what i love about Andrea's pizza is their house special

Andrea's house special pizza is what i go the distance for as i live in the tri ciies and would go to north vancouver just for the house special pizza. love it love it love it. The first time i found out about Andrea's pizza is and tried the house special, it was by far the best pizza i have eaten. when i used to live nearby to andrea's restaurant, i would get my favorite pizza at andreas to soothe my hunger pains. the house special pizza fills you up. Even though you may get full, since the pizza is so yummy, you can't help force yourself to eat more. but if i can't, i save it for later which the pizza is still good even if the pizza gets cold.

Best Tzatziki and Pita Ever!!!

I go to this restaurant just for this appy... I really like the baked lasagna, good sauce, lots of cheese, the garlic bread is phenomenal. Salmon dinner special is sooooo good! Souvlaki dinners are my favorite, and the pizza, well the pizza is MMMMMMMMMmmmmm MMMMmmmm GOOD! The cleanliness of the restaurant is actually really gross though, most may not notice, but I had 2 year old checking EVERYTHING out and found some really yucky stuff : P, so take home is kinda a better choice, but they are renovating so hopefully that will change. Reliably excellent food, for great prices!

Bonus: they have drink specials, it's a nice treat for people who aren't too picky : )

Only the House Pizza is worth ordering

My husband and I would order the House Special pizza from Andreas and were never disappointed... from the crust to the cheesy topping, we gobbled up our order quite satiated by both the quality and price.

What I found unbearable, however, as the blandness of all the other entrees, including the garlic bread. The service at Andrea's is also way below par, mostly because the servers are busy fighting with the owners. One night, while we were there, there was a very loud argument between one server and the owner's wife... the owner's wife was accusing the waitress for having failed to place a take out order on the spinner ...the waitress had NOT written down the order, she insisted, and wasn't responsible for the order...

This argument ended when the waitress, who was holding our entrees in her hands, threatened to drop the meals and walk out. It was a very busy Saturday night. Needless to say, the owner's wife backed down.

We at our meals and quickly left, never to return. The stress was too much.

i have been to Andreas several times and i have walked out happy and full everytime. All the place needs to do is have a staff change over and update the decor a bit. The service which has been lacking the past few times has improved quite a bit. I have ordered delivery many times which usually is pretty good but just order a little earlier than usual because they take a while.

It shouldn't matter what else the servers have to do besides wait on those that are physically in the restaurant. In house customers shouldn't have to sit there and wait for service for 30 - 40 minutes. If the job is too tough, than maybe they should hire others to specifically answer the phones and greet & sit the customers so those others can get service. When calling in to order for delivery, some of those, especially the men, are very rude and I just feel like telling them "Don't even bother answering the phone to take orders" It just pi*$#@ me off. Those that work there should have a chat with the owners and your bosses to improve on all the comments made. I will never eat in or order take out again, because of the service you receive from the people that work there. You may have lost out on alot of others that have been on the receiving end of this kind of service.

Not going back there anymore

Living in North Vancouver, I've gone to this restaurant a number of times. This review although reflects my overall idea about the place, is more the result of my very bad latest experience.

The food quality is not consistent and ranges from poor to solid. The ambiance could have been better, if the servers' appearance was better and they chose a better local FM station to play the music, but that's the matter of taste.

What really is bad in this restaurant, is the service. Often times you have to wait a long time (sometimes up to 30 minutes or more) for your orders to be taken, even when it's not busy. Don't be surprised if the servers are not nice to you and show bad attitudes. Bringing the bill takes a long time too and they don't appreciate it if you ask for the bills to be separated out. Asking for change back means another long wait and having to put up with the servers attitude...

I enjoyed my experience!

Went to Andreas and ordered only appetizers for myself and my fiance ordered pizza. I enjoyed all the appy's as they were hot and fresh. My fiance enjoyed his pizza to my knowledge as well.
The service was just great as far as I am concerned. I don't really like being bothered constantly while I'm eating so I really liked the fact that the young man that served us left us alone the majority of the time however, when I did need something I would just give him a quick smile and he was quick to scoot over and see what it was that we needed.
The ambiance though could use a face lift...this was the only thing that made me wonder...The prices were reasonable especially for what we had ordered.
Anyways, the food was delicious, the price was reasonable and the service was great so all in all I enjoyed the restaurant.

