I consider myself a somewhat restaurateur and have extensive knowledge in the restaurant business. So i decided to try out a Maple Ridge restaurant that i had a review from my friend who raved about the place. The parking lot was stupid to get to and a pain to drive in and out of but that's not a huge issue. The Restaurant decor was sub-par although they did have some nice features like a waterfall mirror on the bar and a fountain in the main room. But the rest of the decor and poor quility furniture took away from it. My server was excellent, funny, and curteous. The food was fairly quick and quite tasty (had Butter Chicken and Naan bread). One of my main complaints was the price though. A 37 dollar bill for two peopel to have rice, bread, and butter chicken. Seems a bit outrageous. Thank goodness someone else was taking care of the tip. All in all i would avoid going to the restaurant itself and getting some takeout instead, but be warned that you'll pay a heavy fee for this indian food.
I've tried several Indian restaurants over the years around the Lower Mainland & GM is consistently one of the best. They are just as good if not better than many of the higher priced, more "stylish" Indian restaurants in Vancouver. It's a family run business & the people are friendly & food is excellent.
I grew up going to this place regularly and try to go back at least once a year. The food is delicious and amongst the best Indian food you can find in the area in this price range. The owners are lovely people and still remember me and greet me warmly if I come in when they're around. The service is usually efficient and friendly. The pakoras and cheesecake are awesome!
