This location of Cupcakes is situated in Edgemont Village. Sweet pink decor and awnings entice passersby to pause for a sweet treat.
Who wants a mid-afternoon cupcake break without a cup of coffee? Is that for real?
The prices make me laugh, the girls who worked there range from being quite lovely to all together rude so it's hit or miss. The fact that they have a TV show has carried them much further than they deserve. I went a half dozen times when I first discovered them, but everyone has lost interest as the variety and consistency just isn't there.
On a personal note, I'd be surprised if they see 2013.
I totally agree what chasiubow mentioned below about the service and very dry cupcakes. I've been to the Edgemont Location a couple of times, and was impressed, when they first opened, until yesterday.
What happened to the moist, melt in your mouth freshness with your cupcakes? Are the wages that low, your bakers can't be bothered to care what they're putting into the ingredients? I only ate 1 chocolate cupcake, it tasted old & dry. My 2nd cupcake, I was upset to find blond hair strand on the 2nd cupcake, it made me wonder what I ate in my first cupcake.
Not impressed, won't be back.
I was in Edgemont Village buying books when I spotted Cupcakes. "Woo-Hoo", I said, and into the store I scampered. Maybe the clerk heard my cheer because she scowled at me while I was there and spoke in cold monosyllables throughout my transaction.
I saw they had red cocoa cupcakes. Hearkening back to my childhood I remembered having many red cocoa chocolate cakes and I was ready to eat an old friend.
Sadly I was disappointed. The cake was tasteless and dry, and the icing was sugary and tasted vaguely of rancid butter. Yech!
I really wanted to like the cupcake, but I could not. They have cupcake shaped cookies for 4 bucks, so maybe I will get one of those if I have more money to throw away.
Well, at least it was clean, bright, and pink inside the place. Some folks like that...
Can't recommend.
..cuz it is soooo cute inside but the cupcakes just don't cut it...they are dry and the frosting is oversweet-and REALLY overpriced to boot...ordered a cake there too-no better. Too bad, it would be nice to have a good cupcake place on the North Shore but this ain't it. (and i would suggest they hire better help too-cranky teens don't cut it either)
This store has awesome cupcakes now and good service, huge change from a few years ago... worth another try!! They actually bake them at the store in the morning right before they open, I saw the baker working through the window.
The chocolate cupcakes are the best but I also love everything they do with cream cheese icing.
Prices are a little high I guess but they often have day-old packages of cupcakes at a discount, and the mini day-olds I tried were just as tasty as the fresh ones.
I can't say the cupcakes are all that great, but they do sell Pop Shoppe products and those are great. It is a very hard to find, so it's nice to have it locally.
They do have a good variety of cupcakes, but I found them pretty dry and kind of small for the price. It's more of a novelty than anything in my opinion.
Why Bother
I looked forward to finally trying these hyped little cakes. I finally made it to the Edgemont store. I thought it would be a great treat for my kids. First, customer service was truly lacking. As we entered my son stated that he really had to go to the bathroom, he is only 6. The staff just stared at me and never offered their services. We were the only ones in the store. So I said lets go find a bush, as it was late and most other businesses were closed.
So after out visit to the local ally we ordered 2 cupcakes. Holy crap are they expensive. My daughter only licked off the icing and I tried a bite of hers. For the price you can find the same thing at your local grocery store along with a couple of his buddies.
One shot one time.
