Came for burgers with a friend Oct. 26/10. Only one other table at 5:00 pm but the place filled up by the time we were leaving. We both ordered the #5 BBQ burger with cheese, bacon and mushrooms. The mushrooms actually couldn't have been sliced any thinner...almost see through. The burger was flavourful and quite messy so use your extra napkins. One of us had the wedge fries and the other the onion rings so we could share them. I was disappointed in the onion rings as they were too oily, no onion flavour and they were thinly battered instead of breaded. They almost seemed like they were commercial frozen ones. The wedge fries weren't very plentiful, but they were fine. These burgers were 13.50. I would return again in the future and perhaps try something new. Pir male server was pleasamt. I felt there could be a good cleaning and a general tossing out of the dozens of hanging plant baskets over your head...kind of weird that.
I attended a work function at Stefanos and was blown away. They are starting to put up their famous Christmas decorations and the place looks amazing. I have never seen it when its fully decked out but I read the article from the Vancouver Sun covering Stefanos and it looks so beautiful.
The service was friendly and surprisingly efficient - given how packed the place was. The roast lamb was to die for and I only heard positive comments from my co-workers on their respective meals. The band was super - and it struck me how few places have dine and dance these days. It was so much fun!!!
The prices were beyond reasonable given how huge the servings were. I highly recommend that everyone check it out for themselves - particularly to see the beautiful decore - it is not to be missed. If you love Christmas - you will LOVE it! It is the perfect place to host a party.
My husband and i come here quite often, we are a regular, until their service went down hill. Recently i got a back injury so when i went to Shang Noodle House i ask them if i can sit at the booth area as it has more of a support to my back and more comfortable seating rather than sitting in those hard wooden chairs. The server that greeted me said NO! I was surprise as in the restaurant there was only 1 other table eating. I was not impress and said why not, she said to me the booths are for seating of 4 people. I told her it's not comfortable to sit in the wooden chairs with no cushion whatsoever on your bum and the back and the wooden chair seating is also for 4 people as there are 4 chairs per table! She pretty much ignore me and just left the menus at this table with the wooden chairs. So instead of walking to that table, i still went to sit at the booth. She saw me and then started to gossip and tell all her fellow waitresses as it was pretty obvious she was talking about me, since they all were giving me and my husband dirty looks and whispering. So finally that waitress approach me with a fake smile asking me if i was ready to order. I told her i want to speak to her manager. She has the nerve to send another SO CALL JOE WAITRESS to tell me she's the manager. I told her no i want to speak to a manager. So then finally one of the waitresses went to grab the manager. This restaurant is link to Kirin next door, so they grab one of the supervisors next door to talk to me. When i talk to the supervisor he agree with me that customers are allow to sit anywhere they want especially when the restaurant is empty and their seatings are ALL 4 per seat!. But pretty he was useless too, cuz he wasn't the owner nor the manager, so after the supervisor apoligize, i decide to leave.
Restaurants like this should hire better servers and not have them make a bad impression on the restaurant.
If you like good Thai food, you're hard pressed to find it in New West. Pattaya is OK,...portions are small. Go Thai is messy, portions are small, and they use too much sauce! But flavour is OK. That's about it, all just OK. Great Thai food is downtown, unfortunately...or Chili House in Chilliwack. Or Seattle. Sorry.
OK. I love Chinese food. I have had a LOT of Chinese food. This was by far the most disgusting place I have ever ordered from, and I'm not talking I only eat chicken feet and 'authentic' dishes...I like some almond chicken and deep fried prawns once in awhile, as long as it's GOOD. This place had the WORST chow mein, that was so minimally 'cooked' it still smelled like the plastic bag the noodles had been taken out of. The sweet and sour pork that my husband usually loves from (Lee Yuen, Surrey), was laden with thick goopy disgusting sauce that had tiny minefields of 'meat' filled with gristle...ABSOLUTELY Repulsive! DO NOT eat here. Do not waste your money, go and get a burger from Wendy's. OR go get some GOOD Chinese food, from Flamingo House on Cambie, or Lee Yuen in Surrey. GROSS. Threw everything out. GARBAGE.
