Very disappointing Manager!

I went to the Kingfishers Waterfront Bar last night for a friends Birthday celebration. The fourth person of our party arrived and ordered a drink. Her drink arrived she picked it up to have a sip when the bottom of the glass detached from the glass leaving the contents all over her lap. We were all so surprised when this happened we sat there for a moment. A lady at another table ran to get help. The server arrrived with napkins. Napkins could not deal with this. The manager arrived with towels not much better than the napkins. He did not apologize! He had very little care or concern. Our friend went in to try and dry her pants. She was so embarrassed and humiliated. Her efforts were futile as she was soaked to the skin. When she told the manager she couldn't deal with this mess with the towels or hand dryer. He said" sorry, all I can do is give you towels." My friend said" that's all you can do?" He said "yes" She said you are not going to offer me anything? He said "Nope!" She was so uncomfortable and upset she left. It really ruined our Birthday celebration. When I told the server our fourth guest had left she apologized and said the manager would buy her a drink. The manager needed to step up and accept responsibility and show that he cared about his customers. I will make sure I share with my friends my experience and leave it up to them to decide whether they would like to go there.I thought the view was nice, the server tried but the manager was extremely disappointing. Clearly he does not value the customer. We drove quite far and will not go back.

Sitting on the deck overlooking the river and enjoying Kingfishers' great food is a favorite for us EXCEPT the wines. They only offer B.C. wines and none of good value or character. (Well, there might be one or 2, but they're not our style and have been on the list so long it's tiring!) Kingfishers, if you are reading this, PLEASE add some import wines (Perhaps from Chile or Argentina, which have such great value and character to offer!!) or at least some better quality B.C. wines.

I find Kingfisher selection of wines is quite poor, however i do appreciate the B.C. concept.
Please choose some better quality so we can enjoy the whole experience as we do enjoy sitting on the deck and enjoy a glass of wine with our food.
The ambiance, the food and the view are great so we look forward to re visiting in the future with an altered wine list.

Every time i go to The Witch I am pleasantly surprised. From the moment you step inside, every staff member takes a moment to say 'Hello!' or 'Hi there!' and it really makes you feel at home. The inside feels warm and cozy and I love the pictures on the wall showing Englands landmarks! The ladies and gents who work there always know what all of the specials are and can always recommend something new. Besides that, the food is awesome and there is always a new dish to try every month. When I go on the weekends there are live bands who play classic rock all the way up to recent music! I was surprised to see my server Megan get up on and sing with the band and some of the other servers were dancing away!! I have never seen a more outgoing and friendly staff than this! This is a fun place to be and I will definitely be back soon.

My SO and I are addicted to pho soups and have just recently moved from Poco to Maple Ridge. We tried a couple of places in the area but were disappointed and were resigned to driving back to our favorite place in Poco to get our fix until I noticed Xuan Chi.
My SO was resistant as she is quite picky about soup but I finally dragged her in for a taste test. One spoonful was all it took to win her over! The broth is great, the portions plentiful and a large bowl averages $6.00.
The decor is subdued but nice and the staff are very friendly. We have a new place to get our soup fix, just a few blocks from home. Yum! (The salad rolls are great too.)

Lousy Lunch

Ok, I will start from the beginning..
My boyfriend was on here looking up reviews and saw that Roast Bistro had about a 4 out of 5, so he decided to take me there for lunch. When we walked in the restaurant it had about 4 tables dining.. the bistro is quite large so it looked very empty. The waitress said that it would take a couple mins to be seated.. ( the place was empty) SO we waited.. Finally we were seated in a cold corner by the washrooms!!!! Nice atmosphere right next to the toilets! We asked for another table, and were told we had to sit at that one.. again... the place was empty!! We had to ask the other waitress to be moved. When I started to look around I noticed the place was lacking warmth and decor!! The only pictures on the walls were of puppets and ventriloquists.. creepy!!! I ordered the Steak Caesar salad and my boyfriend had the beef dip.. both of our beef had a funny sour taste and smell..my salad was soaked and mushy.. his fries were okay!!
Our waitress hardly came around and didn't even ask us how our meals were!
I'm starting to think the owner is writing his own reviews on here!
WIll NEVER GO BACK!!
CHECK UR MEAT!

