Ban Chok Dee-liscious .
I reviewed this restaurant in 2012 and it had some issues. It wasn't great for brining kids in terms of wait time.
I have given ban Chok Dee-Liscious another try and am very glad I did.
I have a toddler and they managed to take our order ,have our food to us, eat ,paid and ready to be on our way in 45 minutes. I noted there were lots of couples on dates so they are also likely sensitive to you wanting to take your time and enjoy the romantic moment.
The food was delicious and prepared to order..ie. no spice on the dish I asked for no spice and medium spice for my wife who likes her food spicy.
The Thai sticky rice was great.
The greeter, usher really made a Thai impression complete with a perfect Thai Smile.....you will have to visit for yourself to figure out what I mean by this.
If you like Thai food or would like to try something different this is definitely a good option:)
I overheard one table had driven in from chilliwack for the food and were very happy they had.
Thank you to the Management and Ownership for having worked on this and turned it into a Gem. It's definitely worth the drive and an asset to our community.
Went here for lunch while I did some shopping in Langley. It was not easy place to find if you do not have a GPS. The restaurant is located between some residential complex and the building the place is in could have been pass off as a 1 level motel. Well the ambiance inside is quite nice and the ALL-U-CAN-EAT is quite good. The selections is limited, there was no sashimi on the $12.99 menu but if you wanted it you have to pay more. There was also a $21.99 menu which I believe there was sashimi. Yet for the $12.99 menu you get some interesting and tasty rolls such as the Crazy roll which is a cali roll deep fried. The food was fresh and was delightfully served promptly. I was impressed for what you pay for. Would definitely come back for AYCE when I am in the neighbourhood.
I would have NEVER gone to this place except multi family members decided for the group.I had "The Legendary" burger. Horrible ! Fries where just warm and soggy, The oil in their fryer needs to be changed and cleaned thoroughly .The fries were the worst I have had in a long time, Burger tasted as if it was a out of box of preformed frozen tasteless globs of meat. No tomato as stated. My wife had a Halibut burger with a piece of pickle stuck on with a tooth pick , SHE HATES PICKLES . The bun was saturated with pickle juice. The others in our party where similarily un impressed and funnily we all said we should have said something but didn't want to spoil the occassion.
NEVER will I go back. Gone down hill and now in my "no eat zone ".
Yet the place was busy. Come folks on you deserve better fare , go some place else.
Dim Sum in Langley. Doesn't roll of the tongue very well does it? Actually, there is the occasional steamed duck tongues available at some Dim Sum joints... Anyways, some people might consider Dim Sum in Langley to be an oxymoron of sorts. Or maybe just plain moronic to think that is possible. Hey, don't be so quick to judge though. My last foray into "chain restaurant" central yielded not only acceptable Dim Sum; but pretty good one at that. I'm not joking. Really! That was at Luxe, which is really Surrey/Langley rather than outright Langley. This time around, we were determined to find some more Dim Sum out here. In fact, it would be at a restaurant we have previously visited. Last time, we had a relatively decent dinner at Empire Garden .
The kids didn't care since they proceeded to scoop the inside only. Well, it is always a victory when the kiddies eat and cause as little disruption as possible. In terms of the Dim Sum here, it is pretty good, especially for Langley. If you weren't paying attention, the restaurant could pass for something in Vancouver or even *gasp* Richmond. Nothing extraordinary; but it does hold its own. The prices are on the higher side which is a reflection of the restaurant itself. The decor is nice and the service is fairly good. But, if one wanted Dim Sum in the area, I still prefer Luxe since it is less expensive and has comparable, if not better Dim Sum. The push carts at Luxe are also a novelty if you prefer that. Now the real challenge is to find a 3rd place in Langley that serves decent Dim Sum. Stay tuned...
This was the restaurant of choice for a birthday celebrating friend. Having driven through to langley, so many times who knew a restaurant in that far area?
We were in for the Korean BBQ and accompanying sides. The pickled vegetables were particularly enjoyable. Our first couple of rounds of grilling meats were nicely marinated though subsequent orders came out bland, likely the dressing too watered down. The always delicious seafood pancake was again undeniably good, though the overpowering greasiness took over a bit too much of the taste. Maybe they should consider adding a side of napkins to sop up the oil that wasn't lucky enough to be absorbed by the pancake. The soup was ok though more appropriate as a stomach filler.
It was busy so the service was stretching itself through our visit. Still, the staff seemingly handled our rowdy crowd with fair ease.
You get the expected Korean BBQ styling so no surprises. It's loud all around, but not obnoxious. Another expectation you can count on is a change of clothes when you leave. This restaurant runs with the crowd, so all in all, we left happy.
As a vegetarian, it's so hard to find normal food that is made for vegetarian. For example, when I go out with friends for Pho I usually get the regular noodle soup with only noodles because it's usually the only thing I can eat.
