On behalf of the Sea Shanty Fish n Chips, we would like to thank our valued customers for showing us the support and love for the long 12 years our family has put in to this establishment, We would also like to thank Mike, the previous owner, for keeping us in line and trying so hard to keep the dream alive! Sea Shanty closed it's doors mid February :( We are deeply saddened by the circumstances and we will keep everyone up to date as to if and when we will reopen. (still in process) You never know what the future holds! We wish all the best to our customers for that is what you all wished for us :D We would love to hear from you! please email us at seashantyfishandchips@gmail.com
We've had Sooooo many inspiring and grateful emails from some of our re-occuring customers, we would love to hear many more! Express your thoughts on the sea shanty and why you think we should or shouldn't re-open.
Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather!!!!
From all of us at The Sea Shanty!

Best Fish & Chips in town

I have lived in Maple Ridge for 30 years (through a few ownership changes I am sure) and I can remember eating at the sea shanty more than 20 years ago. I was always confused as to why they had a roof inside.

Anyways I eat there probably once a month sometimes I grab it to go and sometimes I eat in. Always good Halibut & Chips. The homemade tartar sauce is great, the gravy is good and you can get the fries with salt or without which is nice as well.

They have added lots of other deep fried items as well even things like snickers bars and stuff like that but its not my thing and I have never tried anything other than the Fish & Chips.

Its licensed as well if your looking for a mid day beer.

Way to expensive for greasy Fish 'n Chips

Voted #1 fish and chips? I guess Maple Ridge has very low standards for good fish "n chips, or else they don't have many Fish "n Chip establishments. Although it tasted good and the fish was cooked well, it was totally dripping with oil. I also found it very expensive. Lunch for 2 for $33 and no drink, that's overboard. I just moved to Maple Ridge from greater vancouver area, i think its going to be tough to find a good fish "n chips joint.

My wife and I stopped at the Sea Shanty and ordered the 5 piece with chips and it was fantastic! We read the poor reviews by others and decided to go anyway and try it out, man are we glad we did! The fish was great, the batter was a little tough but not too bad, totally NOT greasy and the homemade tartar sauce was phenominal! All in all it was a great meal with super friendly staff and totally worth the $35 we paid.
Will we go again? Without a doubt!

Disappointment

I just started working in Maple Ridge so I have been trying a few places. I had a craving for fish and chips so I read a few reviews and decided to go to Sea Shanty.

If I'm going to consume that many calories I want it to be worth it. I oredered the 2 peice Halibit and chips. total with tax $16.63 with no beverage. I can't be sure but it did not seem like the fish that arrived was halibut. It didn't taste bad but it did not have the texture of halibut. It was cooked well. The fries were hand cut but I would say slighty underdone although golden so maybe the oil is too hot.

The tartar sauce was good but the ketchup was not so that is strange as it costs more to make good tartar sauce but you don't save that much on cheap Ketchup.

If I'd paid 12 I probably would have been happy enough but at $17 I was definately dissappointed.

The sole employee was friendly and helpful.
