White Spot located on Lonsdale in North Vancouver. With over 60 locations in British Columbia and Alberta, White Spot has been serving unique, freshly prepared dishes in a contemporary, casual atmosphere for over 75 years.
For about a week, I've seen those "Burger Creation" adverts from White Spot... Well, last weekend, I had a hankering for a good burger, so I walked about 10 blocks to go get one... I hate it when advertising works on me.
Anyway, went for Chuck's favourite... It was topped with a brie/bleu cheese which was quite decadent compared to your old run of the mill Wendy's, with a side of chunkier fries, cole slaw and onion ring curls. The burger was cooked perfectly... Nice and juicy. The cole slaw was also nice... crunchy and cold.
Service was pretty good... had to ask for water though...
Everything and a draft beer came up to 20 bucks... A little on the pricey side, but at least satiated my burger craving.
Well after years and years '' WHITE SPOT '' is still one of the families favorites. with the traditional and i mean traditional legendary hamburgers. i also love the cole-slaw. I'AM glad that White Spot has taken a huge step in introducing a lot more variety on their menu, including starters and salads, ect. It was time White Spot took a big step and they did it well. Also their milk shakes are still very good, service and decor also good. iI will be back, Oh before i sign off, White Spot please try and keep the french fries hotter, Thanks. Allan Cassidy
Came here for breakfast. This location just finished some dining room renos, and the staff were not used to the new setup, so one side was packed and the other practically empty. We were on the emptier side and barely saw the servers, who always looked rushed. We ordered off the Quick Start menu and then waited about half an hour for pancakes and a fried egg sandwich with fruit. The sandwich was tasty, but the pancakes were blob-shaped and tasteless. And the fruit bowl had canned stuff in it, so much for their slogan of "fresh thinking." The renos did make the dining room look more comfortable, but the food and service will keep me away.
I don't think 2 stars avg rating is representative so I'll add my 2 cents. I've probably eaten at this location 30 times in the last 3 years, as my wife's maternity clinic is down lonsdale and she loves her some white spot for lunch.
The good:
-Some of the staff, particularly one or two of the waitresses, are fantastic. Cheery, fun, efficient, just great all around.
-They renovated this restaurant about 4-5 months ago to bring it in line with the new White Spot look. Prior to that it was the old White Spot look, which was probably 15 years old.
The not good:
-Quality of food coming out of the kitchen is hit and miss, mostly miss. Burgers are often over-done and they don't clean the grill, so you end up with the charred bits left over from the previous 10 burgers they cooked. And don't even bother ordering something other than a burger because they're incapable of cooking anything else on the menu. This is typical of White Spot chain-wide these days, however.
