Quan's kitchen is your typical "ding ,ding" type diner.The microwaves are the primary source of the problem with their inedible chinese food.Truly shockingly bad taste,and texture(s) to meat dishes due to unnecessary use of microwaves, the abundant leftover food went straight in the trash.Real cooks use pans ,pots and grills to prepare fresh food, not reheat frozen rubbery entrees in microwaves .Bland ,tasteless and truly a waste of money.If you enjoy stomach aches eat at quans.
At the Haney Public House there is always a cold drink and good food awaiting you.The food is elevated far beyond standard pub fare,where the cooks definately care about producing quality meals with great flavours even when busy.Consistency is solid with menu items , and cool specials are added from time to time which add a freshness to the menu.Pints are cold and at the ready,friendly service and a fun time awaits!
First point is that food doesn't need to be saturated in monosodium glutimate.The ingredients should be the key flavour components to any dish.The oil used for frying here must be changed more frequently as the dark greasy appearance of the fried foods is not acceptable to serve.The slimy meats seen in many dishes are most likely caused by improper frozen food defrosting process ,and is suspect to probable future gastrointestinal pains for the unknowing patron(s).Basic food preperation techniques are clearly not being used.
Went got lunch on a weekday. We've been before and it's nice to sit at the bar facing the street outside and have a pint of cider. But I'd eat elsewhere I think. Burger was ok fries were super crispy but tasteless. Veggie breakfast wrap was ok but STOP putting goat cheese in everything - it's freaking GROSS. I didn't see it had goat cheese and it was ruined . I didn't eat it and was not asked why. Wanted to take a perogie pizza home to our teenage son but was flat our refused because it was the special. We could order any other pizza to go. But those are the toppings he likes. No. We would even have paid a higher price. Stupid rules and service like that make me think twice about going back or recommending to friends.
I am a frequenter of the MangoMoka and must say that I am very pleased with the service, the coffee, and he food. All of the ingredients are fresh and the smoothies are great! The staff are very friendly and are always there to be of service to you. I heartily recommend it to all.
I go to WS quite often, one of my wife's favorites and my kids enjoy pirate paks. My wife ordered a mac and cheese burger and i got fish tacos. She absolutely loved the burger. Looks like they got their burgers down. My fish tacos left more to be desired. There is nothing I could point my finger to and say this was bad. It was just the over all quality of the dish. When you walk out of there you feel somewhat ripped off. I know I can do fish tacos myself better than this Maple Ridge location did it. I know WS does burgers, breakfast and the usual fair pretty well. I think the price of burgers is a little on the high side, but it's alright. Now I am somewhat of a home chef/foodie. I like to research recipes and make my own things at home. When I eat at certain establishments I find I am disappointed quite often. It's like this chef/ cook who prepared this meal for me does not have the same standards as I do. I guess that is why I am usually disappointed at most restaurants. I don't like to be the guy who only writes reveiws when he has a bad experience. I like to be totally fair and unbiased. If it's good I'll tell you so. So white spot in general is great for burgers, fries and breakfast. But it's hit and miss on other menu items.
Service was good overall.
I tried the new Witchcraft Bistro in Maple Ridge. Formerly the Witch or Witch of Endor. The place looks real neat inside. Decorated with old doors and such give it kind of a rustic look.
We ordered wings, Pizza and Beef dip. It was all very good with Kettle cooked chips. I was impressed. The maple bourbon wings were spectacular. Definitly not your average pub-style wings. So delicious, cooked to perfection. Only thing is they didn't give enough wings. Pizza was totally fresh tasting, they did emphasize how they like to keep everything as local as possible right down to the flour in the dough. Beef dip was great,the portions are good size.
I tried several beers from some local crafts bewers. A fine selection. You can order the 5 beer sampler for around $11 to 15 as they do in other craft brew establishments. Fraser Valley IPA was my preferred taste for that day. The Mission Springs Lemon Ginger Radler was nice as well, refreshing and light.