Sen Viet is one of the few places I've been to that makes Pho for vegetarians, and it tastes pretty damn good. I tastes good, and I don't feel crappy after eating it. Price is a little higher than the usual Pho restaurants, but it's hard to find one that uses quality ingredients like Sen Viet does. Will definitely come back to try the other vegetarian dishes they have!!
Despite the previous poor reviews, we quite liked the food last night!
It was a quiet/slow night so our service was good. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. We ordered the prawn tacos to start which were awesome! I didn't know how the chocolate bacon would work in them, but turns out it was perfect. My partner had the soup/salad/half sandwich and enjoyed each part. He did mention the salad bowl was very awkward to eat out of, but the soup was really good apparently. I had the portabella burger and 1/2 salad 1/2 fries. The burger was ok, but not amazing. The bun was nice and I think a regular burger would be great here. The fries were really good, stayed crispy and warm for a long time. The house salad was really good, but the bowl was an issue here too. We both thought the food was spicier than expected, but that's not a bad thing in our books.
The atmosphere here is nice. It's a big open restaurant with darker lighting. It was mostly empty when we were there, but I could see if being packed and lively on a weekend or game night.
Overall we were pleasantly surprised and will be returning.
Took my daughter for lunch yesterday. 130pm the place was empty yet tables were dirty. Took 5-10 minutes for a server to take our drink order, another 10 minutes to get them. Food took longer than expected seeing though we were the only customers in the restaurant. No quality check as the server was too busy on the phone for 20 minutes to ask us if everything was alright. Finally, a single patron came in and she had no choice but to seat her and come by our table. Asked for my plate to be packed up and the bill. The food was good and the portion was large. After working in the restaurant industry for over 10 years, I expected more from a server. You make tips on the service you provide. If you don't give good service, you don't make good tips! From now on, I think we'll go to Taco Del Mar for our Mexican!
I went here with my now fiancé, and it's nothing but amazing.
the décor, was great and romantic; I love how busy it is! wonderful atmosphere.
we will return again.
there was wine tasting, waiter was on the ball, we felt so happy with the service that we are definitely returning.
the tuscan Italian feel was very unique & romantic - I loved every moment of it
I'm glad my fiancé has great taste.
One of the best in Langley.
Gotta say I went and booked a dinner here as a casual dine in and sorry to say I was disappointed on several accounts, not just one...
the very first issue was friends had arrived & three waitresses could not figure out if there were reservations are not? I called in advance, 3 days ago and at least in the early day of the same booking to ensure things would go smoothly. I was not too impressed there.
When we came in, also there was an arrangement for the tv there to be on the hockey channel, it was not done till it was several minutes into the first period, we had to ask THREE times to get the channel changed.
she then mistook the guest for the host. refills were not done in a timely fashion.
I'm sorry if I sound harsh in rating this place, but this is the first time I have been there. Standard would be, organization and not focusing too much on personal conversation with one of my guests, but to perform the job professionally and interact with ALL GUESTS in regards to orders, extra utensils, or refills...or at least have 2 waitresses for our table if it was needed.
I ordered the lamb burger, meat was over cooked, burnt charred. I was too hungry at this point to care to bother, I had to tear the bits off. she (waitress) seem to think that was 'ok' and left... when she comes back, again she only talks to the ONE guest at our table, it made it very VERY awkward.
the onion rings were too hard for my tastes to digest. I had to take a digestive enzyme afterwards but still got food poisoning. I'm not surprised since the whole service was less than passable in my standards.
the funny thing was we had bought in a cake for a birthday dinner, we appreciated the song and the icecream, but they all seemed to have forgotten about our cake that we had bought in, until we reminded them. what were they doing back there? then I asked where the cover was for the cake, they threw it away...lol. at this point, I know I'm not coming back cause this was enough to piss anyone off-this all happened in one night, my first time being there.
so then waitress did apologize then, but the plates were wet.
I came home having food sickness, not sure with what the other guests had to endure.
I Was very and am very disappointed. I'm not returning here & am completely scared off by lack of attentiveness. um..the only good thing maybe was bringing my bill to pay , only that was done on time. *rolls eyes*
We come here ALL the time, and we've been to every sushi joint in langley. This one is the BEST.
Every member who works there is always caring, and always looking to make your meal enjoyable.
Tea is always filled up. Food is great. Their spicy sauce is the tastiest, it actually has flavour and isn't just 'spicy'.
The chef/owner is the cutest, has the biggest smile on all the time and loves getting to know everyones names.
On top of it all, they do nice little gestures such as bringing rolls on the house, or even a complimentary pop.
Give it a try! You'll be hooked.
Best chinese food around the area. I order from here about once every two weeks. very flavourful dishes.
If you want a suggestion.. definitely try the ginger beef. never disappoints.
Wonton soup is also always great.
