We live in Mission and dine out a fair bit. We usually go for Sushi but were in the mood for fish and chips so we decided to try out Missions only fish and chip shop. The food was really nasty, dried out, chewy and bland. To add to the experience the service was laughably bad. I don't think the people staffing the place really wanted our business and it showed. I would not go back if they were giving it away.
This has been one of my families favorite resteraunts. Well I will not recomend this to any other people. I took my grand daughter out for lunch..."suprize on the bill....$30. wow I did not leave a tip......this is why. the counter we sat at wan not washed and felt like oil...I ordered child serving for her and regular dinner two pieces for myself...choc milk for her water for me....we were asked if we wanted cole slaw or gravey...one each so we could share without extra cost ...or so I thought. the bill listed extra 2+ for gravey I was unable to eat....cole slaw $2+ the choc milk?? I ordered a deep fred mars bar to share.....total bill $30.00 + the value was not there the server did not advise us there were extra costs for gravey and I explained I am on a low sodium diet and may not be able to have the gravey she was going to find out if it was a jigh salt portion....the cole slaw usually comes with this type of a meal well not here....there seemed to be a banana flavour in the batter?? oh well learned something today....Not to go back to The Wee Chippie in Mission again........why would I what a sad day this is....
Very friendly servers and fast service.
Good size portions - had the halibut and it was great. I asked for light batter and no problem. The kids ate all-you-can-eat, which is anytime and on any day of the week. Music was fun and atmosphere was pleasant.
The family and I will defintly be back.
The new owner of this place has ruined it. It used to be good but no more. My family and my wife's family are from Belfast, Northern Ireland and I am also a chef. The batter was so, dark and overly crunchy. I mean so crunchy that you could cut yourself on it. There was hardly any fish inside of the blob of batter. There chips were improperly cooked and were overly dark on the outside but verging on raw in the center. I'm pretty sure that the oil hadn't been changed in quite some time judging in part by the puddle of it that was on my plate. The server was nice and took one of our meals off the bill. She seemed to be used to people complaining about the food. As far as value goes, portion of chips was very stingy compared to most good chippies I have been to and there was very little actual fish. Mostly just batter. Will not go back.