We've been going to this little Pub for 10 years now. We've gone through all of their changes, it's clean and comfortable, and has a great smoking section for the smokers out there that want to be able to have a drink with their smoke.
It's the friendliest Pub ever. Over the years, we have made very many good friends through this little Pub tucked away in Maple Ridge. Even to this day we meet new people here. People who are single and sitting alone, are not likely to be sitting alone for to long before a regular starts up a conversation with you. As well, the staff all know us by name, and they make a point of getting your name, so next time you come in, you will be greeted by your name.
Now, for the food, it's great and reasonably priced. For the most part, it is all made in their kitchen. They make the best homemade soups, and their burgers have a real patty, not some frozen puck. Oh my; you like Nachos, The Witch of Endor Pub is the place to go, but you need to bring someone with you to help you eat them, even the ½ order is huge. Fajita anyone, when someone orders this, the whole bar can smell them and want some. The best deals are on Wednesday $5.99 steak dinner, steak melts in your mouth, Saturdays, Eggs Benny for $2.99, Sundays, All Canadian Breakfast for $4.99.
As for drink specials, every day they have great drink specials, my favorites are Mondays: 3 Bud bottles in a bucket of ice for $11.99, Wednesday and Sundays: Double Ceasars for $5.75.
Let's not forget the Lions Meat Draw, Fridays: 5, 6, and 7pm and Sundays: 3, 4, and 5pm, $5.00 for a strip of 10 tickets, 6 – 7 prizes per draw, and meat comes from Costco, if you win, you win a prize worth $15-20 and they give you a bag to take it home in.
But, best of all is their awesome staff members, their charismatic Debbie, dynamic Woren, lovely Michelle, sweet Kayla and let's not forget the best bartender in town Jeff, who will all greet you with a true (not fake) smile, and serve you promptly and efficiently.
Cheers, to the Witch of Endor Pub, our friendly neighborhood pub in the heart of downtown Maple Ridge. I highly recommend you all check it out for yourselves.

Bad service, Bad pizza, low price (if you actually get that far)
By Raq of Maple Ridge (8 Reviews)
Submitted Friday, April 20, 2012 - 8:52pm [Dine in]

Tried to order a pizza from the Haney place mall location on a friday night at 7:45 PM, and the clerk at the counter tells me they aren't making any more pizzas tonight because they close soon. They close at 9 PM according to their advertising. She told me to go to another location on Lougheed Hwy. Drove to the other location, this location wouldn't make the order either, saying they don't make pizzas in that size, even though it's right on the flyer. Walked out at this point.

Other visits to the mall location, I've seen the clerk spraying windex in the 'warmer' where the pizza is sitting to clean the glass, while the pizza is still in there....who knows how long it's been there. Would you like some ammonia with your pizza today...no thanks.

The staff at these locations seem to have an attitude about doing any form of work other than taking pizza out of the warmer and putting it on a paper plate, as if you are inconveniencing them so much for making them have to prepare something off of the actual menu. Don't bother with this place.

Too expensive

Submitted Thursday, April 5, 2012 - 1:53pm [Dine in]

Arrived on a weekday morning. Took 15 from the time we were sat to get coffee and place our order. After that service was ok. It was not very busy and I was totally surprised at the number or single mothers in there dining with toddlers. At the prices they charge? That struck me as weird. If I ever took my toddlers out for breakfast it was usually to McDonalds not and expensive sit down.

