It's sad that this is the only place available in the train station , so make sure you eat before going to meet your Train, Food was old quite tasteless unless old is a taste and had very bad heartburn a couple of hours later , not high on my list of places to eat.
Saturday, 18 May, we went for an early supper. Only one other table had guests when we arrived.
Food was good. Service was friendly, until I mentioned the bathrooms needed to be cleaned.
Full garbage cans, and filthy sinks and toilets in both the men’s' and ladies' rooms. Yuck!
Next time, I will be checking out the bathrooms before I order anything, if I ever go again.
I've been stopping here at least once a week, every summer for the past 2 years.... I believe last year it was under new ownership. The food was even better! Home made burgers, fresh gravy and the best fries I've had in the East end. Greaquantity fo rthe price. Looking forward to the new season!!!
If I could give this place zero stars, I would, but unfortunately, I am forced to give it the obligatory one star. The fiance and I went here for casual dining, hoping for good Mediterranean food, but were sorely disappointed. There was nothing redeeming about the place. The decor was mediocre at best. The service was nothing special. And worst of all, the food was terrible.
We each got a shwarma plate, the chicken was dry and too salty. There was really no chicken, just some jerky-like substance that resembled the crusty, dried carcass of some animal. The texture was definitely unlike anything I've ever had before.
The rice had an odd flavor-- it tasted greasy and like sesame oil. The "salad" was made of produce that looked like it had been sitting out for a week, and the tomatoes were mealy. The pita was straight out of a package and dry.
After eating here, we went to in-n-out to have a milkshake to cleanse our palettes of the gross meal we just had.
I enjoy my coffee and goodies. Unfortunately I noticed a whole heep of issues and troubles when I walked into the Treats at Billings Bridge.
The first thing was that the signs indicating prices for food and beverages were not correct. Weird.... Shouldnt they give me the products for the price that is displayed? The prices they charged are higher then indicated on there menu.
Then I wondered if I really wanted anything from this location as I noticed huge clumps of brown dust hanging from the ceiling. Wondering, is this in the food and drink? Probably! I was watching the dust as chunks of it fell on the floor and muffin display case.
I think I shall not eat or drink here.
Another issue that seemed rather odd was that I saw a white fire extinguisher laying on the floor and the silver pin on the counter.
What is going on here?
The four of us really enjoy coming to the Baseline location. The burritos are the best we have ever had and we were there today for lunch on the 29th March. We all agreed the burritos were delicious, but still feeling a bit hungry we decided to order the nachos.
They were by far the worst nachos ever! For a start the nachos were piled into the centre of the tray, thereby assuring that the toppings would be only on the top of the pyramid instead of spread out over nachos that were spread evenly on the tray. The process cheese was truly disgusting, a few vegetables with a blob of sour cream and a blob or quacamole on top! The chips underneath the top layer of course had nothing on them, and it was impossible to spread out the quac and sour cream.
Truly you should either remove them from the menu or vastly improve them. Also they should have gone into the oven to toast a little which they did not.
You asked for a review so this is an honest one for you to improve whilst at the same time congratulating you on your staff and the generally outstanding food you serve there.
Sincerely,
Sandra Giancola
The wife and I have made this our new spot for our nights off from the kids. The new owners have finally hit the nail on the head with this great little spot.
The food was spot on, my wife LOVES the Crab Cakes while I am currently working my way through the menu. My latest crush; the NOLA Filet Mignon, grilled perfectly and topped with crawfish and bearnaise, it was absolutely perfect.
The service was matching the food, knowledgeable and personable, Judy never seems to dissapoint us, and has a sense of humor that keeps spirits high.
Overall, a great experience I highly recommend. See for yourself, you will not be let down by these folks!
This is a small neighborhood restaurant. Please don't go so I can get in on my next visit. We made a last minute reservation and got a table. The Mista salad is delicious . The bread is delicious. We had filet mignon and Lasagna, both were cooked perfectly and delicious. The best part was that we were seated next to a regular who was friends with the owner . He made sure that we had fantastic service and were well taken care of which was very nice. If you like small, quaint family restaurants where the food is good and everyone seems happy this is the place.
Don't order anything rare, or don't expect it cooked the way you like it! I asked them several times not to over cook my Kabbab and to make the lamb rare, but was met with resistance the whole way in the end the meat was dry over cooked and tasteless. I mean why would they want to please their customers it's not like the customer is gonna eat it! for all who said this place makes the best of anything you need to get out more. Try Shawarma Palace just down the street. it was my second and last time ever ordering from here again the first time the lamb if you can believe it was even more over cooked. I will say they are friendly but very very stubborn, and have no clue what customer service means.
We have ordered few times from this place and every time they messed the order. We kept giving them chances to support the local business but not anymore. On our last order, they only gave us half of our order, where the main dish was missing. When we called, the response was come pick up or we will deliver it to you in 1.5 hours. This was unacceptable, as it was dinner time and their mistake. We asked for our money back which we were declined, and the owner was very rude and unwilling to accept responsibility. On top of that, the food we received tasted horrible with no flavor and went directly into the garbage can. Save your money and trouble and do not order from there.
My husband & I were first introduced to La Piazza by my cousin who use to live in Barrhaben. On route to the restaurant w/our 1 year old son, we spoke to a woman & her young daughter on the street for directions. She & her daughter spoke highly of the restaurant plus she herself was a chef in the area. We were blown away by the food & service. Our son slept the whole time while my husband & cousin enjoyed a thoroughly amazing authentic meal. They had an impressive alcohol collection & were able to pair our meals perfectly. Our second visit was just the two of us on a date nite weekend get away & we were thoroughly impressed again. This is one of those must do when you visit Ottawa! We can't wait for our next getaway!