Have never had a meal inside. Interior is decorated nicely, but Chinese is always something that tastes better at home for some reason.
I cannot believe this place. The guy, Matt, is so friendly and the food is incredible! He actually remembers my name when I go, even though I don't go often. The hummus is the best i have ever had. EVER. Their falafel is to die for. Really, if you haven't been there, you need to go. Right now. GO!
A big mixed group of 17 kids ,parents and g'parents and friends .
Server Clayton looked after our two big tables and keep track of five separate bills flawlessly.Great host to our special celebratory evening meal. Clayton is a "credit" to Moxies!
My meal was excellent and have to rate my experience 4.5/5 [meat balls stuffed with cheese and spaggetti ]
V.Tasty ,well presented and value for the money. Shared a med bread appy with 4 dips~ $6 . excellent flavours and portion sizes.
My wife had a very generous portion of a Carribbean style chicken meal and found it a bit too hot ,but that's ok as I ate most of it . Wonderful falvours .
All the kid meals were a great hit and the dry ice ,ice cream dessert was the highlight for all of them.
Atmosphere , moderately up scale , clean , well trained staff .
I have to first say that this restaurant is in a weird location a strip mall that is half empty and in an industrial area but once you walk in that is all forgotten about. what a comfortable and cute room my only negative would have to be is the front wait area could be spruced up a bit to make it more welcoming. We dined in on Saturday to listen to the live music and it was amazing the young lady talked to us after her sets and we can't wait till she is back. We would defiantly make the trip back for her. We had mussels to start in a bacon and beer broth and everything was local which was really cool to see. We talked to the young lady serving and everything down to the onions were picked here in our own neighbourhood... Very cool. As a main we enjoyed to steaks one with blue cheese crust and one with some shrimp again all local and the meat was cooked perfect. An older Italian gentlemen made our wine choice for us and it paired with the meal perfectly we opted out for dessert but next time we will make sure we have room because they sounded amazing. Again thank you everyone at the FCOB for an amazing evening and can't wait till we can come back again!
Good, consistent food.
We go here regularly....and the food is always good.
The employees are friendly....and Donna and Peter are always hospitable.
It is nice to go into a restaurant and always feel welcome...no matter what time of day or how late we get there.
Try their salt and pepper squid...it is always consistently good.....if you like calamari....you will love this..but be careful of the jalapenos...they are really hot!!!
Beef chow fun is usually good....and their sizzling seafood is always great!
Came back here again, and was happy to see some new items on the menu.
All I can say is you MUST try their short rib. So savory!
We got caught up talking with a table next to us who had also ordered it,
and they said they come once a week from Abbotsford just for it.
Some new photos have been hung (ones of the family owners) which is a nice
I don't remember if I've raved about it before either, but their chai tea is also delicious.
I know it's only february but open up your patio please!
Everything from the owners to the ambiance is perfect.
The menu is diverse.
My favourite picks are the 'Coconut Curry dish', it's only like $7 and can be shared by two people.
If you're into lattes try their 'Red Symphony'.
The inside is decorated nicely, with leather chairs, various seating areas, and photos.
The owners are very smiley, and seem happy everyday.
It's an awesome place to study, do work, or hold a business meeting.
Big thumbs up!
the people here are amazing.
the atmosphere is calming, and the food is incredible.
chicken is really well seasoned, and the lamb is super tender.
Family run I believe?
servers were very attentive. we were served by a middle aged man who was very
welcoming and friendly.
when my friends and I were done our meals, our server brought
us a homemade dessert on the house to try! (tres leches? ask for it!)
calamari is also really tasty. large amount per order, nicely seasoned.
if you haven't been, I highly suggest you go :)
While baby sitting a few days ago, we took our three year old Grand Daughter to Wendel's so we could all have lunch. I like Wendel's. Always have. But what a disappointment that day. I understand that a huge population explosion has happened all around the Fort. I get it that is was the first nice day in a long time so it was just getting busy as we arrived. This combination book store/restaurant is a tiny place and generally has pretty good food value. But really people - learn how to line up to order your food and/or meals. Standing between the cash point and the coffee condiment table waiting for your order or to place your order is just plain dumb. Move aside for goodness sakes or get in line with everyone else. To all the young ladies, if you don't want people stepping on your purse - don't leave in on the floor on the walk way. Anyway, when my meal arrived I was helping the little one with her drink and sandwich while I was nibbling at my brunch. The fried potatoes were really tasty for the first couple of bites. Within a few seconds they cooled and went so hard and tasteless I left them on the plate. How can you do that to fried potatoes? Of course I will go back and try to sit outside where it is more civil. Perhaps the answer is to fore go something to eat and simply have a coffee and enjoy the parade. I also understand that customer ignorance is not the fault of any restaurant but customers not to understand they are not the only ones being served in a busy environment.
