Sushi Koharu offers a menu of Japanese cuisine.
It is the best Japanese food I ever had in town! I have to say I really like sushi cuz its fresh and very healthy compare to high calorie meals. The food in Sushi Koharu is very fresh and tasty. The price is cheap for that good quality food and compare to loads expensive Japanese restaurants, I definitely recommend this one. The owner is a very lovely and friendly Asian woman. I believe she is also the mean cook!
I already submitted a review of this restaurant and wrote nothing but the truth...that I did not enjoy the food, that the food tasted old. That is all I wrote! Oh and that I will never be returning to this place ever again....and someone reported my review?? Was it the restaurant owner? I have the right to post my experience at this restaurant.
This is the best Sushi restaurant I have come across yet. Whenever we have a family celebration we always order from here. The cost is very reasonable and you always receive the best quality sushi. Everyone in my family loves the sushi from this restaurant. We have tried many other sushi restaurants in the local area and even around greater Vancouver but the sushi from Sushi Koharu is always the best - consistently.
We always order the party trays with lots of variety and the miso soup is great too. I've done both dine in and take out from this restaurant. The staff are kind and very friendly. The restaurant is very welcoming, clean, visually attractive and the neighbourhood is also peaceful - like a small community village atmosphere.
This is the best sushi restaurant ever!
I went to Koharu Sushi for dinner. I ordered a Chicken Teriaki box which came with tempura, a salad, rice, and misu soup. Before my box came, I decided to try the prawn gyoza as well. I ate the whole box, the chicken wasn't that great (it seemed boiled) and everything was luke-warm, if that. But I was hungry, so I ate it anyways. My gyoza then came and I took 1 bite. Although it was a little warmer than my other food it was still too gooey and tasted undercooked to me. If I had known this is the way they serve it, I just would have asked for it to be cooked more. I was disapointed and asked for my bill. The owner came over to me and I told her that it was a little undercooked for my liking so she picked the half piece up that I bit into with her bare hands and told me she was a master chef and it was good so I needed to eat it anyways, I said no and asked for my bill again. She said "so you don't want to pay for this?" I started to say that I'd rather not because it wasn't that great and she started yelling at me (repeatedly telling me that she is good and that she was going to call the police) before I could finish my sentence that I will pay for it even though I didn't eat it. Sorry, I should have mentioned earlier that I am also a waitress--a good one at that. I sat there quietly while she continued to yell at me, then 2 more ladies came over to get her away from me then proceeded to yell at me the same things. I have no doubt that she is good at what she does, I just didn't like the way it was done. My bill came to $14.59 and because I know how hard it is to get by in the restaurant business I left $17.00. Was that too nice?
Oh yah, she also told me that I ate too much.
My partner and I have lived in New West for 6 months and have eaten at Koharu numerous times. The only bad thing we can say about it is that our nigiri and sashimi weren't that great the couple times we tried.
The rolls are what we love - they are tasty and you get tons for your money. The other Japanese dishes are great too - our favs are the house-made shrimp gyoza.
Good, simple sushi. Great value. Friendly service.
