Boston Pizza offers a casual dining atmosphere with over 100 menu items including a selection of pizzas, pastas and a wide variety of appetizers, meal-sized salads, entrees and desserts. The restaurant also has plenty of big screen TVs to catch the big game.
I was in the area, haven't been to Boston Pizza for awhile, and decided to have my lunch.
I ordered an individual bbq pizza that had alot of flavour and filled me up. I like how it didn't take too long, and each bite had the right amount of chicken, mushrooms, with cheese. It wasn't greasy and my 7-up went well with my pizza. I did save room, tried their chocolate explosion, very tasty, took what I couldn't eat home, due to how rich this particular dessert and I was full.
I found the service was attentive, the place wasn't too busy and where I sat was a bit too dark. I thought it was a good spot to have lunch on a cold day.
I normally write one review for an entire chain but this one I've been frequenting and it's a bit better than the average Boston Pizza.
The service has been great, nothing to really complain about. The room also feels nicer and just seems to be a more happening place.
Unfortunately the food still blows chunks. They really need to fire their executive chef and work on the quality. My kid had a nacho fix so we chose to try the nachos here. First they are microwaved (ugh, this should be illegal). The salsa was disgusting, it had chili powder or something in it, first time I've ever not eaten salsa. And they put green peppers on their nachos to top it off, yuck. That's just an example of what's wrong with one menu item, many others suck just as bad. I would need another 10,000 words to rant about their crap food. There are a few edible things on the menu but you have to suffer through a lot to find them.
I was pleasantly surprised that my kid's meal was only $3, wasn't aware they had a special on Sunday's or something.
Anyway just wanted to say aside from the garbage food this place is actually nice. So if for some reason you like the food at BP, check this location out.
The pizzas are good - never once have I complained. Most other items on their menu have been delicious but I have learned that this is not the place to order pasta dishes. Every time I have ordered a pasta dish the pasta has always been mushy (sorry, but that's a pet peeve of mine - pasta should be el dente and not mushy).
I make it a point to come here with my kids when there's a hockey game on, especially if its on a Monday or Tuesday, when they do cheap wings or cheap pasta! The food here is great and the servers are always really fast and I've never seen them make a mistake with any of my kids orders, or miss out on serving them. Just a really fun place with good food, a good place to sit back and watch the game with the kids. My wife loves it cuz there's nothing to clean up and the size of the portions they serve usually means leftovers for us. Just a really fun place overall!
There was a time when I used to frequent Boston Pizza. The prices were always a little on the high side but I enjoyed the locations and the food was good. At one time they had a very good line up of different pasta dishes.
This is no longer the case and for the price I will not be going back. The pasta and the sauce taste like they came from a can. I am not sure how they went downhill so very quickly but I was disappointed to many times at Boston Pizza.
I have to say I disagree with Kujibo about the food. The only disappointment I've ever experienced is if the Cactus Cut Potatoes are underdone. I ask for them "well done" or crisp now & it's not been an issue. I love the pizzas, especially the Rustic Italian. Substitute sun-dried for the fresh tomatoes & it's even better. I can't say I've ever ordered a pasta dish, so I can't comment there, but all the appies, pizzas & ribs have all been great.
The staff, Cassie & Rachel are 2 that come to mind, are great. Very patient when the little ones are there and always friendly & attentive.
I ordered "homestyle "lasagna which was the furthest thing from homemade! The noodles were gummy the sauce was not very good. I could barely eat it. When I mentioned how bad it was I was first told I still needed to pay for it,then was told I could actually get a replacement dinner.I was then brought something just as bad tasting. I tried their alfredo sauce,it was not very good either, the pasta was again gummy tastying and the sauce had no flavour.
I would hesitate to go to this restaurant again.
Ordered a meat pizza, greasy, weird after taste. The pizza dough is bland and oily and the sauce is flavorless.
Ordered a thin crust Baja Thin Crust was like eating cardboard. There was no cilantro, there was way way way too much corn, it had no sauce at all. My daughter and I tried it and actually threw it away. And we never waste food. The crust seemed like it had been deep fried and then topped it was so greasy.
My stomach is hurting just sitting here writing this.
We were very disappointed and will definitely not be going back there. I called the manager and calmly told him our experience and explained I wanted no refund or gift cert. I just wanted him to speak to his chef and let him know that we were throwing food out. Actually it isn't food and I am not sure what it is.
We will never go back and will let others know. Boston Pizza used to have good food and it was tasty. If this is the standard of food now. Wow. They need to figure this out.
Too bad because all the big screens playing the game etc. It could have been fun, and it was early, but the place was empty.
We did eat our pizza's at home and did reheat them a bit, hoping to help the flavor. Nope.
I used to go there with friends back in the 90s for really great appies n stuff. it started going downhill when they introduced the pasta dishes - no zest, no salt, no spice ...might as well be serving it in a hospital for people that need to watch their sodium intake.
I went there a couple of weeks ago - I see they now offer jumbalaya like other restaurants, so I tried that. mehh... I found myself 'wanting' to like it because I used to get the appies there 10 years ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to a happy level and enjoy the meal. It's overpriced and the food really has gone down. Time to focus on what they're good at - appies n pizza and stop trying to be another earl's or cactus club.
Last time I was there was for the Canuck game 7 with Chicago and i swear that this is the best ambience you'll find outside rogers arena, the place was packed, all servers were in canucks jersey and everyone seem to be enjoying. we had a a double wings sesame ginger flavoured, it was good. also one thing i would like to say that the restaurant looks 100% better after the renovations. The emotions for the game were so strong that after overtime goal, all the tables and servers started high fiving and i loved it.
i will surely visit this place again with my friends.
Our server was nice but dropped some salsa on our laps and the accompanying taco salad left much to be desired. The salad was simple and bland, eventhough it came with guacamole and cost us upwards of 14 smackers.
I did have the classic canadian pizza, and it actually wasn't half bad, but was very cheesy, greasy and meaty. Since we're not boozers either, we weren't able to drown out the greasiness with beer, so water became my best friend.
I would say this place is okay, but the menu items are over-priced now and the quality has diminished somewhat. The only reason we stopped by here was because of those Howie Mandel commercials and because it was on the way home late at night.
Sorry, but this place is harmful to your wallet and your health.
My family and I visit Boston Pizza's North Vancouver location often. Everytime we go, we end up leaving happy, sometimes extra happy! The food is usually pretty good, especially the Chicken and Mushroom Linguinni. They have a great selection of specialty drinks (for the kiddies too), all reasonably priced.
The service is always fantastic, Johnny in particular. He has been serving our family for a few years now and everytime we go, he makes us feel right at home, and generally knows exactly what we want before we even sit down! If you go for the first time, ask for Johnny! You won't be disappointed! Generally, all the servers there really make sure that the customer comes first.
Another great thing about this location is the hockey game atmosphere. They have TVs everywhere, and always have the volume on. They also have some good beer specials during Canucks games.
If you're in the North Shore area, definetly check out Boston Pizza in North Vancouver.