My jaw dropped a little when i got the bill, But i think i will be back to try other stuff just not too too soon. Now i'm going to try and make that bourbon wing sauce.
I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something out of the ordinary. Cheers :)
Our experience ordering take out from this restaurant was awful. I would not normally take time to write a review but I feel that I was ripped off by this place and I want to warn other people before they spend their money here. We ordered the baked meat lasagna which was cold and also tasted like a microwave lasagna you would buy from a grocery store. The cheese bread we ordered was hard as a rock and seemed like it had been left out for hours. We paid 40 dollars for this food. I feel like It would have been a better idea to go to the grocery store and buy a loaf of plain bread and a can of chef Bogarde pasta. We gave this restaurant a rating of 1 out of 5 because It was obvious that this restaurant does not care about the quality of food it sends out the door. To be fair, I don't know what the experience is like at the restaurant because I have never actually been inside but after this experience I will never eat there again.
My husband and I have been looking forward to trying Chameleon for quite some time now. We were impressed by the appetizers and the first 30 minutes of our visit. Over the next 75 minutes, I ordered another glass of wine (never got), watched other customers receive their orders (who arrived after we did) and asked twice about our meal. We were assured it was coming, with apologies. We arrived at 530, and at 715 our waiter came back (still no wine) and advised us he had FORGOTTEN to place our order! No offer of comped appetizer, drink, nothing. We paid and left, quite disappointed. In the very least, there should have been SOME effort made to entice us to return. Nope, Nada, Nothing. Extremely poor customer service.
Big Feast has been around a while and I've never gone.... I've been missing out! Four of us out for dinner - not much left in ol' Ridge to choose from but haven't been to 2 "new" places yet. Chameleon and Big Feast. We chose Big Feast and were not disappointed! I had a chicken dish in a creamy, lemony sauce with capers and peppercorns - it was delicious! the garlicy mashed potatoes were fabulous too. Wine prices were decent. All our meals were really good, including the gluten-free burger my brother-in-law had, made with a local Zena bun. In fact, we were all very impressed with the 'local' ingredients in this place. Bread, cheese, meat - all local. The atmosphere is 'eclectic' - kinda cool, really. The tables and chairs don't match, it gives it a really homey, comfortable quality. The service was prompt and friendly. The waitress knew the menu well. We did find it a tad warm inside, even with the AC but it was really hot out that day and the sun was beaming in through the big windows. I had a great meal, a great time and I will definitely be back.
Went for dinner and sat outside between pub and cafe. Lovely street front bar table- best in the place I think on a SUNny day. Two great ciders on tap!! Excellent. Beer selection is disgusting!!! Mostly ales only ONE lager- original 16. Not ONE normal beer. Not one. No bud, no Canadian no Kokanee no corona, no carlsburg no nothing. Hubby not happy does by like ale.
Hubby liked burger and fries were good. I had pizza- could have been good but crust ended up soggy and the whole thing could have had a whole lot more flavour.
Sat outside and when it got cold we wanted to move inside and transfer bill . We're told we had to pay before we moved in. I asked if that was policy and she said no but because it was a "bigger" bill 4 drinks and dinner she would make us pay. I asked why and if management said this. She said she was " sort of a manager". And if they don't do that the staff gets " ripped off". On a tip I guess. Very poorly handled . You never talk about tips to a customer. She got ripped of on her tip for that comment. Backfire.
Waitresses were pretty low class - most kinda skanky and tattooed except one. Limited menu which would be ok if all the items hit the marks . On the fence with this place
There were 22 people with reservations, all meals were preordered .... ran out of bread, and balsamic dipping sauce, bread arrived 15 minutes after dipping sauce. After two hours some of the meals were being served, but the majority had NOT been served yet. My husband ordered salad but received soup instead. My husband and I left after two hours and twenty minutes and had not received our meal at the point. There was not effort to compensate for our lack of service. Sadly all 22 of the people will never return to this restaurant.
