We recently swung by the newly renovated Billy Miner Pub. We didn't eat but had a few bev'ies and a look at their new food menu. Looking good guys! Moderately priced and a huge selection. Will definately go back to check out the $5.00 weekend omelette special. The service was good and the ambiance a HUGE improvement. Glad to see those yucky old sofas replaced with comfy leather chairs. Long overdue and very refreshing!! They used to have a whicked Sunday nite jam and I hope to see them incorporate it again into the recent changes. Looks like your on the right track peeps!! We'll definately be returning. Keep up the good work!! Cheers!! :)))

went there twice in one week-once on a Monday and then again on a Saturday. Reno's are great, good atmosphere and clean. Good Monday night drink specials. the food however I find is not that great. the fries are deff frozen and not even dressed up to look like anything better. the worst clubhouse I have ever had,and the boneless chicken wings on special on Monday are chicken strips...Saturday tried the maple glazed salmon appy-not what I expected and not very easy to assemble. Lunch partner said the burger was ok,fries were awful. dont expect the food to match the atmosphere.

Over the years my husband and I have tried every sushi restaraunt in Maple Ridge, many more than once. Shinobi has easily moved to the top of the list and become our favourite. The quality and presentation of the sushi are top notch and are what bring us back time and time again. My only complaint is that the servers are rather slow and uninterested.

Hit and miss
By buteman of Maple Ridge, BC (1 Review)

As a Maple Ridge resident, I've visited Fox's numerous times over the years, both the restaurant side when accompanied by kids, and the pub side.

The pub has been recently renovated and the layout and decor are nice. It's bright and airy and the large fake tree in the former smoking area has been removed, which opens it up even more.

Now the not so good. I have always found the service to be very hit and miss. It's either excellent or verging on non-existent. My last visit was the latter. Likewise the food. I've never thought their menu was exceptional but could usually find something that appealed. There have been quite a few changes to the menu, with some long-standing items no longer available, and quite a few new 'trendy' items added in their place, not necessarily an improvement.

My last visit was a few weeks ago, on a Friday, arriving just a few minutes past noon. There were 2 of us, and we found the pub almost empty, with only 3 or 4 tables with other patrons. Our server was relatively prompt at taking our drink orders. We ordered lunch at approxmately 12;20; one order of 'halibut and chips' (more on that to follow), and one burger. We waited, and waited, and waited some more... finally nearly 1 PM I managed to flag down our server (who had ignored us since we put in our food order) and asked why it was taking so long for our food to arrive. the response 'the computer is down and the orders weren't getting to the kitchen'. WHAAT?? Here's a suggestion - write it down and hand it to them. I was quite incredulous that this was actually offered up as a valid reason. We were assured that our food would be arriving shortly, and then were given 2 appetizer vouchers for the inconvenience (only to be used at a later date), but no offer to reduce our lunch bill due to the ridiculously long wait. Our food arrived at about 1;15. It should be pointed out that there were still a lot of empty tables, few diners, and nothing like one would expect to see at a pub on a Friday lunchtime.

Now to the food. The burger was typical, and what one would expect at a pub. I suspect the patties are frozen, not freshly made in-house - it had that 'formed' look to it. The halibut and chips were probably the worst I have ever had. When one expects fresh halibut (it was in season) and homemade fries, it was a huge disappointment to get tiny, thin rectangular pieces of battered fish. Halibut? who knows. I hope so, since that's what it said on the menu. Whatever it was, I actually think it came out of a Captain Highliner box. It had no resemblance at all to fresh halibut with a homemade batter. The fries were nothing to write home about, thin shoestring style. They seemed made from frozen too. It was a complete waste of money.

I will go back to Fox's to use up the 2 appetizer vouchers, but after years of having very inconsistent food and service, it will probably be my last time.

The Worst Keg ever!

I have to say that the Maple Ridge Keg is the worst I have ever been to.
I have been three times.
The 1st was so bad I wrote the district manager to let him know about my experience.
The staff, which is usually outstanding at the Keg, in this one is not. They are unprofessional bordering on ridiculous.
If you are used to expecting the best from the Keg, then this is not the one to visit.
I would recommend it be avoided.
Maple Ridge has other much better steak houses.

Went to Shinobi for the first time yesterday and was very impressed by the food, but two seperate orders of sushi that we ordered had hair in it. Fortunately we were not charged for this food but you can make your own opinion about going here based on this. Call this a coincidence or not but it was quite unappetizing.

If you are looking for some excellent Japanese Cuisine in Maple Ridge, this is the place to go! Offering eat in or take out, Sushihiro is great. From beginning to end, the experience is great. Greeted at the door by the majority of the staff, seated quickly, and service always with a smile. Once ordered your meal is to you quickly and efficiently. Always the freshest ingredients and a comprehensive menu complete with alcohol. Everytime, I am impressed with the service.

Give their Miso Soup a shot! Recommendations are the Dragon Roll and the Teriyaki.

My friends and I stopped by for a bite to eat after catching a matinee. It was a beautiful say and we sat on the back patio because it was just too nice to stay inside. I liked that the deck was glass-covered and had a separate, enclosed smoking area. There were tons of fireplaces, so the space can be used all year round.