Wow...you really gotta ask for your pizzas to be "well-done" otherwise the crust bottom is like a greasy napkin. The price isn't bad i guess, but it sometimes takes a while for your order to arrive, the delivery drivers always act so stunned, and the girl at reception who takes the delivery calls (we all know the one) is really snotty. "The Zit on the Face of the North Shore" was a perfect description from a previous review.

First off, I need to qualify the 2 stars for food and service -- the review guide tags 2 stars as "decent". Neither the food nor service could be considered decent, but they don't quite deserve the lowest rating.

The reality is that sometimes the food and service are good, usually they are poor. For example, I go there alone, order pizza, and quite often when I get it, it's cold. How can that happen? When it's done, what are they waiting for? Just bring me the damn thing. On those occasions when it comes hot, you never know if it's Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde who's running the kitchen.

The service is another common problem. Because of the way the restaurant is partitioned, I think they "lose" customers very easily. There have been times when I've gone 15 or 20 minutes without seeing an employee. They're very slow to get you the bill when you're done.

The "poor" rating for value is a function not so much of the cost of the food but of the time you're going to spend trying to get out of there and, on occasion, the time you're going to spend going somewhere else to get a meal you can actually eat.

I know of no restaurant in the Lower Mainland that is more desperately in need of a visit from Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Lot of potential there, and it was once a great place to eat, but those days are long gone.

Hit and Miss

When dining in you are almost guaranteed to have a somewhat decent experience. Most people know Andreas for their pizza, and when they do it right it is excellent. Unfortunately it seems they are extremely hit and miss.

The delivery can take a long time, even on typically slow evenings. Pizzas have arrived cold, soggy and undesirable. When pointing this out to the folks running the place they seem dismissive.

My overall impression is that Andreas reaches out to people looking for cheap pizza and they are volume sellers. If you want consistent quality, I would suggest you go elsewhere.

I've been ordering take-out from Andreas for quite a few years (never dined in). The service on the phone has never been very friendly, but the food is always decent, and you do get a generous portion for the price!

The pizza & lasagna are especially good, but the quality of the souvlaki meat seems to be dropping lately (kind of gristly).

They aren't the fastest delivery, but they seem to be consistent, and the drivers are always good.

i've been going to andreas for many,many years and every time i get their usual crappy and grumpy service i vow to never,ever to come back again.some say their pizza is great.it is if you order at the restaurant.but if you order their pizza for delivery the grease literally soaks through the pizza box.having said that,they have two things going for them.one they deliver early and they deliver late.two,you get a lot of decent food for a good price,as long as you don't order from their "breakfast" menu which is pretty awful.just don't order when there's a hockey game on or you'll be waiting awhile,but that goes for any delivery place.

I had ordered Lasanga and meat balls
Lasanga arrived after a very long wait no meat balls , I waited for the sever to come by but the seam to avoid you once your meal has been served . Finally she came by on her way to another new customer and i told her about no meat balls. She just looked and left after i was al most finnished she came by with 2 meat balls in a bowl no sauce. I asked to have the rest of my meal to go , when i got home i opened it to find i had someones left over speg, I will never go back very grumpy severs and cashier.

Another longtime North Shore resident says NO MORE

I have been going to Andreas for almost 25 years. At first the service and the food was great. Over the years, I have seen the service deteriotate and the price rise. I have dealt with my share of rude service staff and I have had finally had enough. On numerous occasions I waited more than two hours for food both in the restaurant and for delivery. I made an order for delivery tonight and it's almost an hour and a half late. I called and complained and the person on the other end of the phone hung up on me. The terrible service and rude staff definitely out way the quality of the food. My advice is to go somewhere else.

My family and I have been going to Andreas for over 25 years, since we moved to the North Shore. In the past few years, it has definitely gone downhill.

Their worst aspect is their service. The servers are overworked and therefore you receive very little individual attention. The owner is distant and comes across as being rude, although if you are simply chatting she can be quite friendly. In the many times I have been there, I have been treated very well and others times ignored for ages.