We ordered from these guys twice and both times we were told 45-55 minutes. Both times the pizza took 80 minutes. The first time the pizza was missing the ground beef on a greek which is the only meat on the pizza. The second time the pizza was completely wrong.
If you like waiting a long time to get the wrong pizza, this is the place for you.
Poor service and their burgers and prices on alot of items are more than their competitors. Although we go their often because of conveniences its the same old story of slow service, confusing cashiers and mixed up orders. Like McDonalds, time after time there are mistakes in the orders and confusion between staff. One time a cashier was taking my order and left me dangling as she was distracted and started doing other things and I waited 5 minutes+ to finish what we started.
I've been to Smile Thai at least a dozen times and have nothing bad to say about it. The portions are a good size and the food is fantastic. They do take out too - what else is there to say? FINALLY great Thai in Maple Ridge!
My wife and i had a dinner date here. I thought over all it was a good experience. We ordered the dinner for two B.Miso soup, seafood salad, Salmon Oshi, salmon wave, special roll, teriyaki chicken or beef, and a dessert. It was pretty good value i guess. The food was absolutely delicious. Quite filling with the Asahi beer aswell. We couldn't finish the teriyaki portion. seafood salad was incredible, Salmon Oshi makes you say " Ohshi#" it was all very good, and somewhat unique. i would say a cut above the regular sushi joints. You have a choice of Green tea or mango ice cream in the end which i thought was a bit of a let-down, but refreshing non-the less. i was expecting some deep fried banana's or something more exotic.
Service was good but in my opinion lacking the added touch.
I would revisit this place for sure.
I order pizza from here quite often. They are good pizza's and have decent value. However on the last two times i noticed that when i eat the pizza i get this gritty sand pebble. You know when you have bit a piece of sand. It makes me question if they are washing veggies properly or practicing good cleanliness.
I ordered take-out. 3 souvlaki dinners, one chicken, one beef and one lamb. It was very good and tasty. I like garlic, but i thought the Tzatziki was a little over board on the raw garlic. Everything else was good however the portions were a bit small for a greek restaurant. $15 for a dinner souvlaki i kind of expect to get a good size portion like Greek restaurants are so well known for. I would go back here, but not too soon or often. Its kinda of expensive.
The restaurant looks nice inside, i may decide to eat in , in future. Save up some money first though. ;)
We met up with some friends for a bite at the (new) Townhall. This place has been under several names and management but this one is the best yet. The food was good and I was surprised to see families with kids there. Not too loud, patrons, music or television-wise. I highly recommend reservations. We had a head's up to do so and I'm glad we did - the line up at 6:00 on a Friday was down the stairs and when we left at 8:00 it was even longer. We were placed in a room that had a large party in it. I think more people showed up than their reservation was for as the area filled up we found ourselves the ONLY table in that area that wasn't a part of this surprise party. As a result, we were 'elbowed' quite a bit by the party patrons. My sister in law even had somebody lean/sit on the back of her chair! We had to ask them to back off from us - which they did but eventually we found ourselves crowded again. I'm not sure that this was the fault of the restaurant or the girl who took our reservations but it was nonetheless the biggest damper on the evening. The food service was good - fairly fast and prompt considering how busy they were. The food was really good and there was a nice variety from soup/salads to steaks and pizza. The entrees/appies were a good selection too. Next time (there will definitely be a next time), I'll be sure to ask for a table that isn't next to a big party. I highly recommend this place - Maple Ridge has lost some of their 'gems' in the last 2 years and this is a nice place for all ages.
The owners are wonderful people who make a point to remember their clientele. Our family really enjoys the food and we even enjoy going in to say hello to the owners and chat. Our favorite of course is the butter chicken and samosa, but we have had a taste of everything and it is all fresh and home made and very delicious!
