We were going to this place on a fairly regular basis until today when the service we received was appallingly bad. They open their doors for business at 1130am and we arrived at noon. There was no waitress/hostess in sight but a cook was working in the kitchen. We stood for about two minutes before the manager came out from the back and told us to sit anywhere. We did and after about ten minutes no one had come to take our drink orders. We got up to leave, and saw the sole waitress out on the patio cleaning up garbage and smoking. The manager was on the phone (no doubt a personal call) and then tried to get us to stay. Too little far too late. He knew we were there and he knew the waitress was still outside. Instead of either calling her to come serve us, or at least getting our drink order started himself, he made a phone call and expected us to just sit and march to their tune. Bad form Portobello's. You know we WERE regulars and we are done. And we ALL know you are never busy or full, so good luck in the future if this is how you treat your customers. P.S. This is after we already gave them a second chance for lousy service in the past.
Went to Portabello’s for a little anniversary dinner as a family. The restaurant was busy but a normal Friday dinner crowd. After waiting more than an hour our food finally arrived but they got the order wrong. We talked with the waitress to say that an hour was a little ridiculous to wait for our meals. She rudely answered back that it wasn’t fast food and an hour was “typical”. The manager was more apologetic and offered us a complimentary dessert. We went to crack into the crunchy top of the crème brule it was liquid. We asked the waitress why and she explained that they bought them premade and the hard top gets soft sitting in the fridge. Slow premade food served by rude staff, I won’t be going to Portabello’s ever again.
