Coffee, food and art

I have walked by Citroen many times and decided to try it out. I quite like how it was set up, the staff was friendly, tried muffin & Coffee and enjoyed looking at the art.
This place is relaxing, I wish I came in sooner, and got to enjoy my coffee before I started my day.
Nice spot to read a newspaper, look at art, and have a coffee.

Citroen: Relax and Drink

I would respectfully disagree with the previous poster about Citroen. In my opinion, this is a wonderful little spot in the heart of Lower Lonsdale with tremendous atmosphere and a good selection of cafe drinks and food. While the coffee drinks are good here, the key is the ambiance. One can watch the passerby traffic on Lonsdale Ave, view the art on display, or enjoy a variety of musical offerings. Citroen makes a great pit-stop for those visiting the North Shore, or wandering around the Lower Lonsdale 'hood on a Sunday morning.

Dean and Team -- the Best
By PJDuck of Vancouver (10 Reviews)

I am a fan of this cafe. I visit it regularly during the week because of:

1. Dean, owner and artist, is welcoming and cares about his guests.
2. The coffee is very good.
3. The soups are fantastic and terrific value.
4. Wi-Fi is free so makes for a good office away from the office.
5. Artwork and ambiance is pleasing.
6. Sunday afternoon and Thursday evening music groups.

Liabilities? Hard to find parking sometimes. Dean is keeping the cafe open but will be around less so that he can do more art. He says that the quality will remain the same.

With respect to the previous posts I feel that you are both right.

The ambience is excellent..it mixes a lounge area with tables and chairs as well as a stool and bar setup facing Lonsdale. Dean has done a lot with this space considering how recessed it is from the street.

Basically I go there for his sandwiches and soups. The food is high-quality and well-prepared. It's worth the slightly higher price.

As for coffee I have never liked the coffee there, finding it far to strong and bitter (including the lighter roasts). However the service is excellent and Citroen is a place worth checking out.

The Art makes the difference

The food is fresh and served with flair, the coffee tasty
The lemonade sold by Kyra excellent and
The artwork done in house by Dene Croft is well worth the price and just, well, makes the difference.
It is a 'happening' not just another coffee house
even the patterns in the coffee are unique
I use it as a place to meet clients coming over from Vancouver on the Seabus.

Cozy, Dean's lovely artworks are dotted around the place, making it feel very homely and relaxed, and the coffee is also fantastic.

The food is also different from your usual fare, and is prepared to a high standard and very tasty. I like this place a lot.

Attention to Coffee Details

Citroen, a new cafe on Lower Lonsdale, is a warm inviting room with a fireplace at one end and interesting original art on the walls. But it's really all about the coffee, and these guys are serious about their coffee. While I enjoyed my macchiato the barista politely inquired about my coffee habits and tastes and said they had tuned their espresso machine to match the expected neighborhood clientele. The macchiato itself was one of the best espresso drinks I've had in recent memory, strong but not too bitter or burnt tasting. The caramel coconut and brownie squares were also excellent. We'll be back for coffee and lunch. North shore coffee connoisseurs will want to check out Citroen.
