The Pantry features a menu of Canadian family classics prepared using the freshest, quality ingredients.
The turkey dinner with cinnamon apples on the side was very, very good. I enjoyed it a lot and will probably come back for it soon. I have been to a couple of Pantry Restaurants. Their menu seems a bit limited, without too much choice, but what they have there they do well. The value is definitely there.
Not too many choices in New West so decided to try the Pantry. Got there at 11am and decided to order a burger instead of breakfast. They had a $8.99 burger special and ordered the mushroom and cheese burger. Had some hot peppers on them but not as hot as they described. Overall good size patty but pretty hard meat, nice bun. Burger was pretty average. It came with soup but you can have unlimited fries. Soup was tomoto noodle and it was not very good, sort of an afterthought it seemed. Service was quick and efficient. Value was decent for what you got. The place needs an upgrade as it seems worn down. Would return for breakfast next time.
A bunch of us decided to go for a holiday breakfast, and the P-zone was close for members of the gang without cars. The restaurant was clean inside and service was brisk. One downside was that our 2 for 1 coupons we had were not being honored. That was disappointing. We had a variety of brekky foods and burgers and all were okay. We also availed ourselves of some bottomless fries, which I am pleased to say did not involve pant removal. As for value, it would have been cheaper with the coupons, but it still was not expensive.
Okay for what it was.
While considered a "family" restaurant, often this location is filled with mainly adult patrons. This late morning the atmosphere was, for a Saturday, surprisingly more 'adult-oriented' than 'family-oriented'.
My husband and I enjoyed our quiet visit seated in one of the restaurant's many high-backed booths, a design that seems to suggest a sense of intimacy & privacy. The restaurant is decorated in dark brown wood and cinnamon colors.
The "Cracked Pepper, BBQ Bacon Burger" (with fries) is my favorite menu item. I enjoy the 'skillets' and omelettes too.
I find the service is generally very good. Enjoy!
Despite terrible reviews from a neighbor, we decided to bite the bullet, take a coupon and try out the pantry one evening for dinner. We tend to go for dinner pretty early now that we have a toddler because by the time you sit down and order and get your food, it's near the kid's dinnertime, so we were there promptly at 5:00. It wasn't extremely busy, but there were a few tables. We also tend to be pretty relaxed, but I think the fact that everyone around us was complaining, and the really terrible lighting/ambiance made us start to get a little antsy. Our service didn't seem to be too bad until after our cold dinner was delivered, and then we didn't see the waitress in forever. We had ordered a beer before the food arrived and it didn't come with the food, and then it just got worse. Our kid didn't even get offered the milk or ice cream that was supposed to come with the meal, and we sat with our plates of half eaten food (it was tasteless and boring) sitting in front of us for about 25 minutes before we got a chance to flag the waitress and get our bill. The owner/manager was full of apologies as we paid even though we didn't even open our mouths to complain . . . we just figured we'd never return. But even for those that did complain, he didn't offer a coupon or free meal, he just said sorry. It was kind of lame.
This restaurant needs to be completely revamped. The portions of food are too small and the servers are overworked and clearly underpaid which results in them being rude and aloof to their patrons. We went in for lunch and ordered the turkey dinner paltes, at 3 pm. We were told mashed potatos werent available until 5pm, and were given french fries instead. Seriously, who eats a turnley meal with stuffing and cranberry sauce with french fires? and whats with not serving mashed potatoes until 5pm? They are on the menu without this stipulation so COME ON!!
Not only that but the portions were so small we barely even noticed the stuffing, and the servers were arguing over who had to serve us, and we heard this. There was no manager on.... the whole establishment is garbage and we won't be back. I get the impression they are used to serving seniors and have let the standards slip a bit just because seniors arent so comfortable with complaining, but remember they are people to and although I am not one of them it is just rude to take money from them and not give them, or anyone, proper service and value for their money. Im choosing to stay away, I think it's deplorable.
This place has bad service, and even worse food, coffee tasted like it had been made hours before hand. Waitress looked like the just come from a crack den. Used to be the place to go for a good breakfast but that isn't true anymore! And breakfast is one of the easiest meals to make. Would not suggest eating here!
Haven't been there for a long time, so went again last Sunday. I was reminded why. Food is ok but for a AYCE buffet. it seemed they were deliberately slow in refilling the food. Even the potatoe salad stayed empty all the time we were there. (around 11:00-12:00) and their buffet runs from 9:00-2:00. they refilled the pancakes, bacons and sausages, but the other lunch type hot foods stayed empty and people were scraping the bottom of the pan for the curry sauce to go on the rice (I'm not making this up).
on the other hand, the waitress was friendly and attentive.
Came here on St Paddy's day hoping for some festivity, however they had none of that. We also quickly found out they were not licensed, and our waitress was not interested in waiting on us at all. The food was good, service not so much. It is a chain so it doesn't have a very nice feel to it.
