It's been ages since we've had a good donair. I remember reading on DineHere that Aria served great pizza but also had donairs and the owner was Greek. We've never tried either at Aria's and we were on our way home from Whistler so we thought we'd stop and pick up a couple to take home.
First thing I noticed when I walked in was a petition complaining about Aria's being kicked out at the end of August by the landlord to make room for a Fresh Slice. The obviously upset owner still eagerly filled our order while asking for our support. Of course....we need fewer chains and more owner operator stores to keep our takeout diversity.
We ordered two lamb donairs with everything (didn't know you could do that) and rushed them home for eating. Lamb in the donair was tasty, hot off the rotisserie and the pita was tender. The pita was also filled with lettuce and tsatziki which is more a gyro than a donair (we were expecting just onions and tomatoes). Tasted fine but the lettuce makes for a wet drippy wrap and it wasn't what we really wanted. Anyway....it's still been ages since we;ve had a good donair.
The other day I came across Aria review from chasiubow, knowing we have similiar taste, I had to check it out the next time I was at Westview area.
I was hungry after my workout, remembering the review, went to Aria and ordered a small chicken with Mushroom pizza and Coca cola. I was greeted by a male first, who was somewhat friendly, and the lady server took over with her friendly personality. The place isn't large, few tables to eat in, and ate my pizza inside.
The very first bite, my pizza had tons of flavour, lots of chicken, mushroom and cheese with this great tasting crust. I couldn't believe how good the pizza tasted, filling me up by the third slice...I have more for later..Yeah!!! I did find the price a bit higher for a small pizza, but the quality is definately worth the price.
Great review from one of the regulars and I will be back soon.
Being from the east coast of the US, I have had a miserable time of it finding decent pizza in Vancouver. I have found it as close by as Bellingham, but Vancouver seems almost allergic to the concept. I was pleasantly surprised with Aria. It's still nothing near the size of what I would consider a decent pizza, and it ain't cheap, but it is very, very tasty. I have ordered from here a few times, and have no complaints. The phone service was friendly, and the order accurate and prompt. Getting the calzones seems to be a better deal than pizza, but both were yummy.
i love there pizza and donair. nice peope, nice customer service. :)

Mrs. C and I were craving some food to enjoy in front of the TV and we decided to give this place a try. It is in the Westview Mall on the same side as the gas station and sushi place. The interior had plenty of signage, and it was very clean. The service was quite good, and the staff was extremely friendly. I really felt like they valued my business.
There was a huge selection of pizzas, calzones, donairs, ribs, lasagna and some middle eastern dishes. I went with a large pizza and some honey garlic wings. It was a little pricier than I expected, but this is North Van.
The pizza turned out to be on a whole wheat crust which was an unexpected bonus. It was very flavorful, and the crust had an excellent texture. The toppings were also terrific, and I liked the fact that they put a vast amount of cheese on the pizza. The wings were big and juicy, and well prepared. They came with a side of dipping sauce, but it was really unnecessary. They tasted great.
All in all it was way better than expected, and I plan a return visit soon.
Recommended.
We have lived on the shore for just over 8 years now. We love pizza and have sampled from many. This is the place we call. The price / quality combination here cannot be beat. In fact, in terms of quality - I'm not sure there are even equals. DJJs is not bad, but not quite. Veneto on Lonsdale is probably in the same ballpark, but it takes those guys an hour to produce what Aria does in 20 minutes. Rebellious Tomato, Panago, Bella, Hell, DDDN need not apply.
After reading the reviews (and only living 5 mins away) me and the wife decided to give this place a whirl.
All I can say is the reviews were spot on. This place is a real surprise, with well flavored and well cooked food. My wife and I had the lamb kebab and pizza. The pizza was a real surprise, better than many gourmet pizzas. The owners obviously care about what they produce and it shows. If your in the neighborhood, you could do a lot worse.
It was not clear from the reviews, or from their website, but they do deliver and if you happen to be searching for an exceptional pizza in North Van to order out, then you may need to look no further. It was better than good with lots of cheese and delivery was fast and very courteous. Great pizza reasonably priced with good delivery says it all! Be sure to tip well....Enjoy!!
