This is a Steak and Seafood restaurant with a good variety of Italian Past/Pizza/BBQ dishes, as well as favourites like fried chicken and burgers, etc. It was established in 1979 and was so successful, they eventually took over the 2nd floor and started The Look-Out Restaurant, which offers an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Always at jims the pizza isnt cooked enough. The crust when cooked properly, i.e ...EVA's is awesome . Dry cured pepperoni would be a major improvement over the cheap bologna style pepperoni,it ruins otherwise a great pie.The cheese blend needs less edam, too buttery and more mozza.Simple fix , but care and attention to quality must always be paid.
This restaurant has been an institution (since i was a child) but hadn't gone to Jim's until 3 months ago for the buffet. Our kids just loved the macaroni salad, scallop potatos, lasagna, and just about everything else. I have three teenage boys, so it was a bargain... And as an added bonus I didn't need to cook! Thank you Jim's Pizza, We will be back on my next Mom's night off!
When I saw the restaurant from the outside I instantly assumed dining there wouldn't be a pleasant experience. Almost suggested going elseshere but since we drove 30 minutes and were already there we decided to stay. Even when we walked in I did not feel welcome because one of the staff was not friendly. The blonde glanced our way and gave us a cold look, but lucky for us the buffet was upstairs. Downstairs is more like a diner where you order from the regular menu.
Now onto the buffet. All I can say is Wow! This is what food is supposed to taste like. If it's fine dining you're into or if you are high maintenance, do not go. But if you're after delicious down home cooking at good prices, this is the place. Salad bar was fresh. Moving onto the hot food, there was the most excellent lasagna, with the perfect tomato meat sauce. The creamy potato casserole with bacon or ham had such a unique flavour and was scrumptious. Fried chicken was excellent, as were the giant BBQ beef ribs..but the pizza..I'm still thinking about the pizza! The sauce was perfect, crust (similar to pan pizza at Pizza Hut) was wonderful. Pepperoni was tasty. No skimping on toppings. Simply pizza perfection! I regret living so far since they only deliver locally. They even "guarantee the best tasting pizza that money can buy". After tasting it, I had to agree it was the best. Dessert bar could be improved. Lots of cakes, pies, etc. Nothing I usually eat, but they did have lots of fresh fruit which I enjoyed such as watermelon, kiwi, grapes, pineapple, etc.
Place was clean but decor is dated. Apparently, lots of movies were filmed there so maybe they keep it that way on purpose. I have no regrets. Not even when the blonde girl gave us another look on the way out. In fact, I will be a regular customer now since the food is satisfying, the prices fair and the service good.
went there for the 'buffet' - what a HUGE a joke - a lot of money for canned salads/veggies and cold pizza. The waitress actually told us 'You have to be quick to get the goods' when the ribs and pizza came out. Unbelievable. We were there for an hour and only managed to 'grab' 3 pieces of pizza and a couple of ribs. NEVER will we go there again. The actual pizza you order is good, too bad the other part left a very sour taste in our mouths so therefore we will not return.
My family and I have lived in Maple Ridge, on and off, for the last forty years. After a brief stint in Langley, we moved back to Maple Ridge about 2 years ago. And I have to say, one of the things I missed most was Jim's Pizza! I've been eating this pizza since probably 1982, and it has always been the best pizza I can find.
Admittedly, we usually order for delivery, though sometimes we'll pick up, and lately we've been trying out the buffett on the weekends. I was picking up a couple of months ago and mentioned to the girl that I had been eating there since longer than she had probably been alive, but had never eaten inside the restaurant! Well that's changed, and the buffet is great. There's a good variety of food, and the price is very reasonable. The whole family enjoys it.
As I said, the food is just beyond description. You can tell when everything is made with care and thought. It's crafted, not just assembled. Service is usually very good. My one complaint is that sometimes deliveries take awhile on the weekends, but I'd rather eat at a busy restaurant than one no one wants to go to! I do wish the girls on the phone would be a bit more accurate with time estimates, but I've come to know how long it'll take, so I don't really pay much attention now!
The decor inside is pretty dated. It's definitely changed a lot since 1982, but maybe not so much in the last few years. At the same time, everything is clean, and it's a very comfortable place. My kids are more used to the slick trendy decor, but for me, I don't mind some nice wood panelling now and again!
If you haven't tried it, try it! You will not taste a better pizza in your life!!
We went out for dinner with some friends last week and were totally wowed. There were only a few tables, but the phones were ringing off the hook, so looks like these guys do a lot of take away business-- and no wonder! We ordered a couple of pizzas and a lasagna to share and it was amazing. You can definitely tell everything's house-made, as they claim in the menu. Started with a Greek salad which was the best I've ever had. So good we bought a bottle of the dressing to take home. Definitely not modern decor and the waitress was busy, but she was friendly and refilled our drinks all night. Too bad it's in Maple Ridge. Kits could really use a place like this!
The service sucks here BIG TIME!!. The male onwer is one of the rudest men I've seen. I was eating there and a customer had a complaint and he just started yelling back at the customer and told him to leave(which he did) and the way he yells at his staff in front of customers is unreal. The food was cold-but after seeing what I saw I wasn't goin to complain. I just payed and left and will never go back again- alot of my friends have had the same experince - even with the servers there. He treated them so badly that I guess no one stays - there's always a new server.
No a lot of places have vegetarian lasagna in town so we've been going back again and again for it. We usually order pizza with it. My husband loves their pizza. I prefer panago myself I find it too greasy but he LOVES it. SO to each their own.
When we pick up an order you have to park around back as the street parking is usually taken. The place inside is a dive and I don't like to eat in.
Without a doubt, these guys serve the best pizza I have ever eaten. When we have family over from out of town, we always end up ordering from Jim's, just to show off how good the food is! Normally, we order for delivery, but sometimes we'll go and eat at the buffet, or just order off the menu.
Whatever we choose - pizza, pasta, ribs - we're always satisfied with the quality of the food we get. Occassionally there might be a problem, like a forgotten pop or salad on the delivery, but we've never had any trouble getting it resolved, and considering how often we order, that's saying something!
Some of our friends have found the pizzas to be a little pricey, but we always figure that you pay for the quality. If I wanted crackers and ketchup, I'd go to one of those cheap chains, but since I want real food, I order from Jim's.
