My recommendation is that you eat at either the West Broadway or Robson street locations. This is amongst the worst Red Robin Restaurants out there. Ranks pretty much beside the Metrotown location, because I honestly can't see how it can get any worse. I went there with a friend of mine. It was 15 minutes before anyone came by, and, another 15 minutes before we got our drinks. So then our food came, we still didn't have utensils or napkins. There were Servers everywhere, but, the ones who didn't avoid eye contact with us, they simply said ok, and didn't bring us any napkins. It was just terrble. The Taco Salad my friend ordered, the Taco was stale! It was just horrible. If you want to really have a good experience at a Red Robin Restuarant, then, I recommend going to the West Broadway Location, the Management and Service here just cannot be any worse.
We do not give up easy so we tried it again, only to be dissapointed again. There was lots of staff on location but the service was slow and did not make sense. The pop was flat. The food came out at different times. The table set up with hap hazard. The restaurant was dirty. And the prices are high. For the past 15 years or so, something has always been wrong with this location. It seems as if that the attitude there is that they just dont give a dam. They rely on sports teams and families on the weekends and could care less about overall service. We will try again in another few years and post an update.
Mrs. C and I were dashing out for some pre-fireworks food and we needed it in a hurry. We stopped at RR, and dashed in for a quick bite.
The place was nice enough inside, and it looked clean. Plus it was quiet. Maybe too quiet. There were 3 tables occupied including ours. That seemed weird for a Saturday night.
Service was okay, but the servers seemed to be mostly gossiping at the bar and weren't really paying attention to the few customers. Food was nothing to write home about. I had a guacamole bacon beef burger which was slightly undercooked but tasted fine. Mrs. C. had a basic burger. Her burger came with exactly 10 fries. Now that is what I call portion control ! ;( We didn't have time to order more or to check if her meal came with bottomless fries. I had a beer that was served in a wet glass, so it was flat by the time the server plunked it down on the table.
Would we come back? This place is only slightly better than McD's, so I doubt it.
We went for dessert at the Capilano location on Friday night - we were craving their Monster Mud Pie. The dessert was good as ususal, but the service and cleanliness of the restaurant were something to be desired.
French fries were on the floor when we came into the restaurant and when we left the restaurant an hour later, they were still on the floor. The 4 tables that they brought us to were ALL dirty - they had to clean a table for us.
The whipped cream and nuts that normally goes on our dessert were being used as a spray gun by the staff. They were spraying each other with whipped cream! One girl had it all over her top, while another guy had it sprayed on his head and shirt. All in perfect view of customers (being me and my two employees). Then to our horror, they put the same whipped cream that they were spraying each other with onto OUR dessert !!! Yuck, yuck, yuck. I'm never going back to that location again. I might slip and fall on the food on the floor or get sick from the unsanitary whipped cream canister.
I've asked for a refund of our $20 desserts, so we'll have to see if that happens.
I actually like Red Robin's. Well, maybe the truth is my friends like Red Robin's and I don't mind it. The food is ok, the service, if a bit slow, does eventually get around to you, and the bottomless fries, though a bit pale, are nevertheless hot and crunchy.
My big problem though is that three times in the last few years I've been served a seriously undercooked burger, pink and bloody in the center, and it's finally caught up to me, striking me down with cramps, fever and things better left unsaid.
They're always very apologetic, preparing a fresh properly cooked burger and taking it off the bill, but it's worth a heads up that you might want to cut open your burger before going to town on it. The fact that they wrap it makes it a little difficult, but believe me it's better than the things "better left unsaid." Urp.
And it was just a burger. It cost the best part of $10 and it had no flavor. I had the plain burger(under cooked) and fries to go(under cooked). In order to get flavor I guess I should have paid the extra(at least a buck) for pepper jack cheese or bacon or bourbon sauce.
But I would have thought that for that price it should have some flavor. It was large but that's about it.
The burger came with mustard, ketchup and mayo but the mayo was on the side. Not much good being on the side. Unless they thought that I am Dutch and the mayo was for my fries.
Will I go back for a burger? Not at that price and do it your own flavor. Will I try this place again? Maybe. The place was Disneylandish and might be the place to take kids on a rainy Sunday.
I'm an avid Red Robin fan and have been to Surrey, Robson and North Van. Always had great service at all but North Van is my local now and does the job like no other burger joint can! Five-alarm burger will rock your world if you are bold enough to try! Best burgers in the world bar none! Always friendly, clean and good expedient service. I would wear a Red Robin T-shirt for free I'm that much of a fan!
