoming.
My business partner and I came to La Piazza for an impromptu lunch a few weeks ago and just had the most fantastic meals. I'm generally really picky about food and flavour, I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese, it was honestly the best, and I mean the best I've ever had. My partner had the Veal Piccata and was equally wowed. We were so impressed with everything, including the level of service that we received from the General Manager, Michelle, that we decided to book our office Christmas Party there.
I went for lunch with 6 of my colleagues. It was our first time for all involved. We were unanimously impressed.The cashier named Morsal give us a wonderful service.I think she should be given a job at the mangement level of the company.The food was hot and we didnt had to wait and i would recommend to everyone to go to KFC at St.laurent in the food court.

Placed order for two pizzas 3 toppings each. Received two pizzas 3 toppings each. Did not get special pricing for a "pizza pair" ($50 instead of $30) Called to inquire and was informed that it was my fault for not asking for pairs. Not very good business ethic. Not to mention the representative on the phone was belligerent and condescending.
Food is generally ok. But service is consistently bad. Good luck if your order is wrong. If you threaten to send back the pizza they will call you back only after the driver leaves and negotiate the error.
Ill just buy from Gabriels. They always VOLUNTEER the special prices.
I didn't know about this place before i saw the sign and decided to stop for lunch. Wow! Fantastic healthy meal : garden salad well seasonned rice with plantain, i love the chicken flavour simply delicious and juicy , love it spicy for an unbelievable price.I'll go back again soon.
This is by far the WORST shawarma Ive ever eaten in my life. First of all it 9 dollars for a trio. Most places offer trios for 7 dollars. Now i would be fine with the price if the food was worth it; but oh no my friends, it sucks ass on a monumental scale. I don't know where these idiots learned how to make garlic sauce, but it sure as hell wasn't on this planet, the garlic cause is the worst Ive ever eaten, it doesnt even taste like garlic. The amount of vegetables the lady puts on the shawarma is laughable. I was about to walk out because of how little she put. She put 2 PIECES OF ONION!! 2! wtf is this sh*t? She put 3 olive pieces, a tiny amount of turnip and one goddamn pickle. Like the reviewer above I had to press her for more because I like pickles. Now the potatoes..holy crap what a monstrosity, an embarrassment to potatoes themselves. These day old pieces of crap (btw she only put 6 in the carton, usually they put at least 12) were disgusting. They had no spices, no garlic, nothing. She had to put them in the goddamn microwave as well. Im not paying 10 dollars for a trio to eat microwaved food! So I sit down in this crackass joint, the tables are dirty, there are crackheads everywhere and I begin to unwrap the sandwhich. First of all the diameter of the sandwhich had to be an inch and a half at most. As soon as I unwrapped that garbage, the thing just disintegrated in front of me. The bread was so weak and the sauce was so wet that the bread couldnt even hold up on its own. I had to eat the goddamn thing with a fork. I seriously feel ripped off coming here. I am going to make sure I tell all my friends never to come here again and I hope the owner of Baalbek reads this. I honestly don't know how people come here to eat at this joint and I can't comprehend how this guy can afford the rent on such valuable property serving such garbage. YOUR SHAWARMA IS BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD
MK is one of the best people I have ever met, and I hope she had a happy birthday last week! The years grow longer, but the heart remembers, and I hope you are well. I am easy to find, though I cannot say the same for you. And there's at least a chance I still haven't found you, since maybe your name is like "Jane Smith" in Orleans. Just in case it is you, though, I'll give a call later this week.