First thing I noticed on the menu was that each entree was $3-4 more than any other breakfast place like Ricky's or Ihop. There were alot of choices but really only a couple of items interested me. I wanted a bene but read it came on some type of hard dry cracker thing - no thanks. So I had some type of Meixcan omeletee. It was a odd angled shape like it was formed in a mold- no chef skills required. The veggies inside were cooked properly but the cheese was not melted inside just a little sprinled on top. Plus it was that preshredded cheap food service cheese. Then it was topped with bottled salsa - yuk I scraped that off. It came with 2 tablespoons of sour cream. It tasted ok but nothing special and was kind of rubbery. The sourdough toast was very good, properly toasted and large pieces. The jams were the nice American style ones. The hasbrowns however were atrocious. They were sort of an opaque brown, not a crispy toasted brown but a sitting in discoloured oil brown. They tasted like old oil as well. What a disappointmen. I would say this meal might be worth $7.99 - it was $12.25. Whoa.

My husband had a hash pannekoek. It came with meat, veggies and cheese mixed up in the nasty hasbrowns so he could not pick them out. Also it came in a small white side dish that was placed directly on top of the pannekoek. GROSS. Who wants their food dishes on top of their food? He does not like hollandaise so asked for butter and syrup instead. He was informed that syrup was and extra $2.50 - are you kidding me? What breakfast place charges for syrup?? He opted out and ate a dry pancake. He was also underwhelmed. His was also $12.25.

Thank goodness we had a 2 for one coupon or we would have been pissed. It still came in at over $21 for breakfast with the coupon. Very poor value. We will not be back.

Skip it unless you prefer quantity over flavour

Saw the little hole in the wall in Maple Ridge and thought we would give it a try. It is garage style which I don't mind but did not enjoy the cold. You can see the air space under the door and on a cold spring day, it is cool in the restaurant. Service was friendly. Ordered a cilantro burrito and my girlfriend ordered some Mexican rice bowl thing. Took longer than expected to get the food with only 2 other tables. When the food came, the portion size was quite large. If you look on their website the prices are not correct as the burrito was in the $12 range versus $9.75. I'm not going to complain about the price, the portion size was large, but I do expect a decent flavour.

This was the big let down. The food has very little seasoning and very little consideration for ingredient position. If I am paying someone to make food for me, I want them to add seasoning to make it interesting. The burrito had very little cilantro in it which is interesting for a cilantro burrito. I asked for the habanero hot which was also disappointing. The only flavouring which helped save the burrito was the hot sauce bar. I put hot sauce on every bite to try to add some flavour and heat to make the meal somewhat interesting. The burrito was mostly refried beans with very little beef. The way the burrito was made put most of the meat at one end. This means when you are eating the food you don't get a mixture of ingredients. Basically I had a bean dip wrap with what basically tasted liked canned refried beans. My girlfriend's rice dish was pretty much the same. It was too large for her but had the same lack of seasoning and a lack of meat for the price.

I would not go back to this restaurant. I love authentic Mexican food for the freshness and the flavours. This didn't come close. I could get more seasoning and enjoy the flavours more at Taco Time. If you prefer volume of food over taste this may work for you. If you prefer taste over volume, skip this one.

First of all Electra Pizza took Dinos phone number when Dino closed its door and when you call to order it is not clear that you are not phoning Dinos.

Second the Greek Salad had soft, rotten cucumbers and onions that were brown.

Third, we had asked for dressing on the side and after being assured that they always do that, the Greek Salad we got was literally drowning in oil.

This establishment in the Ceter of Maple Ridge has been here for a long time. The atmosphere is very relaxed and personal. I have been here several times for lunch and a couple of times for dinner.

The Paella is great to share with a group and it has a lot of different types of seafood as well as some pork medallions. The pork and clams is another favorite and the pork has a great white wine flavor from a long marinade. Our must have is the quail that comes in a rich spice sauce. The sauce alone is worth a visit.

The secret ingredient for many dishes are light crispy fried potatoes. I can't figure out how the are cooked but they are always cooked perfectly.

The owner and staff are attentive and friendly but without any great sense of urgency. My portuguese friends recommended this place to me and they say it is quite authentic.
