I go there periodically as it is kinda expensive but i find most sushi places are especially if you order all the expensive things. :) i go for the vegi sushi all the time and its always fantastic. they recognize me now and give me complimentary melons and green tea while i wait for my take-out order as i always get take-out.
also they always give me free msio soup that is pretty good and i dont even like miso soup usually!
i have never actually dined there so i cant comment on the service that way. and i do wait quite awhile for my take out but i dont mind its worthe It!

Out of the 3 sushi places in & near Deep Cove this is hands down the best. We have had lunch, dinner and take out from here and the seafood is always fresh. The dinner boxes, although a little pricier than other places are outstanding. The service is usually very pleasant, although sometimes the servers forget to refill tea and need to be flagged down. I am hooked on the sashimi salad which is what I have about 90% of the time I go there. The tatami rooms are cute and you can get some snuggles in with your honey if you ask for one of those! We've had some big family meals here and brought out of town guests here for dinner and we always had good solid food & service. This is my neighbourhood Japanese restaurant of choice and even compared to places out of the area it is excellent quality, but priced on the higher end for Japanese.

Love Genji

Genji Sushi, at parkgate in north van is my favorite place, I go hear all the time. All I can say is they make GREAT sushi. Unlike some sushi places where the servers are antisocial and rude, the servers hear are very sweet ladys who care that you are enjoying your meal. The chefs also actually say hello and goodbye! How polite of them, makes the place so welcoming! When it is busy sometimes service can be a bit slow, and they could use another server (sometimes just the one poor woman running around to all the tables), but overall they are pretty fast and have good service.
My favorite things hear are the yam tempera roles (although ask for no mushrooms if you don’t like them because they are in the role) and their dynamite role. Food is average price, not a super good deal but decent and the food is so good I don’t mind. The restaurant is also very warm, clean, and has cute booths with curtains that you can sit in, and a nice washroom. This is my favorite sushi place on the north shore and I have been to about 15. I highly recommend this place!
