Just OK Pho

Not too many choices for Pho on the North Shore. Spotted this place a few months ago and went during the week. Tried one of their combo meat Pho's. The soup was a bit bland when compared to some others I've tried. Size for a large is average with good amount of meat. Quality of the meat was just average. Noodles were standard. Service was quick and price at $8 for large is a bit on the high side. Ambiance is bare and standard for Pho places. Overall, just OK.

Pho in North Van

As most people from the North Shore can attest to... the Vietnamese cuisine is under represented. This place opened up not too long ago. I usually go to the place right off Cambie and Broadway that's open 24 hours.. some Vietnamese name... and that place is what I would use to rate my pho palette. This place has the typical no sense decor.. basically meaning there is none... you're there for the soup not the ambiance. They have a TV and a few copies of the 24 and Metro... that's all you need!

If you're on the North Shore and don't want to drive to Vancouver, then I would say it's great! There have been times when I've been craving some pho and go here for my fix. I am a simple pho eater, only get rare eye round.. no tripe or fatty beef for me. I also like salad rolls, but don't like them here... the peanut sauce is lack luster and meh just in general not that great. I do like their spring rolls though. But back to the pho...

They give you lots of sprouts, lots of basil and it's good for being one of the only places on the North Shore. I still like the other place the best though. I will say though, the last time I went there (2 weeks ago), I went there pretty late (9 pm) and woke up at around 1 am and made friends with my toilet... not sure what happened there. I've eaten there at least a dozen times and no complaints before. I will return there again despite that, however I think I might wait a little... I'm a little turned off pho at the moment :)

Real authentic pho in NS

This hidden gem was just opened recently at the location where bagel shop was, right next to the 12th & Lonsdale corner store. I believe it's relative of a restaurant with same name that is located on Kingsway. Excellent soup - very authentic. I ordered #2 rare beef & beef ball, which is as good as any Vancouver East-side Pho restaurant. It was accompanied by lots of bean sprouts and basil, lime and hot pepper. You don't need to cross the bridge to get the real authentic pho now.

Pho on the Shore?!

My girlfriend and I had lunch there this afternoon. We were excited to have a new Pho restaurant on the North Shore... the decor was ok if you like bright lime green walls and a continuous "hum" from the furnace? But this review isn't about the decor or your ear comfort?! It's about Pho food.. OK... so it's a rainy Saturday afternoon, and the restaurant was fairly quiet for 1pm... about 4 customers or so. The service was very fast.. waitress fairly friendly. I ordered the vermichelli noodles with grilled pork slices and fried roll... it was just 'skay'... my g'friend ordered the grilled lemongrass chicken with fried roll and rice.. She said it was also just "skay".. The portions were decent, prices quite high for Pho but MOST importantly... it was lacking flavour unless you drowned it in their spicey vinegary sauce. Overall I'd give it a 3+ out of 5, because it really was JUST "S'kay"....
