We grab take out once every few weeks and this place has the best and more importantly most consistent sushi in Maple Ridge.
We recently had a student from Japan staying with us and she said it was Awesome as well for what its worth.
A little pricey but most good sushi is.
I have lived in Maple Ridge for 30 years (through a few ownership changes I am sure) and I can remember eating at the sea shanty more than 20 years ago. I was always confused as to why they had a roof inside.
Anyways I eat there probably once a month sometimes I grab it to go and sometimes I eat in. Always good Halibut & Chips. The homemade tartar sauce is great, the gravy is good and you can get the fries with salt or without which is nice as well.
They have added lots of other deep fried items as well even things like snickers bars and stuff like that but its not my thing and I have never tried anything other than the Fish & Chips.
Its licensed as well if your looking for a mid day beer.
This place is open later for food than most places in Maple Ridge. One of the newest, cleanest pubs in town, located in East Maple Ridge. This place is ALWAYS busy!! The beer is always cold and fresh, the service is Always good. Well run establishment. Not bad food for the price! I think it depends on the cook working in the kitchen at night, but I've had a few really decent meals there.
I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a local establishment to kick back in. Or even pop in for lunch!
The staff are always really friendly here, seems to have a real "local" vibe about it. As an outsider it's almost like watching an episode of "cheers" Maple Ridge style.
The food is decent for pub grub. Not a bad place to grab a burgar, fries and a cold beer . Easy parking & location. Open for food until later. (11pm?) Recent renovations make it comfortable to sit in.
Bleh......Disappointing, run of the mill, if the owner doesn't have deep pockets, it'll be out of business in a year.
I ate at this brand new restaurant in Maple Ridge during Dine Out Vancouver. The first red flag went up when I asked for the regular menu, after only being offered the "dine out" menu. The dine out menu was the regular menu, WORD for WORD with the regular prices removed. On the dine out menu for $35 were the choice of two appetizers and a main dish. It was cheaper to order off the REGULAR menu, (the exact same items) no matter how you looked at it. Simple Math.
Second, everything tasted like it was from frozen. The Salmon I ordered came undercooked, tasted fishy and cooked from frozen state. My husbands "side potatoes" were more like french fries cooked 4 times to many. The ingredients were really lacking. I feel like the restaurant owner is trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes with this low quality high price food. Not worth it.
The review also posted on here titled "Oh my God" can also be found on the urbanspoon review site. I have a sneaking suspicion someone is trying to boost their own restaurant.
The food was quite poor. I found the chow mein to be gummy and bland. The rice much the same. The prawns tasted as though the oil was in need of changing. The almond gai ding had no chicken in it. And the beef with black pepper tasted like a burnt pot. A real waste of $50.00.
Ok, what happened here & how come no one told me!?!
What a lovely surprise, we actually have a great place to go for a nice dinner or a date nite in Maple Ridge. WOW. Yes we all know of the tried and true place that have been there but nothing as quaint, subtle yet magnificent as this.
I happened on it by chance as I parked on this one way side street to get my son's skate sharpened across the street and when I came back to my car my curiosity got the better of me and I poked my head in to see what this off the beaten place was all about....
Long behold what a beautiful room : warm and sexy yet refined and casual, OMG, somebody definitely knew what they were doing.
Looked at the menu and decided to come for dinner that nite as that's all they do, dinner starting at 5pm and Tues to Sat only (how civilized). My lovely wife (who knew nothing of this place) was first shocked as we pulled up but was pleasantly surprised once we entered, it was like entering one of those off the beaten path wow place in New York or LA that the TV shows are always talking about; breathtaking gorgeous
We were greeted with very genuinely welcome with a big smile and shown to a lovely table for four even though we were only two and the place was pretty full. We settled in and as we were taking in the ambiance we glanced around the room and saw quite a broad spectrum of ages and different types of diners all around and all of them had one thing in common: a very relaxed and content look, its like being in a SPA.
I know I am rambling but WOW....
The menu is definitely well put together with lots of options for every one( look it up)
I had the Crab and Salmon Dip, followed by the Tenderloin and my wife had the calamari followed by the Lamb Shank.
The portions are huge no massive and the flavors are dynamic with layers upon layers exploding in your mouth.
Whoever is putting this together definitely knows their stuff and hits the mark.
We were too stuffed but somehow after we were told about the Tiramisu our rubber arms were twisted and we ordered one to share (glad we did as it too was a large for one)
All said and done YUMM, great place amazing food; Oh and a great wine list short and cheap. I gotta come back as all sounds amazing and then the kicker the server said that they are doing seasonal menus, which means I won't be able to eat my way through this one before they completely change it in March. Got to go more>>>>>>>
I love to go here for sandwiches, custom made to order. Deli style food.....this is what his place is, a deli. (it is also a great place to purchase fresh fish and local groceries if your in need!!)
The staff here is always friendly, a real family feeling type of place. It is casual, and they offer dinner specials in the evening. Very home style comfort food. One of the better places in Maple Ridge for casual afternoon/lunch eats.
I would not order pizza here again, maybe if I was drunk, and it was the only thing open and I was dying for food.... even then.
This place is foul. Low budget, American style sloppy pizza.
Soggy, Sloppy budget. Better off eating spagetti'o's straight from the can.
this is the only place i will go to for a donair. you will not be disappointed with the food at all. i had the beef donair with extra beef all for $10 including my drink. try also there deep fried burgers. tell them ken sent you there today
Went to have a nice meal in a great place and heard the live music when we walked in but did not want to turn around and leave so decided to just sit down and enjoy the evening. The live band was good but the music was so loud the server had to yell and we yelled our order back to her. Sitting further away from the music source was not helpful because the music was piped in on speakers in the other parts of the restaurant. We tried to have a conversation but it was no use. The tables around us were all trying to do the same so I even considered texting to be able to communicate. We asked our server why it was so loud and she said the band was trying to be heard over the loud tables but after a couple of drinks it would not seem so loud. I like the place but will only go during the week. I like the food and the service and wanted to show the place off to friends but one of them had to borrow kleenex for the ears! I felt like we were at a rock concert and not at dinner.
