I have been to River’s Reach quite a few times since it opened back 10 years ago or so. The pluses of the place are the ambiance and the food and beer. I have not been to many pubs that have Humus and Tzatziki as an appy or a decent chilli and the Fire Hall burger is a winner. The beer list is great too, Guinness, Kilkenny, Heineken. The décor has to be up there with the best in the GVRD. Nice wood work, stone fireplaces, great old photos of New West etc. It is always packed which is a good sign too.
That said, what is up with the servers? Most are grumpy and won’t give you the time of day. I’m not sure why they all look so unfriendly. It’s not just me either. Many people I have spoken with have mentioned the same thing. This is the service industry, being somewhat friendly is part of the job. It’s too bad because if they were to lob the odd “hi, how are you today” once in a while this pub would hit it out of the park in my opinion. May the owners don’t care as the place is packed all the time. Just my take.
I've been here a few times with friends to grab a bite to eat and maybe a drink or two. The food is always good-quality pubfare with some nice entrees as well (pastas, salads, steaks). They have drink & food specials as well.
The service is decent, they're sometimes a little slow with orders and not exceptionally friendly. Overall, this doesn't detract from an otherwise nice pub (with a pool table) to hang out with friends.
I've been going to this pub for over a year now, and it's always good. The interior of the pub is nice and cozy, even better if I get a table by the fire! I just wish they had a better patio for summer.
The food is reasonably priced and I've never had a problem with it, neither have any of my friends, they love the half price pizza night. They also have great drink specials. However, beware, they charge refills on pop, ice tea, etc.
The service can be hit or miss, depending on the server. This place is always packed, but they are usually really good about greeting you and getting your drink order right away.
The crowd is a mix, much like New West itself, never sure who will be at the pub, many times we've been asked to join another table next to us, people there are very friendly.
All in all, this place is great for dinner on a week night and for drinks after work on a friday.
some of the best pub food ive ever had and consistent which is very hard to find these days. wicked ambience with the wood everywhere and fireplace. slow ditzy waitresses that need attitude adjustments haven't been there in a long time due to just that. maybe ill go back soon and see if anythings changed. aside from the service i really like this place.
Packed and for good reason. Loads of pretty women here. Eye candy central. Ever since Rivers Reach opened, I've been going there for pints, wine, chicken wings and fish and chips.
Bar none, they have the best pub style fish and chips. Although, be warned, 2 pieces gets you two giant slabs of fish and unless you have an abnormally large appetite there's no way you'll finish it all. Wine is reasonably marked up. Also, the waitresses are quick and if tipped well quick to remember ya. blonde Eye candy. Everything there is a hit.
Highly recommend, go go go!
This place has great service and good food for a great value. Every night they have something on special (both food and drinks) and most of the waitress do a great job of serving. Management is pretty good as well since they are right out there helping the making sure everything is going good in the bar. I would suggest checking out this place.
This just in.. They are in the mist of building a new outdoor patio out from (on 6th street) Should help with the seating.
I have lived In New West for a year without realizing this place existed. I was missing out! This upscale pub is great for lunch dates, dinner or having a few drinks and watching the game on one of their many TV's. Even on the heated/covered patio they have a big screen accompanied by a keno and poker tv.
The menu is quite extensive with great daily specials. The saturday half price pizza is amazing! Prices are reasonable as well. An all around great pub.
That being said...non of the waitresses look like they want to be there and service can be a bit slow. The one thing that really annoys me is standing at the bar for 5 minutes waiting to put through a keno ticket and having three different waitresses walk infront of you (behind the bar....beside the till) a handful of times and not even go so far as to say "someone will be right with you".
For the atmosphere and food that Rivers Reach has I can live with the service. Nobody can be perfect! My new local favorite. And I will be telling others to give it a try too.
