Delany's Coffee House serves espresso, coffees and light snacks. There are 5 locations in the Lower Mainland.
I was in Lynn Valley when I noticed a brand new Delany's, behind the Library. I'm a regular to all their coffee locations, that first started on Denman Street, and have watch them grow over the years. I hope one day they will open another location on lower Lonsdale & Deep Cove, hint, hint, nudge, nudge, for their loyal coffee fans.
This location is spacious, bright, with lots of fresh baked goods, and find their staff friendly. If you're looking for a smooth coffee, their own Delany blend is my personal favourite & I often take home their coffee to start my day.
I will be back again.
Love this place - the staff, in general, are truly great and the coffee is quite possibly the smoothest in the city. But, we avoid the place for one simple reason - the music can be loud and obnoxious. Top 40, Elton John, Celine Dion should be banned. It's bad enough that you hear this crap everywhere you go, but a coffee house that plays this crap ruins everything.
I used to think it was only a few of us (my girlfriend and I) who felt this way, but got to chatting with a nice couple who also commented on the music and how they hated being bombarded by a wailing Whitney Houston or Celine Dion. I really wish they would change the music - I hate Starbucks but they at least have their music selection right. And, you know what, the couple, left without making a purchase.
Since christmas times started, the regular hot chocolate tasted like cinnamon and ginger milk. Last time, I mentioned it to the nice bar girl, she exchanged it, without any arguments. Today, the boss said, they have no ginger at all in the shop... Interesting, while the advertisement offers all over all gingerbread latte, chai tea etc. And the bar guy was not willing at the beginning to give me a new one. At the end, he did it...
If they do not care enough about the health of their customers (even when you mention your allergies), it is not the place, I will grab my hot chocolate in the future.
This has to be one of my favourite coffee houses, but don’t go there as much as I used to. And, yes, I too have noticed the music and thought I was the only one who paid heed to such small details. Surprising though how important such mundane matters are to customers and how little awareness cafes and restaurants seem to have of them.
One of the baristas mentioned that they had changed the music in response to customer comments, but can’t say I have noticed much difference. It’s still Top 40, though of yesteryears (classics, maybe, but it’s still Top 40). Whatever happened to the counter-culture ethos of coffee houses, where revolutions fermented and you could hear really interesting and eclectic music (not Top 40 or the usual stuff you hear in department stores, elevators, and most everywhere).
To be fair though most coffee shops and restaurants pummel you with Top 40, so shouldn’t be too hard on Delany’s.
Went here the other day, and was not disappointed! I personally believe this Delany's to be one of the best in Vancouver! We ordered three drinks, and three sandwiches, and were able to enjoy the drinks while waiting for the sandwiches to be grilled to perfection! They bring your sandwiches to your table, which is a nice treat for a coffee bar! Highly recommended.
