My SO and I are addicted to pho soups and have just recently moved from Poco to Maple Ridge. We tried a couple of places in the area but were disappointed and were resigned to driving back to our favorite place in Poco to get our fix until I noticed Xuan Chi.
My SO was resistant as she is quite picky about soup but I finally dragged her in for a taste test. One spoonful was all it took to win her over! The broth is great, the portions plentiful and a large bowl averages $6.00.
The decor is subdued but nice and the staff are very friendly. We have a new place to get our soup fix, just a few blocks from home. Yum! (The salad rolls are great too.)
We've been going to this little Pub for 10 years now. We've gone through all of their changes, it's clean and comfortable, and has a great smoking section for the smokers out there that want to be able to have a drink with their smoke.
It's the friendliest Pub ever. Over the years, we have made very many good friends through this little Pub tucked away in Maple Ridge. Even to this day we meet new people here. People who are single and sitting alone, are not likely to be sitting alone for to long before a regular starts up a conversation with you. As well, the staff all know us by name, and they make a point of getting your name, so next time you come in, you will be greeted by your name.
Now, for the food, it's great and reasonably priced. For the most part, it is all made in their kitchen. They make the best homemade soups, and their burgers have a real patty, not some frozen puck. Oh my; you like Nachos, The Witch of Endor Pub is the place to go, but you need to bring someone with you to help you eat them, even the ½ order is huge. Fajita anyone, when someone orders this, the whole bar can smell them and want some. The best deals are on Wednesday $5.99 steak dinner, steak melts in your mouth, Saturdays, Eggs Benny for $2.99, Sundays, All Canadian Breakfast for $4.99.
As for drink specials, every day they have great drink specials, my favorites are Mondays: 3 Bud bottles in a bucket of ice for $11.99, Wednesday and Sundays: Double Ceasars for $5.75.
Let's not forget the Lions Meat Draw, Fridays: 5, 6, and 7pm and Sundays: 3, 4, and 5pm, $5.00 for a strip of 10 tickets, 6 – 7 prizes per draw, and meat comes from Costco, if you win, you win a prize worth $15-20 and they give you a bag to take it home in.
But, best of all is their awesome staff members, their charismatic Debbie, dynamic Woren, lovely Michelle, sweet Kayla and let's not forget the best bartender in town Jeff, who will all greet you with a true (not fake) smile, and serve you promptly and efficiently.
Cheers, to the Witch of Endor Pub, our friendly neighborhood pub in the heart of downtown Maple Ridge. I highly recommend you all check it out for yourselves.
Tried to order a pizza from the Haney place mall location on a friday night at 7:45 PM, and the clerk at the counter tells me they aren't making any more pizzas tonight because they close soon. They close at 9 PM according to their advertising. She told me to go to another location on Lougheed Hwy. Drove to the other location, this location wouldn't make the order either, saying they don't make pizzas in that size, even though it's right on the flyer. Walked out at this point.
Other visits to the mall location, I've seen the clerk spraying windex in the 'warmer' where the pizza is sitting to clean the glass, while the pizza is still in there....who knows how long it's been there. Would you like some ammonia with your pizza today...no thanks.
The staff at these locations seem to have an attitude about doing any form of work other than taking pizza out of the warmer and putting it on a paper plate, as if you are inconveniencing them so much for making them have to prepare something off of the actual menu. Don't bother with this place.
Arrived on a weekday morning. Took 15 from the time we were sat to get coffee and place our order. After that service was ok. It was not very busy and I was totally surprised at the number or single mothers in there dining with toddlers. At the prices they charge? That struck me as weird. If I ever took my toddlers out for breakfast it was usually to McDonalds not and expensive sit down.
First thing I noticed on the menu was that each entree was $3-4 more than any other breakfast place like Ricky's or Ihop. There were alot of choices but really only a couple of items interested me. I wanted a bene but read it came on some type of hard dry cracker thing - no thanks. So I had some type of Meixcan omeletee. It was a odd angled shape like it was formed in a mold- no chef skills required. The veggies inside were cooked properly but the cheese was not melted inside just a little sprinled on top. Plus it was that preshredded cheap food service cheese. Then it was topped with bottled salsa - yuk I scraped that off. It came with 2 tablespoons of sour cream. It tasted ok but nothing special and was kind of rubbery. The sourdough toast was very good, properly toasted and large pieces. The jams were the nice American style ones. The hasbrowns however were atrocious. They were sort of an opaque brown, not a crispy toasted brown but a sitting in discoloured oil brown. They tasted like old oil as well. What a disappointmen. I would say this meal might be worth $7.99 - it was $12.25. Whoa.