I'm not a big fan of sushi but they have something for everyone! The Crunchy Rolls are amazing! The owners and staff are very friendly they actually know us by name now that we are there so often haha. Great little place. By far the best place in Maple Ridge, and even the lower mainland.
The money you spend at this place is outrageous! I can't believe the bill after I order my food. You're up close to $20 bucks every time. This food isn't expensive to prepare. This is a rip off!!! The food is good though, definitely not the best thai style I've had but it's ok. Save your money.
I really like this place, the view is awesome and the building is really nice to hang out in. The beer menu has so many options with very unique brews, and I love that. Ordering the food however. I ordered their salmon burger a few times but the last time I ordered it, it stunk. I mean it was the fishiest thing I have ever had on my plate. I gave it a gallant effort but I would be sick if I finished this plate. I sent it back and they gave me a discount no questions asked. Then about a month later I ordered another salmon appetizer. That same fishy smell happened again. Very disgusting. I will never eat a fish dish at this restaurant again. Otherwise, a fantastic place to watch the game, chill in the summer time, or drink awesome brews in the wintertime.
I never ordered from Dominos till I moved to my new place. They are one of the only places that will deliver to my house. The pizza is good. Nothing groundbreaking or anything but it's tasty. Their delivery can take some time and they sound grumpy on the phone but otherwise, it's pretty good.
I have been supporting this business for about 3 years now. You can tell they enjoy what they do, and they are having fun doing it. You can pretty much guarantee you're going to get the same sushi quality and taste every time you go to this restaurant. I've been to every sushi place around Maple Ridge, I have also been to Japan. You can say Japanese food is one of my favorites in life.
I have had a few recent mishaps at Shinobi that made me take a break from this beloved sushi joint. I ordered their version of the Hot Night Roll, It has 2 shrimp tempura in the roll. I also ordered a shrimp tempura order. I noticed the shrimp was not de-veined. There was gunk all over the place. When I pulled out the vein, it was like I had to wash my hands before I could eat. Gross to say the least. Make sure your shrimp is de-veined! I also may have found a fruit fly on my Alaska roll, that was a little gross. Also maybe a hair once too. 3 in at least 100 orders that I wasn't happy. Still a solid choice. Don't go to those other Hack Sushi joints in Maple Ridge, you'll thank me.
Flying wedge has been around for quite sometime now. When I saw that there was a shop in Maple Ridge I welcomed it because there is not much to choose from for pizza slice places in this town. The pizza is mediocre at best, although the prices reflect otherwise. There is a sour taste to this pizza, every time I try different slices that one taste is always there. The crust is thick and spongy and the toppings taste and feel like they have been left out on the counter for 2 days. My last visit to this place, the pizza I ordered was forgotten in the oven for preheating, when I finally got the pizza it was overcooked and dry. Not to mention it burned the top of my mouth something fierce. I've given this place so many opportunities to prove itself to me and it failed every time. I guess what they have is a convenience thing. Easy to grab a slice and leave. Dollar slice places downtown, or on comercial kill this pizza joint. With the money you spend at this crappy overrated business, you could buy quality pizza for your whole family at a similar pizza slice place Vancouver. Yes this is not Vancouver, but maybe we are missing something here. OVERRATED!
We decided to try this place for lunch yesterday. What a great setting. We had a seat by the window overlooking the river. This bar is really in a terrific location. It was not too loud which is nice. Such a nice relaxing lunch.
We were greeted at the door with a pleasant smile by the hostess who asked if we had a preference for the table. When we suggested a seat by the window she said we could pick the table that we liked and she would follow us. Our waitress was also a delight. She was very prompt with the taking the order and providing us with water. I had tea to drink and she even asked if I wanted more hot water for my tea half way through lunch. This is something that many servers fail to do. Kudos to her for asking. They have a very interesting and varied menu and I think there is something on the menu that would appeal to almost anyone. For the setting, ambiance and quality of food prices are very reasonable. The wine is also reasonably priced. It's nice that they have a reasonable mark up on wine and also a decent selection of good wines. For our lunch my husband had the salmon and crab burger (waitress asked if he wanted to substitute salad for fries, again great service) and I had the borgata prawns. My husbands burger was very good and came with a good sized order of fries. My prawns were very good and a decent sized portion. They were in a chile oil sauce and were really nice and spicy. 4 good sized pieces of garlic bread accompanied the prawns. The garlic bread was delicious on it's own but dipped into the sauce the prawns came it it was magnificient.
It was a great lunch, wonderful ambiance, terrific waitress, good food and decent prices. Would highly recommend and definitely intend to return ourselves.
Only a precious few can do lamb well for some unknown reason however these guys have it done superbly! They have a young skinny blond guy who remembers everything and seems to recall from previous visits as well. The pasta combo thing they have is also quite remarkable. 5 stars for this place!!!
Cheers!
Laurie
Best burger i have ever had in my life lives here, aka "the bell ringer". Not only that but a ridiculous amount of craft brew on tap (like 20+) and to top it off excellent service! After this place got bought by mission springs it has become a haven for beer drinkers and burger lovers! I hate dives, but this is an exception, everything is right about this place. If your looking for a hole in the wall this is the place to be! Also walk across the road to the docks after a meal, if your lucky you can catch some fishermen catch a fish, or see a sturgeon splash.
