ordered here a few times now and every time the delivery is insanely quick and the food is still crispy and hot . general tao is one of the best i've hadm real crispy and big pieces of chicken, just the right amount of batter ratio. cannot vouch for all the food but i've liked everything i've tried yet.
Great breakfast spot that provides very healthy food that is delicious. I have to admit it was my wife who introduced me to this spot initially, but now I see myself coming here more than she does. Only complaint is that the Wifi is a little flaky, according to where you sit at.
There is a great variety of sandwiches, salads and juices to choose from. I usually get a chicken sandwich with avocado and aragula or some crepes with fresh fruit. Coffee is usually the drink to go, as I need something to wake up. Never had a problem with the staff but under new management service has just gotten so much better.
Cacao 70 is one of our newfound spots for sweet stuff. As soon as you step in, the place smells of chocolate-y goodness. My kids love coming here and so does my wife. I know it is also a brunch/breakfast spot but I don't really recommend it for that. I find the menu to be a little 'meh' or substandard in that regard.
Service is not very good, a little slow and inattentive at times; many times we are left waiting to be attended. But chocolate is THE main attraction here. You can get anything from waffles, to chocolate pizzas. Love the fondues (chocolate, of course) and hot chocolates.
Le Gourmet Burger is one of those places you go for the food, not really service or anything else. Every time I come here, I am reminded of my college days. I did not grow up in Montreal, but there were many places like these back home: solid food joint places.
Known for their poutine and burgers, I only fancy their burgers. Their poutine seems a little off to me every time I try. I don't like coming here to dine in as it is full of lines and college-going kids (those were the days) but opt for takeout. Although for the prices you are paying for the food, you would imagine a little more cleanliness and service. It is called Gourmet after all, eh?
I like going for the bison burger with some cheese. There are tons of mayo selections to choose from, from which I prefer the dutch one. Everything you add to the burger is charged extra, btw. Pesto, pickles, guac, etc are an extra dollar each.
Hands down, one of the best Middle Eastern restaurant in Montreal. Not only Montreal, but it also beats all the Middle eastern places in Vancouver. Although I must note this place is considered Syrian food, I would say it gives all the other places a run of their money.
Unpretentious setting and ambience but in no way cheap, Damas is for those who are looking for quality food. I brought my girlfriend here who is not particularly a fan of Middle Eastern/ Halal places and she liked it. Love the fattouch, tatar burek and especially the kabab halabi. My suggestion is to make reservations, as it gets busy!
Agree with the diner below. La Milsa is definitely one of those places you go to when you want to have a full-on blast or celebration. I like coming here for birthdays or just celebration in general. Wouldn't recommend coming here in a small group or for a date. This is a Brazilian stakehouse, so they've incorporated some samba in the ambience, which makes for a loud, great party.
The food is delicious, all you can eat. We usually go for the turnstile. If you bring your kids, they get a discount. Also, a word of warning for those who have vegetarian friends or guests, don't bring them here. They will probably leave on an empty stomach as there is nothing for them to eat here, with an exception of a couple of things here and there, but not a full meal.
I have been to Bellissimo on a different number of occasions, for work, anniversaries, birthdays and other celebrations, so I think I can put in a word or two about this place. I would not say it is the best Italian in the city, but it definitely is not bad. The food is solid, but the service is more of a hit and miss. The staff is either withdrawn and cold or virtually non-existent.
Their drink menu is good, with 5 dollars over SAQ prices. Don't really like the pizzas but the pastas, especially the puttanesca, is good. You can catch live music on the weekends if you like but I prefer a seating at the terrasse.
As a regular at F+F, I thought it would be a safe choice for takeout. I usually go in for a pizza but this time my family was over and so I decided to just call for delivery.
We ordered the champignons sauvages and two reggianos. It was a Monday evening, so I dont know what was the wait. Our pizzas came one hour later and cold, with no "im sorry" or "excuse me" from the delivery person. I know this is a small chain and everything but there is no excuse for that.
1 - won ton soup with shrimp : it was ok
2 - pork dumplings with peanut sauce : Microwaved 3 times while I was waiting, all mushy and F**** burning inside. It's been 3hours and still burping the stuff
3-Orange beef : Absolutely Disgusting!!! Didn't even finish a piece. Loaded with salt or MSG. Still have the taste in my mouth. The sugar inside took me 5 minutes to remove from the plate on my return because I went back for refund
4 - Owner absolutely convinced in the good quality, "almost" told me to "fuck off". Gave me back my money though
Don't order there
I have been eating at Schwartz's since the 1960's. I cannot count the number of sandwiches I have eaten there. Every sandwich was awesome. Every sandwich was tasty and tender. Not anymore!! I have attempted to eat at many other delis as well but always felt that Schwartz's set the standard that all others were compared to. Thousands of people have done the same you can see on many blogs. My wife and I went twice in October. The first time we were stunned by the horrible sandwich we got. It was completely tasteless, dry and hard to chew. WOW!! None of the original cooks were there. This was a whole new crew. I had read the place sold for 10 million reportedly to Celine Dion and others. Celine Dion had owned "Nickels" and obviously knew something about smoked meat. Normally I would never return to a place after such an experience. But I had been going there for some 45 years. I hoped this was just an off day or maybe a trainee. We went back several days later to try again. Same terrible sandwich!! I had to believe the meat was way overcooked and under brined or something. I have over steamed smoked meat before and it usually becomes crumbly but not dry and hard to chew. It must be the preparation of the meat. I overheard the cooks talking to one of the waiters about how the meat should be and how to slice it. The cooks obviously don't know!! Anyone who knew what smoked meat should be like would never serve that meat. I would throw it in the garbage.