Went for brunch on a nice sunny Sunday. The place is cute and done up in blue and white. The service started out good, but quickly went to poor. We waited for an hour for our food and coffee refills were hard to come by.
The food was really good, but I guess I will try and come here when it first opens so that I'm not starving by the time I get my food.
We went for a nice walk on the Quay boardwalk afterwards, this restuarant is in a great location.
This is one of our favourite spots in New West. They have live music at night and the food is great. Servers are friendly and attentive. The menu features a Cajun influence with Jambalaya and several shrimp dishes. Steaks are also a hit. They have sandwiches and burgers too.
It is a small venue and the music is loud so you aren't going to be able to chat over it. Best to go as a couple with the intent of listening to the music while you dine. Prices are in line with other dinner restaurants.
Tried this place out one morning and while it doesn't look much from the out side, the welcome you get when you walk in the door is warm and friendly.
Love the food and Angelina remembers the people that come through her door" do you want decaf this time?" as i have often just come off night duty.
My husband and I love this place and is just a walk down the quay from where we live.
The photos on the walls are all local scenes taken by Angelinas husband and are great.
Warm, friendly and a great breakfast, then a walk along the quay beside the Fraser River, what a way to start the day.
Found this place when looking for a place to live in New West.
Great burgers, I tend to swing between the lamb burger and the meatless burger.
The service depends on who is there, some of the waitresses clearly have no idea that to get the tips they need to at least give the impression of being nice to the clients, the waiter there is FANTASTIC and has a great way with the customers, once you have been there twice then you are regular and get a special brand of avuse from this guy, he really is very good and enjoys serving the customers.
Took my family here for dinner; in retrospect, not a good idea. The pizza (a Boston Royale) was bland with hardly any cheese and raw green peppers. The bread twists were nothing special. Service was prompt and efficient, but I'll likely never eat at a Boston Pizza again. There's much better pizza out there at comparable prices.
This is a small local Sushi Place. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. When we were there however across from us was Ms. Obnoxious. Barking at the staff " will someone take our order "when are we going to be served?" Where's our food? etc. Look around when you come in - there is one person waiting on tables -- if you want fast service go somewhere else.
This is a mom and pop restaurant supported by the locals who dine there regularly. Don't be in a hurry -- read the paper and relax. Have a Japanese beer. When the food comes you will enjoy it. Try the shrimp tempura.
The food is fresh and tasty. The restaurant is clean and the booths are cute and cosy.
I just had to write in and rave about the time I had last weekend at Stefanos - the best Greek restaurant in New West - and maybe even the Greater Vancouver area.
We were a group of almost 50 - and we were given two large tables beside each other - with a view of the band. The band was awesome! They covered everything from Santana to Kings of Leon and we all danced... haven't had that much fun since my daughter's wedding.
The food was delicious, plentiful - and arrived quickly considering how packed the place was. Our server was professional and prompt - with a great sense of humour. Appies were platters for four and contained a very nice variety of greek starters.... Yum! Dinners were a choice of the best options from the menu - and were huge! Our server ended up packaging leftovers for most of our party!
A complementary slice of cake with a candle surprised the birthday boy - and the band even sang happy birthday. Quite the attention to detail - and a special moment for our guest of honour!
I dine out a lot - for business and pleasure - and have to say - for a good time, with great food, excellent service and a band.... you can't beat Stefanos!
During the work week this is where I go for the best soup and sandwiches in town. When you think of the soup Nazi think of Greens and Beans. The staff love to raz the customers and it really is a very interactive experience. Everything is amazing. The bread is made fresh daily and all the veggies are super fresh as well. The soup is all homemade and changes daily. I always take out and even when it is packed you get through very quickly. This place has a ton of regulars and once you have had it you will know why. Do yourself a favour and try the Thai Chicken Wicked soup! TO DIE FOR! Tell them that Erin sent ya!
