This is located inside the Lonsdale Quay. Visited during lunch and menu board has a lot of selections such as Burritos, Tacos, Tamales and platters. Also they have a small area to pick up some Mexican food goods including a fridge for prepared foods and sauces. Tried their taco platter. $9 for 3 tacos plus some beans and rice. The chicken tacos were a bit on the dry side as the taco had no condiments added. The chicken had little flavour. After adding some salsa, it was much better. The beef taco was a bit better but the meat was ground not shredded like the chicken. Beans and rice were good. Value was was average but the service was quick and friendly. It's a food court type of place so Ambiance would be average.

Overal, would try it again.

First, their salsas. Brilliant. The salsa verde especially, I did not realize my bottled salsa verde was such crap until I tasted Cilantro and Jalapeno’s fresh version. Will never be able to go back to mass-produced, and unfortunately now spoiled by them and forced to make a long drive to North Van just to pick up some salsa verde. Their regular tomato salsa is simple, fresh and delicious.

Also had their soup and tacos…soup was lovely, although I prefer it without the cream and parmesan cheese. A nice clear broth, lots of big chunks of chicken and while I’m not a big fan of rice in soup, it’s nice here and makes it feel like a hearty meal. Excellent price at about $3.50 for the small and less than $5 for a large.

Stayed away from their fish tacos because it is deepfried unfortunately…was hoping to make a comparison to La Taqueria. And just like at La Taqueria, their soft tacos are not steamed fresh, here they are pre-packaged and they also sell them in the store. I tried it with the chicken…which I found mediocre, and served with a sad-looking salad. Their rice is excellent, and bought a take-away pack, great to make healthy, quick meals at home. Overall, I think they have some good foods that are freshly prepared and tasty, other meals are not worth the price, so just like a lot of other places, figure out what they do best and stick to those foods.

I really like their staff, very sweet and good energy. One time I called at the end of the day to see if they had any salsas left, she said she could make it for me on the spot. It is basically a fast food counter with a fresh selection of ready-made foods. For me, it is worth the trip.

Having heard a lot about Cilantro & Jalapeno both for Mexican Groceries and a food counter I decided to try this out with my Oldest daughter one afternoon. Having shopped at the other Mexicans grocery eateries in Vancouver I thought this would be a nice change, since they also sold cooking supplies and had a eating counter or take out.

We opted for the Enchilada's, mine with Mole and my daughters with chili sauce. Well for the price I have to say the servings are very small and the food was pretty tasteless, I was very disappointed .
The other Mexican store competitors in Vancouver who have lunch and groceries are so authentically Mexican its almost as if you are actually in Mexico when you're there.

Maybe it was a bad day for them, I have no idea but I won't be returning soon, even the price of the cooking supplies were very over priced,,,

Check out the other Mexican Groceries in Vancouver and try them and you'll understand what I am saying, I guess I expected too much for a food court eatery.