This is a tragedy. Celine Dion and others might legally own it but Schwartz's belongs to all of us. For decades we put up with the grubby place and the over aggressive service. But we all accepted this for the privilege of eating there. It was like a shrine.
Don't let these people with money get away with this!! Stand up for your rights. Object. Send back your sandwich if it is subpar. Tell everyone you can. Post reviews everywhere if you share the same experience we had.
What's more maddening is I have made my own smoked meat so often I know exactly how to fix their problem. It is not that hard.
There is something very suspicious going on here!!! Where have all the staff gone?? They claim to be using the same recipe as 1928!! Baloney!! The briskets in the window don't even look the same. If memory serves me Nickels did not do very well and had to close some locations. I ate at the Ottawa one a few times and found it very mediocre.
Well sadly I can no longer recommend Schwartz's. It is not just a little bit worse. It is now the worst smoked meat in North America I'm guessing. If you do go there as an experiment return the sandwich if it is no good. Don't let them just rely on tourists or people who don't know what smoked meat should be like.
Let your anger be heard people!
Trendy place in the old port, located in the Hotel Place d'Armes.
It was my third dinner there on last friday night and it was memorable!
The food was amazing (venison tartar and the lamb shank) and Yannick the Maitre D proposed me a very nice bottle of wine to enjoy with my meal. The service of my waitress (Clémence) was top notch too!
You select the meals you want the week ahead and then they deliver them to your home or office. You can get your whole day's meals delivered, or just one. My parents get dinners delivered 5 days a week since they are older and have some health problems (they don't offer meals on the weekends).
There is a lifestyle menu and weight-loss menu, so if you are calorie conscious then you're also in luck. The meals have a couple of options for each day, although I find them a little bit expensive, they use quality ingredients and package any sauces separately. If you buy the family pack it includes 2 adult and 2 kid portions, and the price is relatively reasonable.
Made reservations for 8 on saturday night for 11pm last weekend for my friend's birthday.
We arrived on time, our table was prepared and they have even decorated our tables for the occasion! Since it was a birthday-supper we had order 2 bottles of hard liquor to kick off the night.
Everyone started with entrees, it was hard to make a choice because they have a serious variety of dishes (hot & cold). Everything came on time and everyone was served at the same time!!! (i personaly hate when 2-3 people are missing their plates).
Main course we all took aged steaks as we wanted to have that "charcoal broiled taste", they were serisouly outstanding, litteraly melting your mouth lean and delicious.
7 of us checked in with Foursquare and they had some deal going on that we all got desserts for free!
The place got really crowded around 11pm and there was a live Dj who gave a nice warm shout out to the Birthday Girl and the staff sang Happy birthday while bringing her a Lava Cake with a birhday candle :)
A definite happy customer here :) and yes, I would go back and recommend Fuego to anyone! Even vegetarians as they have a full veggie menu!
Dined here this weekend with few friends and got to tell ya' what a find! Everything here was great from the service to ambiance and ofcourse amazing food! The chicken tikka masala was a delicacy with a touch of sweet and sour in it. The grill dishes ( Tandoori/Tikka ) came sizzling and was so tender and tasty. Butter Chicken was creamy and had great flavor to it. The desserts were nicely decorated. The service was very friendly and at par with great restaurants in this town. Overall will recommend this place to everyone and can't wait to go back.
I ordered some sushi tonight from this place and i gotta say their sushi pizza is excellent! The salmon and sashimi are very fresh! My boyfriend even calls back to make another order! Also we got to try their dragon eye sushi which came in free with our order... it was delicious!!! So glad we found this new place for our sushi cravings!
I decided to not rely on the bad comments about this place and go try it out myself but unfortunatly, i should have listen to the comments i've read...There are much better italian places in Montreal where you will feel more welcome, less "snoby" staff, much better quality of food for the money you'll spend..Yes the place looks really great, music was quit good but i was mostly looking to enjoy my dinner with my friends...Thank God the company was great cause the restaurant itself is not worthed the money trust me...
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal.. and that's saying something. The food is freshly cooked and so flavourful and delicious. And if you run out of injera to scoop it up, you can just ask for some more. The owners/cook are very friendly and accommodating and we probably eat here every 3-4 weeks because it's so yummy. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait. Every dish is cooked fresh from the raw ingredients, so it takes time to prepare. But it's well worth waiting for.
Le Milsa churascaria is an excellent venue for groups of all sizes! Where else can you start getting food service within 5 minutes of sitting down? The all-you-can-eat menu is absolutely amazing with savory meats grilled to perfection on the charcoal grill. There is a salmon plate available for those who do not eat meat and children eat for free under 5 years old (1/2 price for kids between 5-10). The authentic Brazilian experience really gets under way when the live proffessional samba show starts and the dancers visit every table encouraging guests to dance and take photos. A great place for dinner, fantastic ambiance and great value!!
This is by far the worst Indian restaurant I've been to. The waiter was poorly trained as he didn't speak English or French, he would just nod and act as if he understood. When the food arrived, it was ALL wrong! My wife is allergic to cajous, yet he still came back with a plate of cajous and various other nuts. For a group of 6 people, our bill came up to be around $150, excluding drinks, taxes and tips! In all the meat platters, we received exactly 5 pieces of chicken...like wow...what the hell. This is really not the restaurant you should go to have a real Indian experience!!
