The Arms Reach Bistro, established in 2004, in the heart of Deep Cove, offers a tasteful west coast style cuisine with a unique flare. Open at 11am seven days a week, we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Come down and join us, relax and relish in the spectacular waterfront view.
I recently ate at this restaurant. It was around 2 pm on a weekday afternoon. My wife and I were seated in the middle of the dining area and despite being in plain view were not approached by a waiter for over 10 minutes (I had checked my email after we had been there). While we were waiting a couple that came in after us and were seated right next to us were waited upon and the table next to them saw no less than 3 waiters approach them. When a waiter did arrive she stated that she had been 'busy in back with a table doing wine tastings'. However the modest crowd and number of staff I couldn't help feeling this was incredibly incompetent service or shake that impression that this was a subtle form of discrimination native indians sometimes encounter in small towns. Too bad...
This is one of the coolest restaurants in North Vancouver. The patio under the big umbrellas is fantastic -- even when the weather is questionable (they give you blankets). Although a bit pricey, it's a great restaurant to bring people to when they are visiting from out of town. The combination of a quality restaurant and Deep Cove turn the spot into one that everyone should visit at least once. It's kinda like that lays chip commercial, "I dare you to visit just once."
Went back to Arms Reach again this year during our annual summer vacation in Vancouver. The food quality hasn't changed. The beef dip was way better than any other ones we've tried. Definitely will come back again. We love this restaurant, the setting, the view, the service, the food. Everything's just wonderful!
We love the Bistro. The food is fantastic, close to 5 star cuisine. It's pricey for a little hole in the wall, but always a great experience. Staff is freindly and very casual but provide decent prompt service. Great wine list with plenty of price variety. There was some live music the night we went, it was a bit much for the samll place, but enjoyable. You kind of feel like you are somewhere else besides North Van when your're there, good portions, very fresh ingredients, no complaints
Second visit to the Arms Reach and let me start off by saying the food and drinks were fabulous. Took a while to get to us, but well worth the wait. I had the Angry Chicken and my husband had the Veal. Both fantastic. Although in beautiful Deep Cove with gorgeous views, the interior of the restaurant was lacking. We were seating at a dining table by a couple of couches, where a mom and her toddler were seated. Apparently so the toddler could bounce off the couches and walls. Always fun. =P Our chairs were falling apart underneath us, they were so old, and there were flies buzzing around us the entire time. The place should consider some fly tape or something. None the less, we had a real good time there.
My husband and I went to Arms Reach with another couple. It was a typical cold and soaking wet evening in Vancouver, so I was pleased to see they had cozy blankets available at the entrance and every table. We were seated promptly and our waitress was very friendly and helpful without being too "in-your-face." The food was delicious -- the AAA steak was the best I had ever seen. Creme brulee was delicious as well. Cozy, friendly atmosphere that still provides a "fine dining" feel. Excellent!
After eating at Arms Reach, i can tell the difference between what looks good, and what tastes good. Arms Reach has one of the best locations in the city, there can be on question. The quality of food and service on the other hand is a different matter. Simply watching the food network will teach you the value of fresh food, but Arms Reach hasn't gotten the message. My food was cold, had clearly been sitting around for a while, re-heated once or twice, and then served right back to me. the service was poor, with waitstaff more interested in talking with each other and their friends at the bar than in serving paying customers.
Next time i want to eat in Deep Cove, I'll pack a picnic, because Arms Reach isn't worth it.
Arm's Reach is a beautiful spot for a date but its casual enough for the whole family. I love the menu because there is something for everyone and every price range. The wine list is awesome too...Definately worth the trip to the Cove!
I love this cozy bistro in all seasons. In the summer the patio is a great place to people watch and sip delicious margaritas with real fruit. In the winter a lazy Sunday morning is best spent enjoying the view of deep Cove while savouring the absolutely delicious "Timo's Benny" with wonderful smoked wild salmon. I've tried most of the menu, and the Angry Roasted Chicken is my favourite. The Juicy, spicy, vibrant tasting chicken with seasonal roasted vegetables will satisfy a large appetite. Go for a walk around the Cove after dinner to complete a great experience.
My second visit to Arms was not us good us my first. Server make us to drink wrong wine’s ,we order glace of viogner for me and glace resling for her but she switch on us .I had the sweet resling and she had my viogner ,food was simple . Room is cold and dusty and servers need to be well train.
I came to the Arms Reach with a date for dine out ’08. Both our meals were delicious and I was especially impressed with the shrimp cake paired with the Sumac Ridge ‘Black Sage’ VQA Sauvignon Blanc. The service was good, the atmosphere cozy and friendly. It’s definitely a place I’d come back to.
