Walking into this pub I felt like I had been there many times before, although I'd never stepped foot in the place. It's like so many other seedy small town places scattered around the province that I've been to, from the Gulf Islands to Quesnel to Princeton. If you know exactly the type of place I'm talking about, you'll probably like it here. Complete with hot nut vending machine, antique pour over coffee machine on the bar (complete with day old coffee), mis-matched torn chairs, regulars that look like they were born in the place and that all too familiar seedy pub smell. Cactus club it aint.
Had the wing special and they were exactly what I'd expect, deep fried tiny wings, mostly skin dripping with sauce. Hey, call me nostalgic but I like my cheap wings like that. They were hot, and cooked to order. Server / bartender was sweet, quick and cheerful, treated me like one of the regulars.
Three for value, beer price was not reflective of the establishment by .50 cents or so.
As for the solid ambience rating, it's the average score and this is exactly your average small town dive. Expect cracked glass around the dancefloor, pull tabs everywhere and the type of bathrooms you don't want to go in until you've had a couple of drinks. Go in expecting that and you'll be ok.
I liked it, and I'll be back.
