Been here so many times that I know the owners by name. The lamb is to die for, as is the calamari. Very large servings and always made fresh and hot. Greek salad is wonderful as they make their own dressing for it. Nikos and Vicki make their own tzatziki which is enough to come back for alone. My favorite is calamari with extra tzatziki, Greek salad and no potato (the rice is heavenly). If you want a major feed at a moderate price (calamari dinner is $13.95) this is the spot to go. There are other Greek establishments in Mission, but they can't hold a candle to this one.
I was at this place several different times since it opened last June. When it first opened they had a kitchen manager or chef (not sure which) who I met and I truly enjoyed his products. He had a prime rib rub that was to die for and also had a staff who were really excited working with him to bring the place on line.
Since then, I have been there a few times and was told he left the restaurant and that the management has done a lot of changing of the staff. The quality of the food has dropped over my last 2 visits and at my last visit it was so poor that I just left it and paid my bill, then left. I have been a chef and restauranteur for over 45 years and thought that this place would be a great addition to the Mission dining scene, but I am sorry to say that the owner(s) have missed the mark seriously. By losing the guy I met, they have drastically reduced their appeal to this respondent at least.
I am telling all the people I know in the area to avoid eating there. There is a great Greek restaurant just a block and a half east, called Eleni's. Calamari and lamb to die for.
We live in Mission and dine out a fair bit. We usually go for Sushi but were in the mood for fish and chips so we decided to try out Missions only fish and chip shop. The food was really nasty, dried out, chewy and bland. To add to the experience the service was laughably bad. I don't think the people staffing the place really wanted our business and it showed. I would not go back if they were giving it away.
We really enjoy eating at this restaurant. Everyone should try their Prime Rib
This place is awesome. Service is great too. Can't believe the size of the breakfast you get and all the coffee you can drink for only $8.88 A lot of other restaurants meals are over 20 dollars and you pay for your drinks too
This place used to be in The Real Canadian Superstore before moving to 1st Ave.
Food is decent. It's usually been sitting there for a little while, as this is mostly pre-made chinese sitting in the warming trays waiting for you to choose what you would like.
The (owner?) is really nice, always welcoming and friendly when you enter, if he's behind the counter. Will happily offer you a taste of anything your looking at getting.
That being said they fill up your styrofoam trays with lots of food. Everything I've tried has been really good, nothing bad.
If you want fast chinese take-out, this is place to go to.
Yup, you read right, they forgot the meat in my moms burger! Now this had happened to me once, at McDonalds, where it really wasn't a huge surprise. But a sit down restaurant that's not fast food? And a NEW restaurant at that? I was really looking forward to eating here, a brand new place in little Mission. What a disappointment.
The server seemed indifferent to the obviously stupid oversight. Simply returned it and brought back a burger with meat.
The food itself was barely passable, and the prices were too high for what you get. (or don't get)
And there was no "Sorry about forgeting to put the meat pattie in your burger" or any apology whatsover. What a waste of money and time. And of course no percent taken off the bill.
I've told everyone I know, and I will never return. It's a great location right on 1st Ave. in Mission. Let's hope this place is gone and replaced with a great restaurant instead.
I've probably visited here roughly 20 times.
Food is decent, price is decent, and service is decent.
Nothing great. I did have one bad experience where the (owner?) sat there ignoring me while chatting on the phone. After about 10 minutes of him chatting away he finally came to help me. No sorry, nothing. I wasn't impressed to say the least.
I only go here if it's convienent.
I've been here a handful of times. It's a tiny little place, tucked behind/off of the main street in Mission.
The food is decent, nothing to write home about. I figured it a little pricey for portion size and the flavour wasn't that great.
They do have delicious fresh baked bread that I enjoyed very much. But that was about it. I felt that I could make everything else (especially the ribs) much better at home.
Might go back to try a sandwich but the BBQ I'll leave to myself and spouse.
This is by far the best place for sushi in Mission.
The place itself is nice, booths, but fairly roomy.
The food is always solid. I've been going here for years, and I can say the food is certainly delish, and not only for 'califonia roll' lovers only. In fact, I hate California rolls, I'm a fan of the Spicy Tuna rolls and they are good.
