Wimpy's on Park Road is basically a really good family diner. It doesn't pretend to be anything else.
Is it fancy, and is the food on the cutting edge of modern cuisine? No. Is it a great place to take the family for breakfast, or for some diner-style favourites? Absolutely.
The service is friendly and engaging, and they are frequently checking to see if you need refills on your drinks or coffee. The decor is a 50's diner feel, with tin signs on the walls and lots of booths for groups to sit in.
Wimpy's hambugers are famous for their taste and size, and their burger platters are a solid foundation for their menu. Their soups are usually quite good, as are their greek and caesar salads. The souvlaki dinner is quite good (ask for extra tzatziki), and my wife enjoys their beef dip sandwich. This is one of the few places where even the beef liver with fried onions is good. The meatloaf is rather bland, unfortunately.
The prices are always reasonable, especially their daily specials, and kids have the option of choosing from their own kid-friendly menu.
This isn't the place to take prospective business clients for an impressive meal, but it's a great destination when everyone's hungry and the family cook needs a break!
