"North American Chinese" with dining room and take out.
Now to write a review that's worth reading(?)
Woon Lee Inn. It use to be our late night Chinese restaurant for to order from for our "need good quality westernised Chinese binge food...NOW! place." Until last weekend.
Since we haven't ordered our Chinese fix for a bit, what arrived (promptly) was not what was expected. We ordered our three staples.. Chicken chow main. WoonLee Inn speacial fried rice, steamed veggies;
they were as expected. But the two new items (ginger beef) was just LEFT OVER THREAD THICK BEEF that was deep fried with ten times more batter than meat. No ginger and we needed to look very hard for the beef(where's the beef?) If you order this, just think of a beefish popcorn.
The second disappointment was the costly lemon chicken. One breast, dry with some packing material white filler. I'm not sure if this white stuff was edible. I didn't expect to pay for something that I could pack electronics in instead of chicken.
Next well try another "MUST HAVE GREASIE NOW! food."
I've tried every Chinese food place within a 30 minute drive and there's none as good as Woon Lee. The ginger beef, chop suey, and sweet and sour pork are Friday night staples. I adore this place's prices, and they nail every one of your favorite american chinese food dishes. It's always hot, crispy, fresh and well spiced/seasoned.
We have been eating here for DECADES now and won't change. The huge leftovers from a very reasonably priced meals make the family happy
The food is really very good, we thoroughly enjoy it. We've had a variety of dishes- Shanghai noodles, ginger beef, chicken and vegetables in a potato nest, spring rolls, wor wonton, special chow mein - all have been consistently delicious. And no MSG? What a bonus! Our new favourite Chinese food restaurant.
seems all the chinese takeout places in north vancouver pollute their food with msg and other nasties. woon lee has great food without the extras!
if you're a sweet and sour boneless pork junkie try the honey garlic derivative... you'll never go back to the orange stuff!
the restaurant dining are is not exactly stellar. reminds me of an old diner. go for the take out if you can, but if you can't sit back and relax with a beer and enjoy what i think is the best chinese in north vancouver.
