Canadian based family restaurant in comfortable surroundings with a large and varied menu. ABC's eggs bennies are famous, but so too is their pulled pork sandwich, their fish and chips, their pot roast dinner. And the desserts!
Been to this restaurant twice for lunch. Very average for everything. Nothing really stands out for being good nor bad. The food is decent, the services is friendly enough, the place is clean, the prices are not too bad. Food come pretty quick. The burgers are not bad although last time the buns are kinda dry. Would go back because it's not bad and sometimes it's just convenient.
I'm really not that old, I swear! When I was young, I remember White Spot being a slightly upscale Denny's; a good place to take the family for an affordable casual meal. Well, as anyone in Vancouver knows, White Spot has turned itself into some attempt at a Keg/Earl's-like chain where "West Coast Fusion" has replaced family cuisine. I suppose I'm disappointed in that, if only for the reason that it's one less easily accessible restaurant for "basic food".
ABC is a great chain if it is indeed quick "regular" food that you're after. Decent breakfasts, lunches and dinners can all be had here at an affordable price. The food is by no means special, but it doesn't try to be, either. This is a place to come for a casual meal with friends or family when you just don't want to cook, and could use a more social atmosphere than your own kitchen.
Have been to this particular location at least half a dozen times, and never been disappointed. True, I haven't really set high expectations, but why would anyone come here with them? I love a 50$ steak as much as the next man, or heck, even a 30$ one at somewhere like Earl's, but sometimes I just want a basic meal at a good price that's filling and fairly tasty.
For anyone looking for that simple meal with good service, try an ABC.
My husband and I went here for an early dinner. 3:45
My husband had the blt sandwhich with side salad he said it was very good.
I had the turkey dinner and was not impressed b the small portion size.
there was only 2 small slices of turkey, about a tblsp of stuffing, good portion of mash, large size of broccoli and carrots with only one cauliflower. (cooked). the food was hot but not very filling for $12.50
I waS surprised when the waitress said that my dinner came with a desert so I got excited, I had the coconut cream pie, it was very good until I found a small hair in the pie half way through eating it.
will not eat here again because of the portion size/price and because of the hair.
The ABC franchise has been around for decades and we've gone there a few scattered times only to be disappointed. The steak dinner is not worth their "beefy prices", in my view, and you get far better quality and quantity in Bellingham steak places and homestyle restaurants like Shari's across from Bellis Fair Mall. I challenge anyone to go to this USA restaurant to see the difference. Their steak dinner are comparably priced but our teenager could barely finish it in the USA whereas, in contrast, at ABC he was picking off our plate after finishing his own. Sorry to say, like The Keg and other steak houses, we pay too much for steak dinners in Canada with smaller quality portions than our American counterparts. We went to the ABC buffet, years ago, and it was okay but costly; not everyone has the same taste buds and we are all entitled to agree, or agree to disagree.
Came here for lunch and was a little surprized that I couldn't order a glass of wine. Food and service was great though. I would recommend this place for a quick bite to eat.
On a side note, there is a boardroom in the back which looks like it would be great for business meetings.
