Raven Pizza is the new owner of Jan’s Classic Pizza. Jan Dallin has been delighting customers with her classic pizza favourites for more than 26 years – and when she sold the business she was looking for a like-minded proprietor. It was a perfect fit when Jennifer and the Raven came looking for a new North Shore location.
I saw a flyer for this place and decided it was time to try the new contender in the pizza wars. This place has a website so you can order online and have your pizza ready when you get there, even if you are planning a week ahead. I found the ordering process easy, and sure enough the pizza was on the counter when I got there. The restaurant is just takeout, although there are a couple of microscopic spots where you could theoretically eat your pizza. I preferred to take mine home where Mrs. C was waiting. I can say the place looked very clean, which is a plus no matter what your dining preferences.
The server seemed a bit confused (they are newly opened) and kept insisting that I had already paid. I was tempted to agree, but my conscience got the better of me and I demanded my right to fork over my dough for some baked dough :).
I found the pizza to be pricey and after a few bites it was clear that it was not worth the extra money. It was tasty enough, but not sufficiently delicious to make swallowing the hefty price any easier. It might be worth it if you get the pepperoni special on Monday - Wednesday, but you can go to any other pizza place and get the same thing for less any day of the week.
For the hardcore Raven fans only...
I arrived at about 11:45am on my 45 minute long lunch break. The server took about 5 minutes to even place my order, continually touching the screen and looking confused. He told me my pizza would be about15 minutes, but it was 12:15 before I got my pizza and my lunch break was already over. When I finally got the chance to eat the pizza, the crust was very greasy and it felt like an entire onion had been chopped up and placed on my small sized pizza. I had to pick most of it off before I could taste anything else on it. Not worth the $15 I spent, or my wasted lunchbreak.
OK, been in North Van, some years now. Yes that ole Pizza shop originally was called '' Pizza Pie Man '' in the mid 1960's. I had that great pizza from time to time. Then it became Jan's Pizza, which i loved also basically the same type of ingredients in a pizza as the'' Pizza Pie Man.'' After many years with Jan at the helm she retired ( we miss you Jan ) Now the beloved pizza place has changed hands again. Hold on, sorry for going on in a pizza history lesson, but that same small place has been there for some 36 plus years now. well it is now '' Raven Pizza ''. Yes i have had a few pizza's from there. Raven Pizza i love your pizza, you do have a good product, and i will be a repeat customer. I Allan wish you much success , but gotta be honest your no Jan's. all the best, Review by Allan Cassidy
