Food was okay.

I decided to order the lamb souvlaki, came with potatoes, rice and change the greek salad to garden salad. I wish I could rave about the food, found the lamb dry, rice on the spicy side and potatoes okay. I did like the garden salad. My meal came to under $20.00.
I found the service friendly, wasn't busy for the lunch time, just got them when they open at 5pm. I felt for the price it was okay. Maybe they had an off night.

I went here with Mrs. C because we were in the neighbourhood, and we wanted to try a new place. The restaurant has all the typical Greek touches: bright coloured walls, fake columns, pictures of quaint fishing scenes on the walls, etc. It was very welcoming and clean. Our server was a pint-sized fellow of about 12, but he was moving like a dervish, bringing orders, clearing tables, and doing quality checks. He was also very polite.

We ordered the lamb souvlaki for me, and the calamari entree for my beloved dinner companion. Both came with the usual rice pilaf, half potato and salad. I was very surprised when I asked for mint sauce. I think they made it on the spot because it had fresh mint, oil and vinegar. That was impressive. Both meals tasted fine, but the portion sizes were a bit small. If I had one real complaint it was that the place was quite noisy. The tables were packed in tight, and the place was full to bursting, so that might explain it.

Overall a decent experience, but could be a little better value for the price.

Solid little spot

We're always on the look out for a good greek restaurant, and this one's pretty solid. Great tzatziki. Hubby thought the lamb was good, too. My halibut was very delicious and healthy tasting, though it didn't have the heavy greek flavours that I was kind of hoping for. We will definately go back.

They charge for TABASCO!

Unbelievable! Went for lunch there, having been there for dinner twice before. I asked for Tabasco sauce and hallelujah, a $1.00 charge for the 3 drops of Tabasco I used appears on the bill. I don't care about the buck - it's the principle! And the waitress is sometimes pleasant, sometimes irresponsive, sometimes rude. I will obvioiusly be spending my "Tabasco Dollar" elsewhere!!!

In their first years of operation it WAS outstanding, now it simply is been the last several visits--disappointing.

Our lamb meals were undercooked, but the Tzatziki was excellent too bad the bread was lame to eat it with.

For a being a greek restaurant, it closes too early at 9pm and starts to clean up and become noisy with the cutlery at 8pm which can be a bit much when trying to have a conversation.

Folks just keep looking because this spot is a let down.

Favourite Take-out.

Kostas has always been out favourite spot for a last minute/very fast take out option. We have enjoyed many meals in house but love bringing home the roasted lamb dinner and chicken souvlaki dinner with an appie of Saganaki. This is more than enough food for a couple or perfect for three women to share. Greek salad always so fresh as is everything else.
They are so friendly there remember us and always accommodating. I called when a dinner party of 10 turned into 20 and they put together mini souvlaki and appies to add to my buffet.
Food ready in 10-15 minutes so time to order, grab a video ,a bottle of vino next door and your home to enjoy in no time.

Excellent food! Must try 'Arni Psito' Lamb dish- will not disappoint. It is one of our Favorite Greek places. For dessert try the Baklava. It is delicious.

Service is generally good. Must make a reservation if going on a Friday or Saturday as it gets rather busy. Parking is ample as it is located at Seymour in the strip mall.

Pleasant Surprise

Some friends and I were craving Greek food, and we happened to drive by this place, so we thought we'd try it. It was busy when we got there at 6:30 on a Saturday, but luckily there was one large table left, which was perfect for us.

The decor is great - bright, sunny, very nice Mediterranean feel - not gaudy at all. It was pretty loud, but hey - it's a greek restaurant! What do you expect? We ordered the grilled calamari to start, and I got the roast lamb. It was so tender, juicy, and succulent. Plus, the portion of meat was quite large. The potato was a bit too lemony for my taste buds, but my friends thought it was great. All depends on your personal taste. The rice was nice and fluffy with some carrots and celery mixed in. Tzatziki was fresh and tasted home-made, and the salad was just perfect with the right amount of feta. Pita was nice and warm.

The only downside was that our calamari came after our entrees, so we didn't get an appetizer so much as an extra tidbit with our meals. The calamari had a distinctively smoky grill flavour to it, which was a nice change from the usual deep fried calamari. I wouldn't order this again, but it was good to try it.

Great place - I'd definitely go again. My friends had lamb and chicken souvlaki and they were all pleased with their meals as well.

A Hidden Jewel in Parkgate

This family-run fixture in Parkgate Village is worth indulging in. The Taverna Platter has all the standard Greek items; lamb, calamari, greek salad, pita (warm toasted), dolmathes and a few more that I wouldn't normally order but love to try. Meals can be on the greasy side due to the deep frying of some items, but lighter choices are an option. Homemade tzatziki with lots of garlic is a highlight. Wines from Greece round out the menu. I've never had desert here, the dinner protions are huge and i can never save room its so delicious. Prices are good. The service will surpass your expectations. The ambiance is romantic Greek, with candles and traditional music. I've never been irritated by loud children here, a great place for two. A reno last year updated this cute hideaway. Opa!
