Went for the first time and was very impressed with the decor and the staff. Food was amazing, the sushi was excellent and the miso was nice and hot.
The service could of been better, they tended to leave empty plates on the table and we had to ask for more beverages. But over all amazing and will be going again soon.
We grab take out once every few weeks and this place has the best and more importantly most consistent sushi in Maple Ridge.
We recently had a student from Japan staying with us and she said it was Awesome as well for what its worth.

I have been supporting this business for about 3 years now. You can tell they enjoy what they do, and they are having fun doing it. You can pretty much guarantee you're going to get the same sushi quality and taste every time you go to this restaurant. I've been to every sushi place around Maple Ridge, I have also been to Japan. You can say Japanese food is one of my favorites in life.
I have had a few recent mishaps at Shinobi that made me take a break from this beloved sushi joint. I ordered their version of the Hot Night Roll, It has 2 shrimp tempura in the roll. I also ordered a shrimp tempura order. I noticed the shrimp was not de-veined. There was gunk all over the place. When I pulled out the vein, it was like I had to wash my hands before I could eat. Gross to say the least. Make sure your shrimp is de-veined! I also may have found a fruit fly on my Alaska roll, that was a little gross. Also maybe a hair once too. 3 in at least 100 orders that I wasn't happy. Still a solid choice. Don't go to those other Hack Sushi joints in Maple Ridge, you'll thank me.
I have been to this sushi place many times and it didn't disappoint me ever! Sushi and sashimi are very fresh. Rolls are full and not to much rice.
Last time we went for our company Christmas dinner and ordered Deluxe Sushi and Sashimi party tray.
Everything was excellent. Sashimi was extraordinary fresh and moist.
I will come here again and again.
Ever their service is pretty good (unlike many other Japanese and Asian places). The waitress smiled and was quite polite.

The only complaint I have is their benches, quite uncomfortable, but I guess it's their traditional stuff.
Over the years my husband and I have tried every sushi restaraunt in Maple Ridge, many more than once. Shinobi has easily moved to the top of the list and become our favourite. The quality and presentation of the sushi are top notch and are what bring us back time and time again. My only complaint is that the servers are rather slow and uninterested.
Went to Shinobi for the first time yesterday and was very impressed by the food, but two seperate orders of sushi that we ordered had hair in it. Fortunately we were not charged for this food but you can make your own opinion about going here based on this. Call this a coincidence or not but it was quite unappetizing.