The whole establishment is clean and tidy, right down to the staff, who are very friendly, albeit a tad inattentive and forgetful at times. Everyone was polite and nicely dressed, which elevates the restaurant to a high-end pub feel. Bathrooms are extremely clean and even have a small lounge area.

The food was definitely more upscale than you standard pub grub, but the prices were very reasonable. $36 for a bottle of Seven Deadly Zins is a very good price. We shared some blue cheese flatbread (yum!), pulled pork sliders on soft heavy buns (amazing!), burgers, salads, etc. I had the Greek salad for an entree and found it fresh, delicious, and well-portioned.

We'll be back.

I have eaten at Frogstone at least a dozen times in past 3 years. Service always, prompt, friendly, helpful and reliable. Food always good and have many creative dishes and presentations.

Value is very good. Appies are large servings.

Atmosphere is a little unique and the do well in playng on the frog theme. Positive and pleasant. Must be kid-friendly judging by number of families with kids dining.

Have also disappointed to see some menu items disappear such as the nachos which were a favourite. Even so, menu is diverse enough to have lots to choose from.

Parking is good in the strip mall location.

I will keep going back and recommending to others.

The food is great! The deep-fried mozza appy with seafood sauce is incredible. The steaks and pastas are great. Veal is great. Yes, it is busy and bustling. But that is only because people are lining up to get in.

Service can take a while but is always courteous and helpful. Portions are huge and staff does not leave you feeling bad if you split a meal.

Paliottis seems to know who they are and what they provide. And they provide it consistently.

Ambiance? Well... what can you say? It is a family-owned Italian steak, seafood, and pasta place. Its lively and the decor is a little dated. So what. You get what it is. So best to set your expectations accordingly. Owner has come out a number of times and chatted with patrons. Nice guy.

I'll keep going back.

Untrained and rude staff

I have given lots of business to the Dairy Queen 20492 Lougheed Highway. No more.

Their staff, especially the drive through staff, are untrained, discourteous, and rude. They consistently act as if they are being inconvenienced. They act intolerant of any questions or requests. Or just ignore. Fast food restaurants staffed by teenagers need not provide poor service. This one does. I hope the owers care.

I have also observed the staff slop together menu items in a rushed fashion. The service I experienced is a discredit to the Dairy Queen name. I will go to the other location on 224th from now on. Then again, maybe the joke is on me if it is the same owner.

Never the less, the staff needs to grow up. Sorry for the trouble.

Disappointing
By mia of Maple Ridge (21 Reviews)

So decided to order in a pizza for the first time in years. Dominos is closest, and I've heard all about their new improved pizza, so gave them a try.

Cheesy bread although hot, fresh, and well prepared, was completely flavourless, and the dipping sauce that came with it was bland, canned pizza sauce that you can buy for 49 cents at the grocery.

The pizza too was hot, but that is about the only positive thing I can say. Paper flat, and no taste whatsoever. I do not consider myself a pizza expert by any stretch, but I thought it was lousy, and cant help but wonder what it was like before? Ouch.

$26 including tip was too high for the quality.

Solid for ambience based on the fact you can order online, and the delivery girl was nice and pleasant.

NOT recommended.

Having lived in Maple Ridge for 32 years I have seen the Billy Miner popularity rise and fall as a local watering hole and eatery. Some years ago with Bernice at the helm we spent many happy evenings here. Last year my wife and I walked out of the Billy Miner having waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged. We heard that new management had taken over. Yippee! A full parking lot and pub looked promising. The pleasant young wairtress took our order promptly. One quesadilla and a pound of wings took forty five minutes! The couple next to us got their order in ten minutes, a pound of wings and half a chicken! Let down again. Sorry Billy Miner. Maybe the next owners will get it right.

Took some friends here from out of town. We wanted something a little different and a little nicer than the average place. Food was excellented, and quite authentic with a nice sized menu to choose from. The decor is very greek, without being tacky, with the traditional colours of greece, blue and white. Very enjoyable evening, and one of the nicer restaurants in Maple Ridge.

Haven't been here in awhile, but thought I'd try them again. Haven't tried the pizza, but the pastas are little more than noodles thrown in with pizza sauce and some toppings covered with cheese... The garlic toast was good.

The prices are quite low here, but you basically get what you pay for. The food was edible, but doubt I'll be back, there are better places.

went there for the 'buffet' - what a HUGE a joke - a lot of money for canned salads/veggies and cold pizza. The waitress actually told us 'You have to be quick to get the goods' when the ribs and pizza came out. Unbelievable. We were there for an hour and only managed to 'grab' 3 pieces of pizza and a couple of ribs. NEVER will we go there again. The actual pizza you order is good, too bad the other part left a very sour taste in our mouths so therefore we will not return.

The only reason I haven't given it a higher rating is that the folks who own the Mission Springs Pub and Restaurant have just taken this place over and totally refreshed the place.
New everything in the decor and seating, new staff (the grouchy goof who used to own it is gone! yee haw) and they have new beverage selections and the food is totally being revamped.

We're looking forward to seeing the other changes they have in store and, knowing how the Mission Springs is, then this will be a great spot for some fun and food once again!