For being in the service industry for years, I really wasn`t all that impressed with this establishment. For those who have allergies to food be careful. especially if they are contact allergies that can occur from not properly cleansing cooking tools before re-using them. I`m also quite sure that while I was waiting for my few rolls that took almost an hour to make, the chef wasn`t wearing anything to protect his hands or the food. It took almost an hour to receive my rolls, which is ridiculous considering how much staff was working with the chef. Also I noticed that the cashiers are not only handling the cash but making some of the food. You might not see a problem with this, but they are often rushing back and forth from making food and dealing with customers. Money is quite possibly the dirtiest things to touch your hands. As for the cashiers serving, it wouldn`t be so bad if they didn`t look like they were awkwardly bringing you a lunch on a cafeteria tray. I`m almost POSITIVE anyone who has served for ANY time in their life would scoff at how these dishes are being placed on a cafeteria tray. It looked so difficult and bulky and just not at all fun to carry, especially since the plates are far too big for the tray itself. If I had to serve like that I would blow a gasket. Despite everything I had seen go on at this very deceiving place I ate my order and went on about my busy day. The rolls were mediocre at that. I am NOT a staff from a competing restaurant. I am from North Van. and have been working in restaurants across the country for years. Was in Ottawa for a few months visiting friends before flying on to Calgary (which if you actually want AMAAAAZING sushi, SHIKIJI has you covered. excellent, excellent food.) As for the regulars that go in, I`m sure you are only seeing what is meant for you to be seen for you to be impressed. For everyone who has been in the industry go for yourself and watch carefully. For those of you who have allergies to ANY of the ingredients there watch while everything is being made and ask how everything was made. For serious allergies this really isn`t any joke. I've posted on urbanspoon as well. also called in to the ottawa food and health dept. and made a complaint.
An acquaintance and I decided to go out for dinner last Saturday night.We opted for Italian food at La Piazza. This restaurant is a little out of the way ,however defintely worth the trip.If you didn't know the address you would probably barely notice this place except that every outdoor seat was taken and we just managed to get a table inside where the decor was cozy traditional Italian style.We were greeted very well at the door and quickly led to our table.The menu is quite decent with a good selection.As it was my first time here I decided to try a few things to check out the menu. For starters I chose a mista salad and carpaccio. Both were generous in size and very tasty. My main dish was veal scallopini that was served with a white wine and garlic sauce. It was quite good. As I always judge a good Italian restaurant by the quality of its pasta dishes I asked our waiter to bring me a small side dish of pasta and tomato sauce to try some of their pasta. He brought me a large dish which I later brown bagged and brought home(at no charge). My friend had the baked lasagna and tirmisu for dessert ,and told me that both were really good. I concude by saying that this was an excellent meal which cost about $100.00 for both of us.Portions were generous and the service was fantastic from the moment we arrived to the time we left.I will go back to this restaurant to check out some of their other items.We did phone ahead to get a table, so reservations are required here as in most very good restaurants.
I had a business dinner here with colleagues. The three courses that we had were all delicious, mussels, soup of the day and rack of lamb for me; the lobster ravioli was very well done also. The portions are not at all skimpy for an upscale restaurant (in fact they might be a bit too large). Everyone enjoyed their meal, I also appreciated the friendly, helpful and unpretentious service . Dessert was wonderful and we were treated to several complimentary "in between courses" treats from the great owner, Frank.
A family-owned real Italian restaurant. Wonderful veal dishes (I have ordered veal piccata all over the country and have never had anything even remotely as good as theirs). Also great seafood, manicotti, parmigiana, and other first class Italian cuisine. Inexpensive wines are available by the carafe plus bottled wines. To top it all, homemade tiramisu!
\We opted to try La Piazza through other reviews and we were not disappointed. When we arrived they had almost every table full and the older host warned us that the kitchen was slow (uh-oh.) Nevertheless, we stayed and started out with a Ensalada Capresse which was delicious, lots of mozzarella. My wife and 3 year old shared the linguini alfredo with shrimp and I had the gnocchi. We didn't wait an extraordinary amount of time for our food despite the host's warnings. The food was excellent and exactly what we expected from a truly good Italian restaurant. The owner and his wife were making the rounds making sure everyone was attended to and we overheard them telling another table that each meal was made to order so food sometimes takes a few minutes more than what's considered "normal." At the end of our meal, our 3 year old had made friends with the waitress and she brought out a complimentary piece of tiramisu...amazing, amazing, amazing. Light but yet full-flavored, just what I would expect from a "real" tiramisu. Don't go there in a rush or expecting them to turn orders on a dime, but rather with time to enjoy a good meal with family where you know each plate is made just for you.