My husband had a hash pannekoek. It came with meat, veggies and cheese mixed up in the nasty hasbrowns so he could not pick them out. Also it came in a small white side dish that was placed directly on top of the pannekoek. GROSS. Who wants their food dishes on top of their food? He does not like hollandaise so asked for butter and syrup instead. He was informed that syrup was and extra $2.50 - are you kidding me? What breakfast place charges for syrup?? He opted out and ate a dry pancake. He was also underwhelmed. His was also $12.25.
Thank goodness we had a 2 for one coupon or we would have been pissed. It still came in at over $21 for breakfast with the coupon. Very poor value. We will not be back.
First of all Electra Pizza took Dinos phone number when Dino closed its door and when you call to order it is not clear that you are not phoning Dinos.
Second the Greek Salad had soft, rotten cucumbers and onions that were brown.
Third, we had asked for dressing on the side and after being assured that they always do that, the Greek Salad we got was literally drowning in oil.
Went for the first time and was very impressed with the decor and the staff. Food was amazing, the sushi was excellent and the miso was nice and hot.
The service could of been better, they tended to leave empty plates on the table and we had to ask for more beverages. But over all amazing and will be going again soon.
This establishment in the Ceter of Maple Ridge has been here for a long time. The atmosphere is very relaxed and personal. I have been here several times for lunch and a couple of times for dinner.
The Paella is great to share with a group and it has a lot of different types of seafood as well as some pork medallions. The pork and clams is another favorite and the pork has a great white wine flavor from a long marinade. Our must have is the quail that comes in a rich spice sauce. The sauce alone is worth a visit.
The secret ingredient for many dishes are light crispy fried potatoes. I can't figure out how the are cooked but they are always cooked perfectly.
The owner and staff are attentive and friendly but without any great sense of urgency. My portuguese friends recommended this place to me and they say it is quite authentic.
Apparently was just recently renovated, new carpets and new walls.
When we entered the pub the staff nearly attacked us with their greetings. Every staff member was eager to introduce us to their pub.
Great Specials and Features. Everything home made!
We had their delicious beefed up beef dip, had crispy onions and mushrooms and swiss cheese on a crispy baguette......Amazing!
Everything from the great, freindly staff, clean pub that wreaks of atmosphere and great live music performances, to the delicious fresh food was amazing.
It was fantastic how proud the staff are of their establishment.
The prices were very affordable, and when we had left the pub we had made atleast 2 new freinds.
I often go here for a quick beer after work, and each time I sit at the bar I make a new freind, a true social house!
I would recommend heading down to the Witch where every visit seems to get better!
I Ate at Electra pizza a long time ago and it was great food but shitty ambiance back then. The place was closed for years for a long overdue renovation and when I saw it was reopened I decided to give it a try again. Well the food is probably the best food I have had in ridge. The pizza is awesome and loaded with toppings and nice kinda thin crust. I also had a spinach salad that was delicious. My girlfriend had the Caesar salad which has home made fantastic dressing. The server said if we didn't like the Caesar salad she would buy us our meal. She was right! Also the Greek souvlaki is fantastic and so are the fries. As for the ambiance, everything is modern and new. They have a dining room on one side and a more casual lounge on the other with a beautiful fireplace, and about 10 big screen tv's to watch sports or anything else I suppose. They also deliver so I will deffinately try that. Whoever wrote the one bad review must have been their competitor or something. Lol.
