Zeitoon serves authentic Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine.
Went for lunch on a weekday and they are open at noon, versus 11:30 for most lunch places. Several types of kabobs to chose from but chose the lamb shank. It was very good and came with a great sauce which went well with the fluffy rice. Also came with a nice salad. At below $10, thought this was a good deal for lunch at a sit down restaurant. Yaas supermarket is up the street and they do a great kabob and lamb shank as well and cheaper but it is a more self serve style.
Nice new paint and decoration done on the former chinese restaurant and service was top notch. Will be back to try the kabobs which were enjoyed by my companions.
Happened here during their happy hour which takes a few dollars off of some of the dishes that are already very reasonably priced. The menu is nice and concentrated, and it shows in the execution of the food. The chicken kabab is very nice. The lamb shank with dill rice is a definite star. Nice tender lamb that easily glides apart as your fork presses down on it. Service is efficient without being pushy. All in all a good place to stop in for a meal when on the north shore.
Persian cuisine in a modern & chic ambiance at great prices. Zeitoon Restaurant is a true gem in North Vancouver's Central Lonsdale.
The atmosphere is great. Pictures of old Tehran along with persian music makes you feel you are dining in iran.
The staff are very friendly and polite.
The food is just great. It tastes like the food that you get in best persian restaurants in tehran and elsewhere in iran.
The restaurant also offers wine and beer which is fantastic because most persian restaurants don`t offer alcoholic drinks.
Went there with three others for dinner after reading nothing but good reviews on other websites. The praise was well deserved. We started with a hommus dish, which was totally authentic and exquisite in both presentation and taste. Two of us had shishlick lamb kebabs which were juicy and tasted like lamb should. One had the tenderloin AAA beef kebabs which were tender, succelent and of the highest quality. The kebabs were served with saffron basmati rice which was aromatic and delicate to the taste. One of us had the lamp shank. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone and it was marinated with a house sauce that added to the exotic flavour. It was served with basmatic rice mixed with dill weed and lima beans. In a nutshell, relatively simple dishes (like most Persian fare) but presented beautifully and most importantly, which tasted wonderful. All four have vowed to return ASAP. My wife and I will not wait until then and will return first with other friends we plan to introduce this new gem of a restaurant to.
I had walked by this place and was curious for a while. Dragged my unwilling partner there, trying to get him to try new things.
Ambiance is nice. clean. welcoming.
Greeted right away and were seated VERY close to another table. Asked if we could move, not a problem.
A man took our order. I ordered filet mignon kabob. Hubby, chicken cabob. A basket of pita bread and half an onion was placed on our table. Never found out what the onion was for. It was wrapped in saran wrap.
A woman brought our food and awkardly asked if we wanted anything else? Like what? I asked. She just smiled.
Chicken was good. Filet mignon tasted like liver. It was impossible to chew. I had to spit it in my napkin.
I told female server. She smiled and said it was the marinade. I sade no, its chewy. she said sorry and walked away....leaving our plates
Male server came and asked how everything was. I told him about the kabob. He sais sorry and walked away....leaving our plates behind.
Female server returned and I told her again. She said sorry and finally took our plates.
We paid our bill by debit and she hovered behind my husband while he used the portable machine.
We wanted it to be good....but it was not....good..won't be back.
Good prices thankfully since I had to pay for a meal I didn't eat.
