Saturday, April 28, 2012 I went in for a falafel. The older gentleman behind the counter told me that he, his brothers, his wife, and his 5 kids are here from Iraq. No problem. Glad he found sanctuary here.
Then he told me 9/11 was an American conspiracy.
I walked out.
No one should tolerate a business which employs overt bigots and any proponent of systemic murder.
I'll come back when he is gone - you should not give them your business either
Hard to understand him but the owner of this place is the friendliest guy I know. Generous portions, delicious meat (soft and tasty, he actually uses a special recipe), will always make the sandwich you want, and that for the lowest price I know in town. Only drawbacks: you could stay there to enjoy your shawarma but it's a little cramped, best walk to Rideau. Also the debit machine has had a lot of issues, either slow or ends up not working well.
So bring cash if you want to be sure. The small-size shawarma is $4.50 during the week, half-price for women on mondays and a little more expensive on wednesday. But for uOttawa students or anyone in the ares, it's a rewardingly filling deal well worth the trek.