I've eaten here a few times. Most of the time it's pretty good. The sushi is good, well made, tastes good. Although nigiri sushi should traditionally have wasabi in between the fish and rice. My only compliant would be the tempura prawns were not deveined. That's kinda gross. The service is kinda laid back, i wouldn't say it's bad, but they seem like they are very laid back, no care goes into what they do. It's just another job. This restaurant is nearby so that's probably the only reason i go there, there are plenty of sushi places around.
Lots of MSG used which triggers migraines and headaches. If that is not a concern for you then the food is good and there is a large selection. Portions are large. The small Pho would be a large one elsewhere.
Tempura was fried very crispy, but we enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable. They also do breakfast all day, so I would go back and try breakfast. The SPCA thrift store is next door, so you could have breakfast and then hunt for treasures.
Service was friendly and quick. Ambiance is Asian diner and is bright clean and comfortable. They have free papers you can read if you're eating alone. There seem to be many people who have made it their breakfast, or lunch spot. Relax with the paper and have breakfast.
I eat here all the time. The sashimi and sushi are so delicious and fresh.
The staffs are very friendly and the service is fast and excellent. All of dishes arrive in a timely manner.
Try their tsunami roll and UDON soup. The Best!! You will love it!!!
I always recomment this restaurant to people. My Favorite Sushi Place!!!!
Maybe you should just go for Tea. We went for Chinese food and it was disappointing. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but it is actually quite big in the back. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, but no real ambiance.
The food is OK, and you get large portions, but it all seems to have been made well ahead and then reheated. Sauces become glutinous. We had the sweet and sour chicken and the beef in black bean sauce. Lots for two and leftovers to take home, but unremarkable taste.
Service is practically non-existent. The owner was watching TV and we would call him over when we were ready to order, needed anything, ready to pay etc. He was very pleasant and we certainly weren't rushed, but it's not the best way to run a restaurant. Prices are reasonable.
I'd go again, but not for dinner. Tea with a friend and a snack might be better.
I come here very frequently. They are all always very friendly (family run business) and the food is great!
The prices are very fair, the service is quick, and the place definitely gets pretty packed at lunchtime.
I very much enjoy their Chicken Tikka Masala, as well as their variation of Butter Chicken and Chicken Curry.
The Naan bread is always very fresh - and their Naan wraps are mouth-watering!
I haven't tried all the items on the menu, and I can't really speak as to the authenticity, but I love this place!
Probably the best value is their Tiffin Combo Bites - at $7.99 with 1 Meat and 1 Veggie curry (or additional $1.49 for 2 meat curries) Which comes also with basmati rice and naan.
Every time I tell my coworkers that I am going to pick up a take out order here, they always want to add an order as well.
Fantastic place, I would highly recommend to anyone!
We went out with a group for a 40th birthday party. The food was ok, nothing special. Not a lot of good comments from the rest of the group. Unfortunately they put us on a fixed, and very limited menu, and when I requested appetizers in lieu of a dinner, I was told that would be fine but we would be charged a minimum of $20.00 each for our meal. I said that it was fine as my 2 appetizers would total more than $20.00. Well when I looked at my bill (unfortunately once I was already home) I noticed she charged me for my 2 appys as well as a $20.00 meal!!!! So I ended up paying $40.00 for two appys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Are you freaking kidding me! This place is rediculous. And the service didn't matter as they automatically charged the 15% tip in the total of the bill!
This pub used to scream scuzzy and I wouldn't go anywhere near it. Then I saw that they were renovating it. hmm...maybe it's time to try it out.
So my b/f and I went there for dinner one night. The place looks amazing! A huge fireplace, a great bar, and railway ties which was a nice touch.
There was also live music that night, a girl playing an acoustic guitar. Very nice.
Service was a little hit and miss, we had to wait quite a while for our bill, but our server was very nice.
Food was really good. The menu is still quite limited, but there's the standard pub fare on it. I had a burger and fries and my b/f had the fish and chips. The fish and chips were done in a Rickard's White batter, I had a taste and that's what I'll be ordering next time. It was so big that he couldn't finish the whole thing. My burger was very tasty and the fries were crisp and yummy.
Next time we're in that part of town we'll head on over.
