The reviews made Burger Burger sound viable so on another burger binge my gf and I headed here.
It's in a seedier part of New West and upon entering, really does live up to the hype of a dive. It's dirty, unkempt with homemade menus and complete with old, sticky tables and crappy vinyl chairs. Even the red ketchup squeeze bottles look at little suspect. If you have any ounce of being fussy, you won't like it here.
We didn't care so we ordered and sat down while we waited. My gf went with the single mushroom while I went big with the bigger 6oz double patty with cheese and bacon. We shared a poutine and a bottle of coke as they do not have a fountain machine. The patties are hand formed and has an authentic homespun flavour to it. It even tastes the part as they trade juiciness with a dense, more meatloaf type body and consquently they are a little more dry. They do use orange processed cheese and strip bacon which are rather expensive add ons but again, I likened the way they do not accompany with ketchup or mustard condiments for you but you do get lettuce, white onions and tomato. The poutine was mediocre with a typical gravy and fries but the sparce topping of shredded cheese seemed cheap.
It's a family run business so despite the visuals the people are friendly and bring your order to your table. They also seem to have a loyal following with what looked like many regulars.
I like regular Joe, blue collar approved food stops and this one easily makes that list.
me and my friends always go to burger burger for lunch when we get the chance.
the food is always good, never disappointed.
for $7 you can get a burger with poutine and drink. great value!
the food always fills you up but sometimes gives you this aftertaste for a few hours when you burp.
the thing that stands out at burger burger besides the value is the couple who run it.
many times me and my friends have gone and 1 or 2 of them didnt order anything simply because they did not have any lunch money, the couple always gives them free fries! making sure they dont leave empty handed,
class act. the place can use some renovation and cleaning up.
This place is run by a Korean couple who serve up honest, home-made burgers. The burgers themselves are a bit dry but tasty. Freshly cooked fries and toasted buns are appreciated when compared to fast food places that have no qualms serving soggy, lukewarm fries and whose burgers sit in warmers for hours. A great deal for $5 + change that includes the burger with cheese or mushrooms, fries and a can of pop.
This place is in no means a "dine in" spot. with maybe 6 small sized tables and few chairs.
burgers are alright, chicken burger is really very bad. Otherwise tasty grub!
Woman behind the counter, wife of the owner I am told, is cute as a button. Accommodating and polite.
If you do decide to dine in, tons of mags and newspapers.
A rundown little café devoid of gloss and glamour: specials posted on colored copier paper the Korean couple couldn’t fit on the marquee, something they likely inherited from the previous operator. A narrow counter runs along the glass windows, and a few wobbly tables are bunched together in the middle with small baskets of ketchup, mustard, and vinegar. Laborers were eating here, and a lady from the Salvation Army across the street came in to place a large order for her clients. It is refreshingly hard to love, a working man’s café.
What it lacks in style, it makes up for in substance: hand formed patties smashed down on the grill, real bacon (or mushroom), a slice of processed cheese, topped and steam finished with fixings, if you want, and a soft, pillow-y Kaiser bun, lightly toasted with a little mayo. I disagree with other reviewers that the fries are fresh cut. The fries have the skin left on but it is still from frozen. Frozen fries have gotten smarter. But all this and a can of pop for $5.69 plus HST.
You won’t discover anything amazing here, no holy grail of burgers, no overwrought, organically passionate proprietors with an easy grin, no themes harkening on our insatiable appetite for the nostalgic. Just good and cheap burgers that you can feel guilty about eating and loving and, perhaps, this is the best discovery of all.
I love the burger combo (Cheese burger w/ mushroom + fries + pop), it's inexpensive and it's delicious. I usually go there once a week due to my crazy craving for their burger, and it never disappoints. The nice lady will take my order and I'll wait for a bit and she'll bring it out to me. Other than burgers they also have a good amount of choices, such as soup and sandwhiches. The ambiance is more of a older cafe style, but it's comfortable and clean. LOVE THIS PLACE.
Great burger place wrapped in a greasy spoon wrapper. Place was empty on a Friday night at 6:30 when I arrived. I was a little nervous, as the place looks a little beat up and the fact there was no one else there was not a good sign. My son and I ordered the A Special - burger with bacon/cheese + fries+ coke for $5.95. The burger arrived and all my fears evaporated - hand made burger, well spiced, with all the fixings, and a great toasted bun. Delicious. The fries were good too, and the pop is cold. I was very happy. Way better than Micky D's, Wendy's, or A&W....and better than some of the "custom" burgers..I'd say about equivalent to Vera's, but humble and inexpensive. Next time I'm in New West I will be having a Burger Burger!
tried the 6oz combo that includes a weiner on top with cheese. The patty was dry no real taste to it, the bun was nice but not toasted. It it was toasted some it would have been better. Good fresh toppings.
The fries appeared to be home made skin on but were cooked in old oil and were a bit soggy.
