I have really enjoyed the food that the Orange door serves for years and it keeps me coming for more. When I picked up my food it is hot and the ingredients are fresh. The food is neither over spiced or over sweetened and the everything was cooked just right.
Being a take-out the only real service you get is food prep and payment. The prep is fine and the plastic containers that the food comes in is much better than the paper/foil type that most other Chinese food take-outs use. I like to arrive at the take-out a few minutes earlier than the pick up appointment so the food is right off the wok.
The Value is comparable to most places, I have always thought Chinese take-out was on the slightly high side.
Ambiance, well it is just a take-out set up so they are definitely more concerned with function than decor. I do like to watch the cooks do there thing while I am at the counter.

I've been told this for many years and the longer I live the more I understand what they were telling me.
The main problem with the Orange door is that you can see them cooking you food.
This should reassure us Right? Not this time. They have new owners and the food is getting cheap. As if it's were not before. But when the delivery driver is the kitchen help and he does not wash his hand when he gets back from a delivery and takes a very dirty pale of food off the floor and touches the bottom of the very dirty pale and proceeds to place the very dirty bucket on the butchers block and starts to get my chicken out of the freezer I lost it. Yuck Yuck Yuck and OH MY GOD YUCK!
If I were the new owners I would have had a clean start. I would have taken a month off and clean every thing out and as it looks like it has never been done EVER! and start a fresh.
But I will never EVER go back there again.
What happened? Why are these little restaurant just not caring any more? Is there any good Chinese restaurants left in North Vancouver?

Yes if you pick up there you will notice the kitchen is a bit old but the family that runs it is very clean and VERY FAST!!!!
You can order your meal ( I usually order the dinner for 3)
This dinner consists of full orders of:
Almond Chicken (Which you can sub for another chicken dish)
Beef and Broccoli
Sweet and Sour Pork
Chicken Chow Mein
3 spring rolls
All for about 28 dollars.
If you pick up you get a 10% discount
If you get delivery you get free won ton soup being that your order is over $20
if your order is over $30 then you get free full order of Chicken fried rice.
Amazing value.
Every thing is super fresh, and super tasty. I have had Chinese food from many many places and this one is by far the best I've had.
I had friends over one night .. we were hungry after a long hike and I ordered from Orange Door at 7pm and it was at my door by 7:20 I"m not kidding. They are consistently that fast EVERYTIME.
If I had the money I would invest in this place!

WILL NEVER EVER ORDER CHINESE FROM ANY OTHER PLACE ON THE NORTH SHORE.
