Went there for breakfast and it's just another greasy spoon. Chinese and western food but mostly western. Chose from their breakfast specials and pretty good deals that start at around $5. Get the standard choice of meat, hash browns, toast and eggs. Average portions and good value. Service was pretty standard, coffee refills were frequent. Nothing really to talk about with respect to ambiance as it's just a diner.
We hit Amelia's for breakfast once in a while and have never been disappointed.
For around $5 bucks you get 2 eggs, toast, hash browns and sausage or bacon. The service is friendly and the place is clean. A nice option if you don't want to dress up or go anywhere fancy for breakfast on a lazy Sunday...
ok, I wasn't expecting much when I ate here, but I did expect better than what I got. Don't get me wrong, nothing was horrible, but nothing was great either. The food was decent, though I think jim's cafe down the street serves better tasting food, and the service was so-so. The server seemed a bit pushy, seeming to expect me to order the second I sat down. I did like their style of hashbrowns though, which helped prop up the mediocre meal. I would probably only go again if other places nearby weren't open. Just didn't impress me.
I like a good, cheap breakfast on the weekends, and this place ranks among the best of this type in New Westminster. Plus, the server was uber-friendly, and there were a lot of different food choices. If you're afraid of a divey little place, don't bother going in, but if you don't mind, head on in and enjoy the greasy goodness.
Amelia Cafe may not look like much from the outside, but the food is great! The prices are phenomenal! You cannot beat their prices! $4.50 for a bacon and egg breakfast is amazing! The decor leaves a little something to be desired, but it's certainly no reason to miss out on the great food. I rated fairly low on the service rating mainly because of the new waitress they hired. We finally convinced a friend of ours to join us for breakfast and she treated him like he was holding up her whole day. He was completely turned off and will not be returning. We, however, know that it's not the restaurant, it's just her. I just wish they would do something about her attitude. Train her to be more patient and pleasant - not so in a rush! Slow down, make sure you have everyone's orders right, and please, give me three seconds to hand you my coffee cup for a refill before you decide I'm taking too long and leave. Anyway, Amelia's food is great and you can't beat the prices. Just try to smile at the waitress when she comes whizzing up to your table like a Tasmanian devil.
If your wallet is the biggest concern for you when buying breakfast, this is a great place. Much better prices than IHOP or one of those chain breakfast places. It's a typical greasy spoon place which means that it isn't too pleasing aesthetically. It's a good place to go once in a while, but as is typical of greasy spoons, the food is greasy, so don't go too often.
We often choose this little place for breakfast when we're in New Westminster early in the day for medical appointments. It's just simple neighbourhood cafe, nothing fancy, or pretentious, just decent breakfast stuff, priced inexpensively, and served with prompt and courteous service.
We've gone here several times and always have a laugh at the decor... but really enjoy it because of the food and value. You can get breakfast (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast) for less than $5. Coffee is good too. The servers are busy but try to get your refills done asap and are quite friendly. We'll keep going if they keep it up! The 12th st location is just as solid but I have'nt gone in a while.
This place can sometimes have a line up out the door on a weekend.
Its good cheap food. Fast service. The seating is not the best, but if you just want some breakfast its a good place to be.I have only had breakfast here , so the rest is unknown.
Have dined at this restaurant for breakfast and lunch many times. The staff is always polite and cheerfull. No wonder this place is usually busy..breakfast is Under $5 inclucing:
coffee, eggs, toast, real potatoes, with bacon, sausage or ham. Coffee flows freely, staff are very nice, foods great..prices are cheap..what more can one ask for?And this is the Amelia restaurant on 6th in New West,..not 12th..have not been to that one yet. Cheers..JFZ
Delighted to come here for breakfast anytime... if you want it big, cheap and fast this is the perfect place. A nice menu with quite a few choices for big or small breakfasts brought to you quickly by a very efficient and friendly staff. No frills, just plain food served at a good price. My only regrets is that this place doesn't serve breakfasts on Mondays or the Tuesdays after a long weekend and is usually closed by 4PM.