I was visiting family on a Sunday in Maple Ridge and went to Electra Pizza at the recommendation of friends who live in the area. Joined by a friend from Coquitlam, I feel I can speak on his behalf, and say we were both delightfully surprised at the modern decor that was extremely comfortable - it felt like a little piece of Tribeca (or for those less travelled - a little piece of Yaletown) right there in Maple Ridge- minus the attitude. Our server greeted us right away and made such excellent recommendations, I felt obliged to try almost everything she suggested. I had the Chicken Quesadilla while my friend had the Chicken Wings (we were quiet adventurous) and we shared the Electra Special Pizza, but I will definitely be back to try the ribs someone ordered at the next table. Our food was great and our server checked with us at appropriate times throughout our experience. Our server was attentive but not annoying, the setting was perfect and the price was affordable. Perfect place for those visiting or living in Maple Rigde who think that Cactus Club, Joeys and Earls were "so five years ago" and detest the commute/parking/and pricing in the rest of the GVRD. Electra Pizza is a place I would feel comfortable entertaining my clients, watching the game, having drinks with the girls, or possibly on a date?! Go try it for yourself!
This place will certianly not win any awards, nor does it stack anywhere in the vicinity of its great cousins like Sun Sui Wah or Kiran....however, for $6.66 (tax-in) for lunch specials, what more can you ask for? First off, the place is CLEAN and well-run (spotted: patrons bearing Fraser Health "Health Inspector" jackets and badges getting food). Their Singapore-style noodles are quite tasty and are enough to feed more than a few people. In fact, for a total of $77, I was part of a party of 12 that ate well, with enough for leftovers. The owner is super-nice. The staff can be run-off their feet, but are warm enough. No, this place will not be featured in the Georgia Straight, but it beats any mall food court!
I visited this new spot for a quick weekend lunch. I enjoyed a started Tom Yum Goong, and the lunch special green curry. The food was fresh, hot and there was a decent amount of it that I was able to save for lunch tomorrow! From what I saw on the plates of other people, the portions are generous. I heard a steady stream of "it's delicious" when the courteous proprietor did his rounds of the tables.
It is a very tiny spot; it can fit maybe 10-12 people, so perhaps be prepared to wait or switch to take-out when this place inevitably becomes very popular and busy!
I've been here a few times for take-out and for the buffet once. I appreciate the good selection of delicious vegetarian options, as I ususally do with Indian food in general. Their samosas are excellent, with a price point that I appreciate and that is in-line with other places. I brought a big bag of them to a party recently that was met with great enthusiasm!
What sticks out to me here is the very nice and appreciative staff. I enjoy the comfortable and eager small talk whenever I go in, whether the topic is world travel, vegetarianism, or the Canucks!
I love the food here...have to agree with the previous poster. that they are abit pricey for Maple Ridge and the decor isnt greatest...plus the chairs need to go....they are by far the worst restaurant chairs I have ever sat in. Even with the bad decor and chairs...the service is great, the food is excellent. I highly recommend them over any other Greek place in Maple Ridge and even the surrounding communites, like poco, mission etc.
We grab take out once every few weeks and this place has the best and more importantly most consistent sushi in Maple Ridge.
We recently had a student from Japan staying with us and she said it was Awesome as well for what its worth.
A little pricey but most good sushi is.
This place is open later for food than most places in Maple Ridge. One of the newest, cleanest pubs in town, located in East Maple Ridge. This place is ALWAYS busy!! The beer is always cold and fresh, the service is Always good. Well run establishment. Not bad food for the price! I think it depends on the cook working in the kitchen at night, but I've had a few really decent meals there.
I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a local establishment to kick back in. Or even pop in for lunch!
The staff are always really friendly here, seems to have a real "local" vibe about it. As an outsider it's almost like watching an episode of "cheers" Maple Ridge style.
The food is decent for pub grub. Not a bad place to grab a burgar, fries and a cold beer . Easy parking & location. Open for food until later. (11pm?) Recent renovations make it comfortable to sit in.
The food was quite poor. I found the chow mein to be gummy and bland. The rice much the same. The prawns tasted as though the oil was in need of changing. The almond gai ding had no chicken in it. And the beef with black pepper tasted like a burnt pot. A real waste of $50.00.
I love to go here for sandwiches, custom made to order. Deli style food.....this is what his place is, a deli. (it is also a great place to purchase fresh fish and local groceries if your in need!!)
The staff here is always friendly, a real family feeling type of place. It is casual, and they offer dinner specials in the evening. Very home style comfort food. One of the better places in Maple Ridge for casual afternoon/lunch eats.
I'm not a big fan of sushi but they have something for everyone! The Crunchy Rolls are amazing! The owners and staff are very friendly they actually know us by name now that we are there so often haha. Great little place. By far the best place in Maple Ridge, and even the lower mainland.