My friend had the korean babq burger he said it was ok not a flavorfull as it should be but still ok. I tried a bit it was not too bad better then the plain patty.
The place was clean, a bit old nothing a good clean and pain job could not fix. bang for buck it was ok fresh oil for the fries and not over cook the burger so it retainssome juice it will be a good place for a burger fix.
I go here whenever I am in the area. The chinese way of making burgers seems to be the same in a few places, if anyone remembers Save On Meats on Hastings, This place has a similar style and taste. Although not as good as Save On Meats, the place is cleaner (probably) and is still open, which Save on Meats is not.
Go here for a burger and fries deal, grab a tall can from the beer and wine store and drink it in there covertly, the experience is best shared. They have that chinese garlic hot sauce with the chicken on it and black pepper and salt for the fries and the burger. Oh yes, the fries are quite good. Very cheap, very unhealthy, very salty and generally alright, especially with a tall can.
All in all, its a greasy place, but its cheap as hell, and when its raining and your in new west, where it always rains, its either here or subway, and subway is the worst.
been here twice, can't get a better deal anywhere else for the quality of food and low price. less than $6 for a bacon or mushroom cheeseburger, fries and a can o pop. the ambiance isn't the greatest but better than some places i've been. the food is cooked and prepared when ordered, and really good, the fries are of the fresh cut variety so extra marks there.
will definately go back for more burger burger, and recommended it to everyone as a better alternative to the regular fast food "restaurants".
good cheap place for lunch.
old fashioned burger place cheaper than the big chains and way better food.
nice people good portions homemade food.
dirty, so thats a bit of a turn off.
the restroom is one of the dirtiest in the lowermainland,no excuse for that.
overall tho a great place.
Under $6 for freshly cooked burger, fires and a can of pop - nice and cold.
Home made patty and fresh cut potato's. If you want simple and satisfying with friendly owners you will love this place. Nothing precooked or double battered. The wait was short.
I hate going to Earl's etc and Eating their proven Sysco patties and cold fries and being out $15 to $17 although the crowd will be younger and better looking.
I went to Burger Burger for my first time last summer and oh my ever since than i am addicted. Cheap price, awesome burger loaded and fresh. Combo with a can of pop, cheaper than Mcdicks and way more delicious, well obviously thats a given. They are an older oriental couple, always smiling and friendly. I wont ever stop going there, they have my vote for best burger in new west at the best price!
I used to eat here a lot when I lived in the area. The burgers are awesome, the poutine is really good too. And the homemade soups are really good, the mushroom soup is amazing. Good food for an even better price
Like the previous reviewer have mentioned... this place is what it is. If you're local to the area it's a good hole-in-the-wall burger joint that's family owned and run.
Burgers are made from frozen, kinda plain but for the price why not?
Better yet, for not much more and since you're in New West already, why not go to Burger Heaven?
I was directed to this mom n pop place via another website, and I thank them for it.
It's just a burger joint, but it's good, it's fresh, and it's cheap. Everything a burger joint should be.
I have no idea why everything in this town needs to be GOURMET or UPSCALE, when all you want is meat, cheese, bun and grease. Burger Burger delivers.
Recommending the regular mushroom n cheese special, wholeheartedly.
I'll add to the other reviews here and say, instead of going to McDonald's or BK, get your burger here if you live in New West. It's a friendly little burger joint where they make homemade burgers with fresh buns, fresh toppings, and real fries, and you can get a combo (with pop) for about the same price as the above fast food places. The decor is a little divey, but whatever. The food was really good and fast.
They also have other menu selections like sandwiches, soup and I think breakfast, but I can't comment on these (except to note the prices were low), since I haven't tried.
Where else can you go and get home made soup any sandwhich you desire for under $5? They have two soup choices every day. Burgers are awesome! Nummy stir fry! Great breakfast!
Simply go up to the counter, order your food for eat in or take out! You will be amazed at the quality of food and what you pay!
This place is not about decore, it's all about great food at an amazing price! You will not leave with out a full tummy!
We accidentally found this place and what a find it is. Yes it's not much to look at but who really cares when everything is fresh and homemade and worth much more then the other guys...
My fav is the cream of mushroom soup, i ve never had anything like it anywhere and then the tuna melt OMG its delicious
the burgers are all homemade and the fries cant be beat.. theres a lot on the menu for a burger joint, including chinese fare and breakfast.
We go into this place for a quick stop in occasionally, and its always been worth it.
The couple that run it are always nice, and i ve never waited a long time for my food, despite how busy they sometimes get.
When comparing them to Burger Haven, the only noticeable difference is the price and that burger haven has grape pop on tap, but at Burger burger you can get it in a can. In these economic hardships, why pay a lot when you can just get a lot and support a local small mom and pop shop?
burger burger is really good. I enjoy coming here because there food is inexpensive and actually good. You get a very generous helping and leave full. I've had the poutie here quite a few times and its amazing. they use real cheese and delicious gravy and thick cut fries. its definetly a meal to be had/
