pretty decent all you can eat -considering

My wife and I tried the all you can eat dinner a few weeks ago. It was around $21 per person. The ayce menu is not really that extensive and I would have rathered driven to Shabusen in Vancouver, but oh well. At least it was better than Sui Sha Ya in Coquitlam.

The restaurant used to be either a greek or italian restaurant, as I don't remember seeing very many Michaelangelo's "Creation" in other Japanese restaurants. ;-) The restaurant is very clean and actually quite romantic.

Now on the most important part - the food. I thought the rice for the Cali rolls, and nigiri sushi were a bit on the hard side, but the fish appeared to be very fresh. Sashimi was limited to 8?? pieces per person, didn't really matter as neither my wife or I really like it that much. We did order 6 salmon sashimi, and when it came out the fish was sliced so thin, you could actually read a book through it. I thought was kinda cheap. Everything else, like the tempura, teriyaki, chicken kaarage came out nice and hot. Like I said early, the selection is not great here, but what food they served was decent.

Service was good too, didn't really have to flag the personnel down too much, for refills of water, ordering more food, etc, like other ayce restaurants. They actually brought everything that I had ordered. Plates are on the small side, but you can just order more if you want.

My only pet peeve about this place is that kids 2 and OVER eat for $14.95, but under 2 was free. We had our 22 month son with us and although he has a good appetite, there's no way that he is going to eat $15 bucks worth of food. We didn't have to pay anyways, as he is under 2, but come on now. Other ayca restaurants don't usually charge until the child is around 4 and even then, it is usually a percentage of the cost by age.

I think that management should seriously reconsider their policy about this. Other than that, I would recommend it to other people if you are in the area.

This place has yet to dissapoint. The all you can eat is a good value and like many other places it is not Japanese food cooked by Koreans. As the 1st poster mentioned the decor is unusal for a Japanese restaurant . This place used to be a really great Italian pasta place ... I still miss it. Though I think the new owners are a wonderful addtion to our local restaurants. We have quite a few Japanese restaurants in the Ridge/ Meadows area and I feel this one is the best. The service is super friendly though obviously not professional. The fish is always fresh. I would recommend it ... and have

I've been here three times for dinner as I work close by and stayed in the area for a ball game later those evenings.
Don't know what to say - was never impressed but never disappointed. I have gone back twice so it wasn't terrible. There are definitely better sushi restaurants in the lower mainland but I'm unfamiliar with Maple Ridge. Sorry this review isn't all that helpful - I'll say don't rush out or travel very far to stop in here - but if you're close by it's not bad.

We recently moved from the West End to Pitt Meadows and are searching for the best sushi restaurant in the area. We go to Hokkaido fairly frequently, and are never disappointed. The cold food is fresh and cooked food hot. Service is friendly and fairly fast.

Below, someone mentioned rice being dry. That seems to have been corrected. We have found the food actually getting better in the last 6 months. The rice has been really fresh and they added scallops maki to the menu.

And I actually find the selection quite good. I wish they had unagi nigiri (they only include a nigiri cone), but other than that all the basics are there. Good tempura and we love there seafood yakisoba.