The lunch specials are great, and you get a nice amount of food for the money.
The servers have all been friendly, attentive and on the ball. I'll keep going back.
This place is ok, but do yourself a favor and drive the extra 2km to junction sushi. I can make better rolls in my kitchen. If you're hungry and this is your only option, that's cool, but if you buy sushi from The Superstore, you'll be getting nicer stuff. There you go.
The ambience sucks at this place, it needs an update. It's a sushi place not a Binos. Service is good, the food is alright. Very North American style plates, for those who don't know much and only order california rolls you'll like this place. I'll probably go there again, and keep the order simple.
Every time I walk into this place I notice the service sucks bad. The one waitress always seems like the grumpiest person ever, she doesn't want to be there. There are some younger girls working there that have more of a pleasant way about them. The Sushi is good, fancy rolls, similar to Shinobi style sushi. All though every time I go to this place and if I order the same items, they are differently prepared. Sometimes better, sometime not. Either way, it's a pretty good place, expensive, but good. The service needs a revamp big time, put a happy face on it honey.
This would be my favorite Chinese food place but I have food them to not be as good as the Prawn Garden when it comes to consistence of the different dishes... I do LOVE their portion sizes though and there food is still really good, just some dishes are better then others.
Good Chinese food, I have ordered many times and the consistence is great! The Sinapore Chow Mein is great if you like spicy and flavorful! I also always order the Szechuan ginger beef, spicy but my three year old can handle it so I think you can too ;) very yummy!
Embers cooks up some of the best food in Mission. We had them cater our wedding in July and were impressed by the quality and freshness of the food and the superb service. Everything was delicious, and they delivered and helped set it all up on schedule, easing the stress of our busy day. If you like BBQ I would recommend Embers for catering and for Dine in. Their pulled pork is to die for!
This is a fantastic restaurant to check out. Everything is under $20.00 and includes a soft drink, coffee, or tea. Upgrading to a beer, wine, or cocktail is only $2.00 for your first drink when having any dinner item! (Can't beat that anywhere!). The burgers are loaded with flavor. The Calamari is the best we've ever eaten....very nice, lightly breaded, with an amazing garlic-packed tzatziki to boot! Our steak neptune entree came with fresh, warm bread and butter, choice of soup, ceasar, or tossed salad, and our entree which had a million options with it as well! Fantastic! 5 Stars! Tell your friends!
Poor Nat, he must be so ashamed of what white spot has become. It used to be a good solid place to eat, but now its just awful (. the food is VERY bad and the price is through the roof. The service is also poor and the restaurant is run by 16 year olds...what happened??
My husband and I were meeting his brother at this Boston Pizza about a month ago, and while we waited, my husband decided to have a beer. My husband's drink came with a mug that had been shattered on one side. Luckily he noticed prior to cutting his lips, but shards of glass may have been in the drink. We immediately told the waitress. She took it away promptly, but not replacing the drink and sadly we were not reimbursed the cost of the drink from this misfortune. My husband joked saying he would have at least finished it, had he known he was paying for it all anyway. The waitress was gracious, but I assume that her manager did not do anything to reimburse, thus no follow up was conducted. We are not the type to complain......My husbands brother unfortunately got the locations mixed up so we had to leave to meet him anyways, so no food experience at this time. But I have to mention that in a hurry of rushing out, I had left my daughters asthma medication at the table. The bag has a contact form and the waitress promptly called to inform us it was there!!! Thank you to the waitress for going above and beyond in doing this. It helped us a lot.
Free wifi and great prices. The space is a little cramped but if it is a nice day you could eat outside. I would meet a client here for business, not as busy as starbucks and a good location if you are from the area.
Oh and if you are a Gelato lover (I am) they have around 12 flavours.
Well i didnt like the pizza...it wasnt cooked, the dough was mushy, unedible. BUT they replaced the pizzas and brought 2 more right away. and thery were fine :) East Indian fellows. The service was really good. My experiance was just a fluke i guess. Wont go back sisner i discovered Petes, but hey..
