Ki Sushi was formerly named Kirin Sushi and is open 7 days a week 11:00am to 10:00pm.
My wife and I come here usually just to grab a quick lunch. They have a nice little selection of three items plus a miso soup for under 15$! Its great!!The people there are always so friendly too! They always smile and are very polite and the place is very clean too.
One of our favorite sushi bars!!
Decent food for decent price. Don't expect to find outstanding sushi here.
Used to go here a lot when I was studying at Douglas College, only because it's close and cheap. I think after that, I've only went once through friends' invitation. Even after the name change (Kirin -> Ki), the menu quality didn't improve. It's still cheap though...
i went there once with a friend of mine. overall, it was satisfactory, nothing spetacular. the service was above par as what you would expect from a japanese restaurant.
the food itself was okay - like what you would find in other above average japanese restaurant. one thing i did learn was that plum wine is not wothywhile, at least at Kirin. it tasted like dilluted and sweetened rose (the red wine).
Have you ever been to Kirin Restaurant? If you haven't, you definitely should go and try at least once in your life. If you did, you must believe what I said because the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant is so good. Of course, the price and the quantity are the major reasons why you should go.
Now, I have a good news for you. There is a new Chinese restaurant opened right next to the Kirin Restaurant called Dragon Palace Chinese Restaurant. Believe or not, if you have never ever tried Chinese food, after you tried the food in this Chinese restaurant, you will love Chinese food for sure. Therefore, don't waste your time, just go(maybe run)!!!!!
The food is 99 times out of 100 excellent! Great prices too! The staff are almost all warm and friendly (there are one or two exceptions) and they really get to know you when you order frequently. Super fast delivery too if you don't want to eat in the restaurant. They're opening up a Dragon Palace Chinese Restauraunt soon too!!!
Having made an effort to visit as many sushi places in the lower mainland as possible, I find myself back at Kirin more often than any.
The food is reliably good, and the ambience is surprisingly nice for where it's located.
Their $8 Lucky Choice lunch special is a good cheap fill, and it's still one of the only places around I've found Koloke (try it, they're great!)
Definately worth checking out
I was pleasantly surprise upon entering this restaurant as guests are greeted by a large pond containing numerous Koi, I can only imagine what they will look like after 30 years. We were pleasantly greeted by our hostess who quickly directed us to our table. The interior perimeter of the restaurant is surrounded by private eating booths where guests remove their shoes before entering. The service was excellent and my water glass was never empty. The food was outstanding and our order consisted of Edemame, Dynamite rolls, California roll and several pieces of salmon sashimi (sockeye to boot). The food was fresh, full of flavour and arrived quickly. Although our server spoke broken english and had a heavy Japanese accent she nevertheless made an excellent attempt at engaging us in conversation and I found her to be genuine and quite pleasant. Overall, this restaurant was outstanding and I can't wait for my next sushi craving.
I was surprised to see that this restaurant was not on the list. Kirin is the jewel of New West, and is located across from the skytrain station. Easy access people! I judge sushi restaurants by the sashimi first. The sashimi (wild salmon) is fresh and buttery in texture. The rolls and cones are very good as well. Prices are very reasonable. However, sometimes if the restaurant is busy you end up waiting. Bring good conversation and give this place a try.