I went there for a birthday dinner a year or so ago and it took quite a while for the food to come. When it did, it was amazing, as usual. My friends and I enjoyed our dinner immensely but we had to wait a good 30 mins for our bill to arrive. When it did, our breathless server came rushing past our table, slammed down the bill and flew into the kitchen without even meeting our eyes. While looking at the bill, I realized they had charged us for the birthday desert. I complained and it was quickly dealt with.

They have recently finished some much needed renovations.

Overall, they have the best pizza on the North Shore. It's loaded with toppings and I've never had a soggy pizza there, though others have complained about that. I enjoy their lasagna, spaghetti, and other pasta dishes as well. I find them full of flavour. The servings are generous and well priced. The only downfall is their terrible service.

Andreas is a very good restaurant, if you are willing to wait and possibly put up with a crabby server.

We have lived on the North Shore for 45 plus years and have over the years gone to Andreas many times for a reasonably priced steak or pasta dinner. I used to comment on how good their steaks were. We have noticed that the service has been going downhill. On our last visit this Summer I ordered their best steak and my wife ordered the lasagna. Both arrived after a long wait cold.My steak was also tough.We tried to speak to our waiter but he and the owner were busy cleaning up after a large private party. From the conversation it was obviously family or friends of the owner. We received no garlic toast or condiments with our meal and had to ask another waitress for them, and for water. They all arrived after we had finished our meal and the toast was cold.The waiter was too busy helping the manager. He literally had no time for us.We complained to the manager and they did not give a damn. We will never eat there again.

I read alot of complaints here about Andreas. I don't think their unfounded, but these people walked into this situation themselves. Andreas is a place where you get a pizza from. You either get them to deliver it or pick it up. You nornally wouldn't sit down there to eat. Andreas pizza is bigger than rebelious tomato and has alot of cheese.
If the power goes out call them and they can help you. If you need a big meal before school or work then their pizza will get you going for a good while. If it's after 12am then theirs not much open in North Van. There's fast food but you probably have to drive there and it tastes bad . I like the vegetarian pizza. Subways open to but for the same money they might leave you hungry.

I have not been to Andreas for some time till recently. My Youngest Son and eldest Daughter and self went for Dinner. My Daughter ( A Vegetarian ) ordered a meatless pasta dish which tasted like cinnamon) know why would a pasta dish taste like that??? my Son ordered chicken tenders and fries ( I tried one and it was like eating rubber, clearly deep fried pre-frozen ) I ordered Chicken Sovlaki ( chicken over cooked and rice served on the side was soggy and over cooked and undercooked and hard at the same time, potatoes where only half cooked and bland) Our waitress was rarely around to help us, we where forced to ask other servers for water refills. After our not so good meals our waitress simply smacked our bill on the table and walked off. I put out my credit card but waited over 15 mins for her to return so we left cash that my daughter had. I have no idea as to how this place is still around, friends and family of mine have also had equal to worse experiences there as well and have said they to will not return. My husband calls it a Zit on North Van's face, and needs to be popped, I agree.

Having just read the review from moyes, we as well ordered pizza to be delivered from Andreas. Thinking we would get the second large for 10.99 we were billed for full amount of both pizzas. I called and the girl answering the phone, was rude and told me that was for Langley only. I replied it does not say that on the flyer, she said that does not matter, it is what it is and will not give me the credit. I will not order from this restaurant again, the customer obviously does not matter with this restaurant

Our family order two large pizzas for home delivery.from a recent delivered flyer. We order from their special pizza area that is highlighted in red "get a second for only 10.99. No problem, I ordered and told the girl we would order the second for the special offered,"no problem. Gave my CC number, order delivered, and was charged full price. I phoned and was told that was for Langley residents only. I replied it does not say that. To make a long story short I was basically told too bad. If I want I could call the manager later that evening, John. He told me would give me a credit but would never allow me to order or come into his restaurant again. Great customer service. I was shocked, angry and amazed. Anyway I was so angry, and restaurnants like these are a dime a dozen
