We dined at this one last night. We had the chicken skewers appetizers - $7.99 for 4 skewers.
They looked like thaey has been cooked 2 days ago. They were dried out, almost like eating jerky.
We had the ginger beef, and it was the same. The meat was overcooked and dried out, like it had been cooked ahead of time. The only decent dish was the curried prawns. It was actually favourful. That said, the dish sizes were extremely small. The prawn dish had 6 small prawns in it and a few slices of red pepper for $13.99. The same witht he ginger beef ($13.99). We also ordered a large bowl of rice, which was anything but large, and it was $4.00. We did use an Entertainment coupon, and wonder if that had anything to do with our dish sizes. We also asked for water, and never got it.
All in all, it was overpriced for what we got (even with the coupon), and quality was poor. We would not return.

I decided to try Pattaya because I had a taste for Thai food, it is conveniently close to where I live, and they passed all of their health inspections. I was not disappointed, to say the least.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the place is tiny and doesn’t look like much from outside, but it is warm and inviting inside. (Only problem I found with the ambiance is that the strobe light they have outside reflected on the window and it was annoying me. I guess I could’ve just say to face the other way…) The place is also very clean and well maintained.

The service is simply outstanding, not terribly fast but not too slow either. But always remarkably attentive and friendly. It really does feel like they are happy that you’re there.

The food is very good. I must admit I’ve only ever tried to pad thai and the tofu swimming rama, but they were both excellent. I always want to have an appetizer but I never order one because I know I won’t be able to eat it all. I guess it’s good to go with people you can share food with.

Value is good, I don’t remember exactly what the prices are so I’m guessing it’s neither overprices nor incredibly cheap. It’s definitely on the affordable side.

Overall it is one of my favourite restaurants in New West and I should probably go more often. People should go there instead of Hon’s and King Sushi which are both right next door… The service is better, and so is the food and it’s cleaner too.

Decent Thai food

My wife and I went here last Friday night for dinner. We ordered the Hot and sour soup, pad thai noodles, and Gang Panang chicken with white rice. The soup came out first and it was ok. It is basically hot and sour broth with some prawns and various spices. It was nothing that I will order again in the near future. The pad thai was delicious and the gang panang chicken was creamy and spicy. I was informed by the owner that this restaurant just opened 3 months ago and the previous restaurant was also a thai place. Overall the experience was positive and I would come back. But I am still searching for the perfect thai restaurant.

Hidden Gem

We discovered Pattaya quite by accident and what a hidden gem in New West. The Thai owners are wonderful friendly folk and the food was completely authentic, delicious, well presented and over all just fantastic. We ordered the Pad Thai, Cashew Nut Chicken, Thai Vegetables and Green Chicken Curry. I would highly recommend all of these dishes. Curry was unbeatable for flavour, the Pad Thai was a perfect texture and the flavour delicious, not too sweet, not sticky, just a perfect tamarind blend. The stir fry dishes were also beautifly prepared, vegetables fresh and crunchy and the stirfried chicken cashews the same with a wonderful subtle flavour that was addictive, not overpoweringly citrus as in other less desirable establishments. The owner provided first class service, extremely attentive, refilled our tea without asking, attended to the rice, offering more before we could notice we needed it. I would higly recommend this place to Thai food lovers. It's clean, the food is absolutely delicious, the service excellent, the ambiance very good, the resturant very clean and tastefully decorated.

Truely enjoyable, highly recommendable, we'll be back!

Hidden Gem for sure. Careful not to blink while you are looking for it! Very modest inside and out. What it lacks in decor, it makes up for with taste!
The manager suggested the Prawn & Crab rolls as an appetizer, as they were recently featured as one of the "100 things you have to try" in Vancouver magazine. They were fantastic! The cream cheese was well balanced with the spicy Thai sauce, it sounds like an odd combination, but it really works. We also had the Pad Thai, and Red Curry. Both were outstanding. We finished off the night with deep fried banana, topped with coconut ice cream.
We couldn't wait to eat the leftovers the next day!

This location used to be a different Thai restaurant until they shut down and sold the building to different owners around two months ago. Since the restaurant is so new, not many people know about it. The owner is a very friendly man who always checked in on us. The food was very fresh and quickly delivered for a reasonable price. My sister and I personally don't like green curry but it was fantastic here. I highly suggest the red curry as well. The restaurant itself was nice - the ambiance was inviting. Pay at the counter to avoid confusion - the family that works the restaurant are fairly new from Thailand and are accustomed to paying the bill at the front. We made a mistake and left the money on the table, starting to leave and saying goodbye to the owner and they thought we were dining and dashing. The four elderly people we were with sure got a kick out of the dashing part!

P.S. They don't treat you like criminals at this restaurant. It was just funny the way the owner said "But wait, you didn't pay yet..."
