Best Cappuccinos

This place has the very best cappuccinos, they are comparatively well priced and the people that work there are just great. They obviously enjoy being there and take pride in what they do - with good reason. I am addicted this coffee! The muffins are delicious and huge. Dog friendly patio too.

I like this place, but

This is a great location - right next to a Starbucks (which I avoid). I like JJ Bean - coffee is good, food is good, and pastries are good. Good solid fare by electic staff who seem to know their coffee and enjoy working there. But, here's the rub, why is the coffee never piping hot. It cools down when I add a touch of cream - ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh - I just hate that; and when I ask for a spot of hot milk, they get all snotty on me and ask for an extra .50c. Dammit man, I don't want a latte (if I wanted milk favoured with coffee then I would order the damn thing).

But I did notice that the music they were playing was really great coffee shop stuff - Sinatra, some Big Band, Charlie Parker - great jazz as is proper and right for coffee bars. Not the vomit-inducing Top 40, which is what they used to play (and maybe still do - but not on the day I visited).

Also - when I visited a few weeks ago, the paper-towel dispenser in the men's room was broken; on another recent trip (yesterday), it was still broken. What gives?

This place is now one of my local favs for a muffin (their bran one is huge and delicous but sells out quickly) and a latte with friends...the patio is very nice to sit in as is the indoors by the fire on a chilly day. Service is always pleasant and efficient (tho they do get crowded) and i am so glad they have taken over the Bread Garden that was here-(which was overpriced with bad tasting food)
