The food was quite poor. I found the chow mein to be gummy and bland. The rice much the same. The prawns tasted as though the oil was in need of changing. The almond gai ding had no chicken in it. And the beef with black pepper tasted like a burnt pot. A real waste of $50.00.
We got takeout and the food was acceptable, but a bit bland.
The portion sizes were small for a chinese food place, but the prices were the same as other restaurants.
The sweet and sour pork was good. It wasn't too sugary, and you could actually taste the sour. The chicken chowmein and beef and broccoli chop suey didn't have any sauce on them, although the B&B chop suey didn't need any.
We will continue to shop around for chinese food in the area, but might go back in the future.
Not great food. Took an 1.5 hours to get to my house (they told me 45 mins), and the person who took my order was totally rude, as if she were doing me a favour for taking my order. The second woman that answered the phone when I called to inquire about the lateness was even worse. Meh, I think I'll take my business somewhere else.
While I have never been in the restaurant itself. My experience with the Haney Dragon is excellent. Their food is worth every penny. I always order my chinese for delivery and every time is on time and accurate. Great egg rolls, but the term roll is lost on them. Its more like a battered fist of egg roll awesomeness, these are not your store bought and batter fried egg rolls.
There Pineapple Sweet and Sour Pork is well worth it. Other chinese food restaurants would give clumps of pork in weak and thin Sweet and Sour sauce, not the Haney Dragon. Their Sweet and Sour is thick and clings to the Pork. Great portions!
Not to mention these guys are fast! I live not far from these guys. They quote me 30 minutes most of the time I am answering the door in 20 minutes and the food is still VERY hot. Don't forget to ask for Chop Sticks.
The Haney Dragon offers a daily lunch special for under $5.00 which means a large plate of very well prepared food. Our favorite is the chow mein, chicken balls,& chop suey. The vegetables are so crisp. The orders are taken quickly & the food arrives piping hot. Lunches can also be ordered to take out. There is a personal touch to the service because the owner is the hostess & the server. She truly believes in service with a smile!!! They offer a great selection at dinnertime --- prepared with the same expertise. They also have round tables for large groups & are able to prepare a terrific chinese feast for parties. We urge you to celebrate at the Haney Dragon --- we know you will be glad you did.
It's hard to review chinese sit down restaurants when there are so many offering the same menu or dishes.
Having been to the Haney Dragon Chinese Restaurant a number of times attests to the difference that this family owned business offers.
When dealing with sit down chinese restaurants, you are usually dealing with the same type of menu, same Canadian-Chinese dishes, with service, ambiance and quality the only factors that set each restaurant apart.
With the "Haney", the service is by far the most outstanding I have ever encountered at a sit down Chinese restaurant. Friendly, fast and unrushed is the best way to decribe the service here. My experience at other Chinese restaurants is usually to encounter a "rushed" sense of service. This is simply not the case here. Each time I have been here, whether it has been with a small group or a large one, the service has always been friendly and unhurried, but quick at the same time. Leaving you with gettingyour food hot and fast, without feeling that you have bothered the waitress with your patronage.
I have been here with small children too and the staff are very accomodating in terms of fetching high chairs and booster seats, in addition to creating a small dish of kid-friendly menu items - no spicy squid with salt here!
The food quality is above average, top notch standard Chinese fare. The option of leaving MSG out is a welcome addition to the menu choices for those that are sensitive to it.
The restuarant is clean and almost always slow to moderately busy.
They've got really great soup, although the other dishes are fairly generic, Westernized Chinese food. The staff is friendly enough, and the restaurant, although a little "cafeteria like" seems to be clean. I would say that it's probably the best Chinese food I've found in Maple Ridge, but that's really not saying much!