Without doubt the best meal we had in Ottawa and indeed one of the best dining experiences we have ever enjoyed in any city. From the nicely balanced and extensive menu choice we elected to have two of the pasta dishes and accompanying wines.Everything was delightful, beautifully presented and well paced. The olive oil and balsamic served with the home made bread was fabulous. The staff are top notch, knowedgeable about the menu and the wines and with a friendly, efficient and discrete manner - not always an easy combination to pull off but they were all first rate. In our experience it is rare to find a restaurant that manages to deliver fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere and La Piazza totally nailed it for us. Grazie!!
This by far was possibly my worst dining experience in Ottawa, or perhaps my entire life. I went on a tuesday around 8pm and the restaurant was about half full. They brought papadum's right away, which was a nice welcoming. 15 minutes later the waitress asked for our drink order and I asked to order our food at the same time. One thing to mention is be careful if you have a Groupon, they will change the rules on you when you order. Initially you can order anything off the menu but then I was told I can't order the Namaste India Special Platter.
There were no napkins, I needed one because the papadum's were greasy. I asked the waitress for one. Waited 15 minutes but nothing arrived. I went and grabbed two and was suddenly confronted by a waitress saying "That's a lot of napkins". Who say's that?. We ordered the chicken tandoori appetizer, what came was a 1/4 of a chicken breast with lots of tomato's and onions. Very disappointing.
1 hour goes by and there's no sign of our food. We've been in the restaurant for 1 hour and a half losing our appetite. A couple that came 30 minutes after us received their food 15 minutes before we got ours. When the food came, I ordered 3 naan, butter chicken (for the lady) and a lamb korma for myself. Upon tasting the korma, it tastes nothing like lamb. Definitely taste like goat. My gf said the chicken has a weird texture. I took a bite into one and the chicken was not cooked, without second guessing.
I called the waitress over and explained the chicken was uncooked and they could make someone very sick. She replied back "The chicken is fine". I told her the lamb is actually goat. She then took everything back to her chef. 5 minutes later she came back and said the chicken was not cooked. The kitchen also didn't have lamb so they substituted goat. I like goat but it would have been nice to know beforehand. I told her I did not want anything else and please send the check. No apology whatsoever for serving us par-cooked chicken.
They charged me for the uncooked chicken dish and said we had to pay because my gf took a bite out of a piece of chicken. Being furious as I was and didn't want to make a scene, I paid my bill ($50) and left hungry.
If you want real indian food with great service and great food, go to Coconut Lagoon or Host India in Vanier, you surely won't be disappointed.
Shawarma prince at merivale, is my favourite shawarma restaurant. My family loves to eat the many dishes, including Shawarma, humous, Greek salad and more. The quality is excellent, the portions are huge, so don’t order too much food. In addition, the service is verygood, friendly and fast. As far as the ambiance is concerned, the restaurant is very clean.
I love this place and I would definetly recommended !!
Fantastic Italian, authentic and inviting just as you would expect. We keep going back at least once every couple of months. I just made plans to take my wife there on Valentines day, they have a fantastic menu and always have specialties for events like that. The pasta's are wonderful, the chicken is always a good bet and we generally have a great time.
I ordered some shawarma's and assumed that it would be take away, the server assumed otherwise. When he realized that it was a take away, he muttered something in Arabic that was insulting and abusive.
Needless to say, I wont be going back there in a rush! The employees should be disciplined and made to understand that they have to be courteous to the customers otherwise their shawarma's wont sell.
The staff were EXCELLENT working with my father and I for planning a rehearsal dinner for my own wedding. Presented with a specific budget, the head chef created a specialized menu. The venue was beautiful (the dining area which was sectioned off for our group) and the food was beyond amazing. The food at my actual wedding paled in comparison. Have been back at least twice to the restaurant since the rehersal dinner, each time better than the last.
My boyfriend and I have eaten here multiple times and we absolutely love it!! We're not from the area, but travel to Ottawa about once every few months. The staff, service, food, and atmosphere are amazing! Some of our favourite dishes are the Chicken Marsala, Steak (any!!), and Calamari appetizer. If your in the area or just stopping in Ottawa for a night, this is definitely the place to eat!! We'll be back again soon!!
I ordered the advertised Ramen Noodle special for lunch. The cashier didn't even know what Ramen was, not a good sign. But never the less I ordered the Duck Miso Ramen soup.
Really awful. It actually made me angry. The person who made this soup, obviously had never eaten a decent bowl of noodles in their life. The noodles were like the packaged instant type, pale white starch, undercooked, mushy, and rancid to boot. The soup was some sort of Thai base with miso mixed into it, tasteless, watery, and with some sort of vinegary finnish. To add insult to injury, they garnished it with a clump of shredded carrot hair, a little dried seaweed, and a handful of edamame. But the kicker was the red kidney beans, who puts kidney beans in Japanese soup? The only decent ingredient was the duck, which I assume they bought in Chinatown. This is obviously one of those mediocre franchises riding the wave of sushi popularity, driving the fish to extinction and catering to people ignorant of what a decent japanese meal really is. I don't even want to sample their so called sushi. I left without asking for a refund, which is what I should have done. I'm still angry.
Not only did the ambiance remind me of my other favorite Italian eatery in Positano, Italy but the experience restored my faith that there is at least ONE restaurant that can serve perfect al dente pasta in Canada . The fettucini with bolognese sauce was rich and flavorsome , and the penne salsiccia was simply perfect . Flavors were fresh and true - no over-seasoning . Service was faultless and the wine list well suited to the menu . We had a divine bottle of Righetti Amarone. Not cheap , but worth every dollar spent
